  • Covering the basics and fundamentals of puzzle box design. Primarily focused on laser cutting but these fundamentals work both for laser cut and traditional woodworking.
If you have any questions please leave them in the comments and I'll do my best to get back to them as soon as I can.

Really clear explanation of the basics - thanks! I can see a lot of potential for a follow-up video on how to increase complexity or use different locking mechanisms.

Anything you feel like I could have improved? Of course in the next upcoming videos, I won't need to explain nearly as much as I've already mentioned it in past videos. But apart form length anything ells you feel like I might be missing?

@@Keep-Making I searched for a video which would show different basic locking mechanisms in puzzle boxes. a video about how different operating elements on the user surface (you mentioned switches, knobs etc.) can be used for different mechanisms in the inside (cogwheels, labyrinths, magnets, etc.) would be very interesting too. (sorry for my bad english ;) )

@@CaliHomie Hey Jakub, I'm happy to hear how eager you are. When you say you're waiting for more laser cutting videos do you mean more of the puzzle box series or just laser cutting in general?

@@Keep-Making I'm interested in everything related to laser cutting.
I learned from you that there is such a concept as kerf and how to deal with it.
I have not worked with laser before, I lack basic knowledge, that's why I'm mainly interested in "laser cutting at general".
In time, I will take care of such great boxes as you do, but I have to start from the beginning.

Great video! I know it would be a bit more expensive, but how about using acrylic for the more complex design? Transparent for the shell and coloured for the mechanisms? Might give some additional ways to film the interlocking.

      HMMMM sounds interesting....
Just you wait and see, I'm going to be learning something new this week that I have a feeling that I'll be about to make come CGI to even cross-section animated designs 😉
Plus I may make an acrylic version anyway even if it's just the top and bottom as that would look VERY cool!

Absolutely incredible video brother! Thank you so much. I am so intrigued by puzzle boxes. I’m working on a box design that might make some minds explode! So excited! I’ve been using 3D software for about 20 years now and wanted to ask if Rhino 3D is a better product than Blender as I cannot afford production quality 3D software. Is Rhino 3D relatively affordable? I can look it up but I just wanted to ask. Lol!
Thanks again and I look forward to your next video!

Hi Fubar, i'm so happy to hear your enjoying the video.
Being perfectly honest i'm moving form rhino to blender to make all the information i'm providing as accessible as possible. This is why i'm currently creating a blender precision modeling course and then once I've done that i'll be going back to a few puzzle box tutorials using blender.

Maker Tales Awesome! Thank you very much for getting back to me. Once again, an amazing video. Well executed and completely balanced, even for people who have no concept of puzzle boxes or 3D software. Well done! So excited that you’re switching to blender. That will make so much more sense to me during the 3D design process. I can’t wait to watch the new stuff. Thank again. God is so Good. Love you all and you all matter to me.
