- This video is about a variety Kerala style chicken roast recipe. Usually it is prepared with onion. But in this recipe we replaced onion with shallots also called Cheriyulli which is more flavourful. This side dish goes well with almost all main course dishes. Happy cooking!

Chicken (ചിക്കൻ) - 1.2 kg
Turmeric Powder (മഞ്ഞള്‍പൊടി) - ½ Teaspoon
Chilli Powder (മുളകുപൊടി) - 1 Teaspoon
Salt (ഉപ്പ്) - 1+1 Teaspoon
Lime / Lemon Juice (നാരങ്ങാനീര്) - 1½ Teaspoon
Shallots (ചെറിയ ഉള്ളി) - 400 gm (3 Cups)
Coconut Oil (വെളിച്ചെണ്ണ) - 6 Tablespoons
Ginger (ഇഞ്ചി) - 2 Inch Piece
Garlic (വെളുത്തുള്ളി) - 12 Cloves
Curry Leaves (കറിവേപ്പില) - 3 Sprigs
Chilli Flakes (ഉണക്കമുളക് ചതച്ചത്) - 1½ Teaspoon
Coriander Powder (മല്ലിപ്പൊടി) - 1½ Teaspoon
Kashmiri Chilli Powder (കാശ്മീരി മുളകുപൊടി) - 2½ Tablespoon
Garam Masala (ഗരം മസാല) - 1 Teaspoon
Water (വെള്ളം) - ½ Cup (125 ml)
Black Pepper Powder (കുരുമുളകുപൊടി) - ½ Teaspoon

Hi Shaan, just made this right now and it's DELICIOUS! I usually get the salt wrong, but this time thanks to your careful measurements I just blindly followed your instructions and tasted it only at the end. Bought some small onions yesterday at the market and wanted a chicken dish which depends on it for taste (a change from the usual coconut based ones) and as usual I'm glad I chose your recipe. Thanks for making such a precise recipe and detailed video.
PS: I had only 500g chicken, so I halved your 1.2kg quantities and used about 100g of pumpkin extra . I'm actually quite happy with the end result and will do it again next time!
