- This was a really fun project to be involved in. Phil Morisson From Driftworks contacted me to ask if i'd be up for the challenge of fabrication a set of equal length headers, with the longest primaries physically possible. The answer was obviously yes!
So watch me go through the process of the initial thoughts and ideas, right through to the painstaking cutting and welding. This was a hell of a job, around 100 hours work condensed right down to 40 minutes, but i'm sure you'll agree the end result and sound are soo worth it!!
This was one hell of a job to do & film at the same time, but hopefully it makes for some good viewing. Thanks🤘🏻
Awesome
incredible works Mate!
emailed you about e36 m3 custom headers..super excited to hear from you!
I know I told you a thousand times, but: Absolutely phenomenal work Adam! 😎. I still get a buzz out of any bit of driving I do in the car. Also, I know what it's like trying to film over long and tedious jobs, so once again hats off to you for capturing it all! See you soon bud.
Phil
Thanks Phil, much appreciated ✌🏻
Excellent, not only the lovely exhaust, but a very well executed explanation of the construction and well recorded and edited. I especially liked the cone building. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Work of art mate👏
Thanks Matt!
like watching a fine artist at work!!
What a great job!!! And by the way, love your presentation/explanation of process and the reasoning that informs it!!! Thank you.
Thanks!
Definitely interesting, i love watching people problem solve when they fsbricate, I guess the cherry on the cake is how happy Phil is with the end result, well done!
Thanks for watching!
👌👌👌👌👌👌👌it sounds amazing just like an extremely quick motorbike 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
This is the greatest video on the internet.
Great job filming and documenting it Adam. I struggle to even get a few decent pics most of the time so I can appreciate just how much. Work goes into such a comprehensive video
Thanks Dave. Definitely added a few hours on that’s for sure!
Hoping you and Jonny get together with the RetroPower boys and do some collaboration videos 👍
Wasn’t sure that 40 minutes of tube work would be entertaining - but it was absolutely brilliant and the quality of the workmanship was outstanding. Love your work! 👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed it
What a lovely sound
Thanks for taking the time and effort of filming the process - you did a brilliant job of both the fabrication and recording Adam!
Thank you very much!
that was awsome mate 💪🏻 i’ve just finished fabricating a lorry hx35 twin scroll turbo full exhuast front to back on my 1987 944 turbo ,.. major surgery thousands of labour hours on my back in the garage ,…but i did it DIY style with 304 stainless and a mig,..but did bung and preasure test all my sections …. yet to try it on road few more mods t he n tune first 👍🏻 love your videos ,…and work….QUALITY!!👌🏼

Outstanding professionalism and skill. I loved watching this. Class act!! Awesome work Adam!
Glad you enjoyed it!
It's always great hearing a car you built an exhaust for. I did a set of pipes with a backbox delete to go on an E34 530i manual, using Fabco parts. That thing sounded amazing!! The owner came to my house so I could hear it after he fitted it, did a burn out off my neighbours drive as he got the wrong house 😂.
Did an Opel Manta GTE with a 2.5" exhaust using Fabco bits too. That sounded amazing. Smidge on the loud side, but very nice!
Nicely done 👍
Outstanding job you had done what a perfect sound on a perfect car Adam great video 🫶🏻
Thanks 👍
Top job and sounds awesome. 👍👍
gained a subscriber. Great video and even better work!!!
Outstanding work! Use of the 3d print and ice engine work to mock up was perfect. Subscribed! That car sounds sooooo sick now!
I am simply in awe. It looks like a Formula 1 system and sounds nearly as good as my Skoda.
Excellent job mate. Awesome sound!
Thanks a lot!
Great video, very interesting to see the process. You have some serious skills, Adam 👍
Thanks!
Exceptional! Can’t say more than that. 👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@FabCoUK I spotted the car on the lift in the last Late Brake allegro update. DW then launched their take on the process, so was waiting for this. Very impressive buddy. 👊🏻
I don't think it would be easy to find a better sounding 6 cylinder than this. Wow!
What a fantastic job you did. Oh the sound!! Just epic 🥰
Thank you! 🤗
What an incredible well done job there, getting it all fitted and welded.. 💯%👍👍🇩🇰
Mat Armstrong needs one of these headers.
Last time I was working under my car I never lost my bearings but I did lose my marbles and never got them back 🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪 You’re a true master of your art 👍🏻🏴
Sorry to hear that😅
What a sound
What a cracking job looks and sounds awesome
Thanks!
Was waiting for this.
Very nice build and the sound on the video is great I can imagine what it's like in real life 😮
Glad you like it!
Great job, from plan to finish Adam!!! Unbelievable sound!!!
Thanks a lot!
Absolutely riveting. Wow. Brilliant.
Thanks🤘🏻
Another lovely job Adam!! Well done mate!👍👍
Thanks 👍
Stunning work
Many thanks!
Incredible work as always mate! 👌🏻
Thanks a ton!
What a great video, thoroughly enjoyed watching it, fantastic workmanship.👍🤩
Thanks 👍
You’ve got incredible talent, keep up the top work
Thank you! Will do!
Those welds are things of beauty
Thanks!
Fantastic work, the end result must be so satisfying.
It was!
So impressed.. amazing engineering skills . you are so talented mate
Thank you! Cheers!
@10:37 that’s why you need to keep a journal 🥁
Superb! Love it mate, blinding craftsmanship as always. It's such a pleasure watching you work.
Thank you very much!
top video, i hope this gets you get some good sales. so valuable seeing you work like this.
Thanks!😃
Beautiful symphony from the 992, I can imagine if it was straight pipe with no opf filter.
Incredible job.
Thanks!
Some challenge, beautifully executed.
Thank you very much!
Well worth the watch, i found ovaling the flange pipes very useful for the future exhaust revisions on my own project.
Glad it helped!
One for Mat Armstrong to pick up for his hand luggage!
Wow that was incredible, but the end result is what I remember late 80’s formula 1 cars used to sound like.
😎
Instant subscription 😳
Love how well you know your craft. Feel kinda bad for you though you get to spend all that time creating a master piece to see someone else just take it away. 😅 stunning work though pal.
Thanks! No need to feel bad, I’d have no need to create if there wasn’t a demand in the first place 😊
Sculpture in metal fantastic job .
Thanks 😊
Hell yeah, Mr FabCo
Looks like a complex problem approached with skill and a lot of patience
Nice welds too.
Thanks!
Sounds like an exotic race car - sweet
Sure does 😎
Proper ending that! love it when they get driven properly :D
😎
Awesome job Adam. The car sounds great almost 1990s F1
Thanks!
Nice to see you can build an exhaust system (or a large part of it) without needing to build the car first... 😆 👍
i was thumbs up # 992... nice.
Great work, as always. Your client obviously has a few quid 👌
This is Phil Morrison we are talking about!!🤣🤣
Awesome
Fantastic! Really interesting to watch. I'm wanting some equal length and better flowing manifolds for my V8 Vantage, but access is horrific. There are some off-the-shelf options, but I do love the the idea of this!
Go for it!
👍👍👍😎👍👍👍
Love it...
Cary
Nz
🤔🤔🤔 I guess Cardboard Cad is no good for this application ? 🤣🤣 dude Awesome job as always 😁😁🤘🤘
😁
Brilliant,
Thanks!
nice work. would have been interesting to get the car on a dyno before and after. building an exhaust of my own, did look at buying tubes from you but brexit said no.
Great content filming was agreat effort and that thing doesn't sound like the distinctive porsche boxer sound its almost like a Lamborghini when its cracking through the gears when its not on limiter lookig forward for a few more like this✔✔👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Nice
Thanks
It sounds like an old V10 F1 engine!
🏎😎
Hey Adam, fancy doing a prototype split side exhaust manifolds for S63B44 to make it finally sound like it should?
Beautiful looking exhaust but once she's running they're gonna MELT 😮
Nothing melted yet!
@@FabCoUK 🤞👍
@@FabCoUKThats modern plastic for ya 😅
An interesting video. From my knowledge of fluid dynamics telling me bends are bad, can I assume the benefit of equal headers outweighs the negatives of sharp bends?
The goal was sound, not performance. Additional bends rarely reduce performance by any measurable margin
Bloody beautiful work. What’s the cost for something like this?
Great video. But why couldn't go straight from collectors (3 to 1) in to the cat? Look like you restrict the exhaust flow.
Interesting video because it’s unusual for me to watch someone making a custom exhaust where ultimate power isn’t the only, or even the primary motivation.
Glad you liked it!
Great work and an amazing sound! What does the length of the header do to the sound? Did you compensate for the offset cylinder banks in the total length of the exhaust, as in having the forward bank's collector moved slightly back so that the exhaust length could be the same on both sides or is this even a thing?
The longer length creates a more high pitched sound. They’re equal length both sides
@@FabCoUK Do you know why the sound is higher pitched with a longer pipe? Are the primaries equal length or is the whole header setup identical length left and right?
@@FabCoUK I can find a lot of data for the contrary. For example in musical instruments a longer pipe means lower pitch.
How do you account for expansion when hot? Is it just estimated from experience?
More or less 😊
I know you moved workshops “not very far from me tbh 😂”, but how do you go on with bolting your 2 post lifts in place ?. I mean what thickness of concrete are you using ?.
Cheers 👍
Definitely take advice from an expert 😅
*Promo SM* 😀
Fuckin hell that sounds good.
🫢
Interesting spelling of fabrication 😅😅
Have a shot avery time he says kinda/of I swear you will get smashed , sorry love your content
Have fun 🍺
