In 2008 I had my first Heart Attack, I was living in country South Australia (450km to Adelaide), within 2 hours I was on the Flying Doctors plane (free), ambulance to/from hospital/plane, 2 weeks in with stents put in. Total cost $0.
i had to go 1 hour to hospital in nsw cost me $375
My old man was in the UK last year and started having knee problems, kept getting the wrong advice and messed around with appointments he just came back to Australia to get checked out
I had to take my husband to the hospital last week - public, not private. We arrived at 5.30am, by 6am he had had his blood test and had a dose of intravenous antibiotics. By 10.30 his X-rays had been done and by 11 he was in a semi private room with 1 other person in a recliner chair. By 1pm he was in his own private room with a bed. He received 24hr care over night, lunch, dinner & breakfast, 3 additional rounds of antibiotics along with 6 hourly pain medication, and then a prescription… I won’t lie, at first I thought we made a mistake and went to the private hospital and I was pooping myself a little bit that there was going to be a bill. But at 9am the following day, they came in with a doctors certificate for BOTH OF US for work, a list of specialists we could see and said we could leave whenever we wanted… I will never complain about tax again after that!
Medicine is about health in Australia, not about profit. My single parent mother was GP who bulk billed, that is where people see the doctor with a Medicare card and no money.
I am a skippy... my friend does nightshift at McDonald's and is on $36 an hour... she leads a great life!

I recently was unwell and my doctor ordered some tests done. Within 1/2 an hour I had an ECG, an Ultrasound and a Cat scan, (all in the same place). My doctor had all results the next day.
Similar story here. I live in a rural-ish area just outside of Melbourne. Yhebother day, I rang to book an appointment with my GP about 10 min drive away. Booked an appointment in 90 min time only because I hadn't yet had a shower and needed to walk the dog first. They also have a pathology service at the doctors surgury and other scans are available at another place only 15-20 min away. Driving home I pass a pharmacy to get any meds.
My 91 year old father-in-law lives with us and has mobility issues. If the doctor doesn't need to physically see him, he gets a phone consultation. The doctor sends prescriptions electronically to the pharmacy so I can just pick up his medications next time I'm at the shops.
It is quick, easy, and this is all perfectly normal.
Same and I'm in a rural town NSW, so I guess I should be glad we live here :)

As an Australian thr cost of living is becoming more difficult compared to what we've been used to. I know it sounds ungrateful but back in the day Australians expected to grow up and own homes.

My Doctor’s has a Pathology Office inside the Doctor’s. There is a room they operate in that you can access from the waiting room by grabbing a number at their door. Then you wait til your number is called. There is usually not a line. It is very fast and efficient.

American coffee is just brown sadness water. Aussie coffee is the best and I've travelled all over the world.

At high school, you can get iced coffee, probably not hot coffee. Starbucks is AWFUL. Waitstaff in Australia generally are helpful and friendly and it's not because of chasing tips. After getting married, my wife and I worked for 2 years at an upmarket island resort on the Great Barrier Reef and saved a substantial proportion of the cost of our first (very average) house in Brisbane.
You can get coffee at many high schools- but at my daughter’s high school you could only buy it if you were in year 12. I guess that sounds fair enough?
The thing about our high minimum wage is this. If you are prepared to live frugally, even on the minimum wage, you can have money every week to put towards some worthwhile aim. We are basically "managing" more money. The current problem is the increase in cost of housing and rental. More public housing (for rent) is desperately needed.

G'day Guys! Along with a basic minimum wage we also have really good penalty rates for working evening/night shifts, weekends and public holidays. Then there is long service leave which is slightly different in each state but here after 10 years working for an employer you are entitled to 2 months extra leave on top of normal annual leave. It is pro rata for every year after that. Add to that most of us get one day off every 4 weeks since we work 40 hours but are paid for 38 so at the end of 4 weeks you are entitled to a paid day off since you have already worked those hours... Cheers!

They made a good point about fair pay. If an Aussie does not go overseas they may not realize how better off people are paid here for minimum wage.

Even up in Emerald, a town 3.5 hrs from the nearest “big” regional city, and 7 hours from our state capital, I was able to have a doctors appointment in the morning and book a CT scan for later that same day… we do have it good here!

5:28 the coffee at high school would usually be iced coffee (until the senior years). I would way rather my 12 year old have a latte with one or two sugars than a can of coke.
I’ve always believed (as I think most Australians do) that if you work a 40 hour week in any job, you should be able to pay for basic living costs (rent, utilities, food and basic clothing)
Australia learned about coffee from Italian and Greek immigrants who came to Australia during the War years and thrived here. It seems that in the US there’s just coffee, like one kind and they drink it black. In Australia. We have hundreds of coffee bean blends from the best crops around the world, and our baristas know how to make it to our tastes, which is why we love to go to our favourite local cafe, have our coffee made by a barista who knows us, and enjoy the company of a friend and a catch up. It’s also why Starbucks failed in Australia, because they assumed their products could be set up here and it would take off like in the US. Big mistake! They never did any market research and had to close about 60 of their stores! Ask an Aussie what they think of Starbucks and the answer will be something like this: “They don’t make coffee, they make desserts!” Aussies drink Espresso in the morning and cappuccino in the afternoon. All of our baristas start with an espresso and use that to make the preferred coffee style. There’s no other way to do it properly, although at home, poor-over is often the easiest method.
Even the coffee at my local 7/11 is better than any coffee I ever drank when in the US for 6 months.

As a lady, there are two things that I think are unfair or even cruel to do to guys. Don't get upset and automatically expect him to know why. Men aren't mind-readers. I think women who pretend to cry just to get their way are the lowest of the low. It's really emotional abuse 😢, which can severely damage a relationship because he might stop trusting you. Not to mention you're messing with his mind. So if you're lucky to find yourself a nice kind, loving man, respect him and his protective nature. A girl's/lady's tears are a powerful thing when it comes to a decent guy, so only cry if you mean it. Don't destroy him for no good reason.
In regards to pay, our local backer is advertising for casual bakery staff. Pay from $25 - $45 per hour. Re financial kick start, my nephew has retired from his job with BHP. He worked as an electrician on the long launch trains in WA. He saved him money and now, at 35 years old, is retired. He bought six units on the Gold Coast which he rents. That is his “wage” now.

My daughter is 20 and earning over 80 thousand a year, by 30 years of age she will definitely be earning at least over 150 to 170. Only graduating high school no university no college. Love my Australia.
Starbucks actually failed here in Oz, most Aussies don’t consider coffee made in Starbucks as “real coffee”

I went to my doctor in Melbourne one morning last week (booked the previous arvo) with a persistent sore throat. No charge for the consultation (bulk billed). He referred me to a pathology clinic near my home for an ultrasound. As I got home from the doctor the phone rang. It was the pathology clinic ringing up to see when I wanted to come in for the ultrasound, so I chose after lunch. Went there and (after refund) the ultrasound cost AU$50 (US$39). The return visit to see my doctor with the results will also be free. Oh, by the way, my doctor saw I hadn't had a general blood test for two years so I had my blood tested as well, totally free. He said when the test results come through **he will ring me** and give me the details over the phone, also free of charge. Also just recently had pneumococcal vaccination (pneumonia), Shingrix vaccination (shingles), flu vaccination and sixth Covid vaccination (all free).

I broke my finger playing cricket, I went to the 24 hour clinic at around 8.30pm 20th of December and got seen by a doctor, he sent me for xrays at the hospital next door and it was packed. I got taken in for the xrays and sent back to the doctor, I got my results and had my hand splinted up and then got my medication. I left the doctor at 9.05pm
I'm glad they added the kick-start segment. It's good that now, if you are prepared to do a hard days work, you will be rewarded. Wasn't always the case.
FIFO or fly in, fly out is great if you can handle 12hr shifts often with only one day off in seven, 56hr week over four or five weeks or you work two or three weeks straight then have two weeks off. Neil, the best thing is to always say yes to everything, then go to a small dark room cry in the corner and drink a six pack 🤣🤣🤣🤣remember you're always wrong even when you're right.
Perth, West aust here. My wages is AUD$1100 a week, after tax. Mortgage is about AUD$350 a week... so yeah.. we're doing alright. 😂
Things are good but not perfect in Australia. Right now in Adelaide there's a problem with patients arriving by ambulance having to wait before being treated. It's called 'ramping' because the ambulances have to wait on the approach ramp to the ED. I have no first hand experience but it constantly makes the news and somebody else might
The pay depends on the job. I used to work in aged care and it was mentally and physically draining and was lucky to get $23/hr. It really sucked.

I'll testify to the medical system. My family thinks I'm crazy, but hadn't even been to a doctor in 20 years. Last year broke my ankle in three places... Taken to hospital and bang... Full ankle reconstruction by a specialist , no problem.

weird cairns must be an anomaly because at the least in the hospital and one general practitioner it took in general over three hours to see a doctor even if they deal with you quickly and thats multiple visits over the last ten years

I am NOT a cofee drinker. Basically only when given a cup of coffee at a meeting or as happened on a city tour while tme off on a business trip. Got to try a Starbucks once. If I grade Starbuck coffee, I would only say, " A good reason to give up having coffee at all", similar to coffee served in a US restaurant, from the all day brewing "stewed" jug of percolated junk.

Alll australians pay a medicare levi (medicare is our governemnt funded health care provider) in their tax each year. Its about $700 or so per year and that covers anything that isnt elective like eye surgery and things like that..

I think Minimum wage at the moment is between $22 - $25 per hour (unless you are a teenager) also the FIFO/mines stuff is true, my husbands father came here from Italy in the 60's and couldn't speak English and worked in the mines and is a self made man - he is very wealthy now and happily retired!

Have Starbucks started making coffee? They failed in Australia because of their fake coffee….honestly, my stomach turns at the thought of being asked about syrups and toppings! They are reserved for kids drinks and milkshakes here in Australia.
I was on an American cruise ship last week (wont name and defame them)….but seriously, there was no coffee onboard at all! We had open access to the ‘specialty coffees’….just the name is a red flag……it took 9 days for us to get a coffee that almost tasted like coffee. Is it because coffee beans are expensive, so businesses save by reducing their use? I am not sure, but at the end, I was ordering a double espresso (with nothing added), a flat white, and adding a few drops of the flat white into he espresso….it almost tasked like genuine coffee……but I still hated the giant cups it came in…..really uncivilised…..I am not a caveman, I don’t need a bucket to drink a coffee from!
I'm a FIFO worker I get paid $3580 per week which is great but comes with sacrifices. I lost my girlfriend because of it and miss family and friends

I see what you are saying, but compare the size of the Netherlands to Australia. It's barely the size of Tasmania.
That's a pretty broad statement " Rural Australia has awful health care", myself and thousands of nurses and drs would have a problem with your statement. We work with what we have, and become skilled in multiple different speciality areas because we have to. You need to be more specific...like ....rural places have limited resources and funding compared to city areas. Rural places have trouble actually getting nurses let alone drs or radiologists to staff clinics/hospitals. Most drs can't fully decipher x-rays. They should make drs go to rural areas before they can specialise....like how teachers have to do a few years in rural areas before they can settle into the city/ town of their choice.( If they even still do that, I know they used to....)

I just gotta say......your voices are FAR too quiet when compared to the volume of the videos you review. You either need to use compression software on your mic volumes, or just turn up your levels and be careful not to shout. It is usually very hard to hear your commentary and asides, if keeping the reviewed video levels at a comfortable point.

Only thing you had to put 10 cents for milk otherwise free that was over 40 years ago it been around along time
He fought the school to do it as teaching responsibility to use in moderation and learn the skills to look after yourself
Because you had to make it and financially as well and why they negotiated only 2 cups per lesson
We just do back they don't survive and why most are polite also you are trained to deal with issue's that'll happen
