In Australia, we got speed cameras every bloody where and the fines are huge.
I’m not rich enough to speed.
BTW, In Oz, cops can pull you over just for a license check or an alcohol breath test or a vehicle inspection (road worthy).

      You are absolutely correct!
Speed cameras everywhere with fines of $200 to $450 and lose of licence after that.
Also pretty much all Aussies regard speed cameras as "revenue raisers" their just everywhere so the government can raise money thru all the fines!
The cameras that catch the most offences make approx $1million per month!

The cop looked in and said " too much paperwork, just slow down, you've got a bit going on". Mum skipped a fine without a word.😂

So wrong about speed limits .
Speed limits are for revenue and ignorant votes.
Independent studies show that most speed limits are well under the safe speed, and cause more serious accidents than the faster safe speed.
Most avoidable accidents are caused by a lack of concentration and even sleep......the armchair effect.

I was just home in Oz (from where i live in Chicago) and the price for speeding tickets is off the charts. Also, if you're a newer driver you can lose your license very easily for speeding infractions. It's much much stricter than the US, so i can absolutely understand why people don't speed as much there.

The one time I can remember by British sister-in-law losing her temper happened when they were in Australia and my brother was fined for speeding. We found that dreaded photo of Mum's car in the mail. She made him follow her into the bedroom and let him have it. The walls in this house are fairly thin, so I listened in a little. She said, "Didn't I tell you to slow down! Look at what you've done to your mother!"

You can't follow someone to avoid a traffic fine by hoping he'll get pulled over. Most enforcement here uses cameras. Speed, Red Light, Mobile Phone/Seatbelt. It's all cameras. The police cover the egregious stuff, as well as random breath testing and drug swabs.
The fines are eye wateringly large. And you lose points off your license. And you have to declare certain offences to your insurer lest they deny a payout when you crash, and they'll hit you with higher premiums once you declare, or just refuse to renew the insurance policy.
Note that traffic enforcement here is a state government thing. There are very few things a state government can tax. So they raise revenue from fines. They'll claim the money goes into road upgrades, but that's money they'd have had to spend anyway and raise taxes for, so it's the same thing.

SPEED limits in Australia are not suggestions. The coppers will come down hard. Cheapest fine is $200 or so plus 3 points of you license. It exponentially grow after that. If your something like 40 over, you can get arrested straight away. You only get 11 points with a clean record. Once you loose your license, due to poor public transport, you loose your job.
That's why everyone sticks to the rules. The cost (including in lifes lost in accidents) is not worth it. So pointless buying fancy fast cars.

You can flash your lights with the big trucks. If they overtake you it helps them if you let them know there is enough room for them to pull back in.Also you can let them know you're behind them & they will flash indicators to let you know you can go past. I've had some terrific car trips in the country by being courteous with the big trucks. You are in their backyard....... If you have kids with you they'll love the exchange.Often the truckies will blow their horn for them. Cats in Australia should be kept inside at night particularly. Cats & many Oz creatures are nocturnal.......death is in the darkness.

It is illegal to turn on high beams within 300m of another vehicle.
Turning your low beams on and off is not illegal.
Alerting other drivers to a police location can be deemed as hindering police during operations of their duties.
Alerting an oncoming driver that they need to check their speed is a positive gesture for road safety, which is the only reason the police are there, because it is not about revenue raising.

In Australia you can be fined for speeding by only a couple of kph. The fine and consequences increase rapidly by the extent over the limit. Each speeding fine gains points that vary also by amount over the limit. Go significantly over limit and license can be gone immediately. Gain 12 points and license is automatically gone for at least a year. Points persiat for 3 years before expiring, so if you regularly gain points you can quickly get your score of 12 points. Points are also applied for other breeches of road laws, parking fines, red light, illegal turns, seatbelt, mobile phone use and so many more. The seatbelt and phone use are now captured by cameras, AI evaluated inage of all traffic, if AI judges possible breeches, the image is further human analysed. You are guilty unless YOU can prove not guilty. There are plenty cases now fined, where there were mistakes in identification of the offence. POINTS are always painful due to accumulation problems leading to losing drivers license.
Expired regustration is now also automatically detected in flowing traffic. Fine issued, car must be left parked near detection and police stop, till reregistered, even if expired within past few hours. Long failure of being registered may require a full roadworthy inspection to reregister the vehicle. Some states require periodic roadworthy check in anycase.
No annual rego sticker is used any more. The license plate is used, and match to vehicle type/description, I believe is part of the automatic detection
Additionally drivers must submit to booze and drugs inspections at mobile test stops, where many even most traffic is pulled aside by several police, each must blow for zlcohol test, and pass a detection 'lollypop' over the tongue on drug detection.
Fixed soeed cameras as well as mobile speed cameras are used. Some highways have average speed detection over consuderable distance detections. No remember camera location and slowing for those, but speeding inbetween. Your speed average between two or more detection cameras is used, so no possibility of going over limit and only slowing for the cameras. While warning signs exist that fixed cameras are used in a region of highway, the cameras are kept moderately hidden under bridges, behind over highway signage. Quitexa number of drivers get caught regularly, good tevenue for government and speeding drivers soon become pedestrians. BETTER STICK TO SPEED LIMITS, WEAR SEATBELT PROPERLY, DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE, DO NOT USE DRUGS AND DRIVE.
Drive unlicensdd and face stiff fines and possible jail time. Hoon or regularly excessive soedd and your car can be impounded, and in some cases get crushed.
Yea Australians are better keeping to legal requirements, or may cease driving for some time and extreme permantly.

Talking about wildlife If you go fishing in Australia its very important to make sure you throw female fish back into the water, people like to trophy the biggest fish but females are the breeders so please through back the big females, also with crabs through back females, Jenny's as we call them its so important. Flashing headlights is as you say but also if a big truck needs to merge in front of you you can flash to let the truck driver know he can merge in front of you. Shoes is a good one bang your shoes together if you have left them outside because you never know what might crawl in. Disappointed about your speeding. Putting other drivers at risk is not cool or funny. 😢

My brother in law got done by a speed camera on Christmas day for being 7 km over the speed limit $350 and 3 points off his licence. It's not worth speeding. 🇦🇺🦘🐨
