There is no true blue Aussie that wouldn't get a tear in their eye when hearing this song. (As well as "i am Australian") we dont get all patriotic hand on heart, normally ... But we do feel pride, when we hear our unofficial anthems, like this one.
I agree so much.
Facts.
Literally had a tear in my eye and scrolled down to see this as top comment.
Not just a tear for me, I'm bawling lol. It's usually the line that goes "and someday we'll all be together once more" that does me in.
@@goldievarney3536 me too. That exact line.
I am, you are, we are Australian. That line gets me every time.
Im a British Jamaican and I moved to Australia 6 yrs ago with my Aussie hubby. I’m now an Australian citizen living in South Australia and let me tell you, I LOVE LOVE AUSTRALIA 🇦🇺 This is my country now and if you and when you come here, you will NEVER be disappointed! This place is magic and I’m so blessed and grateful to be here!
PS - I now have a little Aussie boy too. It amazes me every time I hear his little accent! It’s so stinking cute 😂
I moved to Australia from California 15 years ago and just this week I became an Australian Citizen. Its pretty awesome
Congrats on your official Aussie membership! One of us! One of us!

Welcome to my house♥.
Congratulations 🎉❤
You bloody ripper!!!
Welcome home brother
As an Aboriginal woman - thank you for being respectful of language when speaking or referring to us.
There's always one.
Aboriginal has the word ORIGINAL in it. Can't understand why anyone would be concerned about a word that clearly defines a race as being the original inhabitants of a nation.
Yaegl country here, Northern rivers NSW.
@@thepunisher3640lol I was thinking the same.
@nikki2610 🙄 get over yourself
This was re-designed for when the Australian borders re-opened after COVID closure. It played on the QANTAS (Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services) planes returning to Australia.
Coming into Sydney at night with this playing, the Aussies who had been stranded overseas for months to years were in tears.
Oh yes.
@@c8Lorraine1 ❤
Yes. I always think of Qantas! 👍❤
Also it was part of the 100 years of the airline
Lots of repatriation flights came into Darwin if you recall. Only time we get Dreamliners landing up here!
I was in LA when COVID hit, I was stuck there for 2 years and when we finally boarded the plane to come home, we taxied down the runway while we waited in line to take off they played this over the loud speaker, everyone instantly hushed and omg I burst into tears along with most of the other passengers. It felt like we were home already and we hadn't even taken off yet!! 🥰
OMG I'm in tears and emotional just imagining this, because that's exactly how it is, it's home, no matter where we are, but to be away so long, ❤🇦🇺🦘
……every time I saw the ‘big white rat’, at an airport overseas’, I’d get very emotional, even before boarding. Being ON a QANTAS jet, I WAS home! I did this happily for 45 years’.
Oh jee wiz mate You got My eyes leaking!
We are a different breed. We take a little.of us wherever we go. I like to think we spread our form of mateship across the globe as a positive. But we all feel it. The land calls you home.
I'm.so.proud of my family who works for them. Joyce might be a pain, but they make us proud and bring us back.
You got me bawling my eyes out imagining that 😅
You want to hear what unity sounds like. Have a listen to 'I Am Australian'. There's a version with some parts sung in aboriginal languages. It's beautiful.
I wish they would make the indigenous verses MANDATORY to be sung with the English ones. I'm a white Aussie, but I absolutely love the indigenous ones. I want to sing them too !!!
Vote no to the voice and virtue signaling ASAP!!!!@@dm588
Just so you know, unity actually occurs when everyone starts speaking the same language.
@@coezi Exactly.. inclusiveness and respect with EVERYONE singing both.
By including only two of the many languages spoken in Australia? and which aboriginal language shall we choose? because there's over 250 of them with 800+ recognised dialects. Which ones get some benevolent 'inclusiveness' and which ones will you exclude?@@dm588
As an Australian I get a tear every time I hear this.
Yes. And I'm crying when I see how shameful QANTAS has acted in this Woke Voice thing. They need to crash and burn, go out of business.
Same here! 😢
As a kiwi this song gets me everytime!
I’m Australian, I live here. It’s my home. I’ve heard this song a thousand times. Yet I still got teary hearing this. It just.. gets you right in the heart every time.
It’s like it’s imbedded into the DNA.
This and ‘I Am Australian - the Seekers’
Thank you for doing this ❤
Also there are several versions of this but you see the flight attendants because Qantas did an ad for this - good pick up!
When I was out of the country for almost a year, and was headed home I wasn't emotional at all, then I boarded the Qantas flight where they played this song before takeoff and I automatically became a blubbering mess.
I can totally relate to this comment. I lived from NY to TN in the USA for Several years, & as much as I love the USA hearing this Song before departure every time stirred all the emotions held in our hearts while away from home. Being on board QANTAS the National Carrier with an impeccable Safety Record, We know will bring us back & forth with a comfort & warmth of home & Security.
I’ve lived and work full time internationally now for almost 15 years only making it home to Australia 🇦🇺 a handful of times during this period. I’ve come to the realisation over time though that we are most definitely 👍🏻 the lucky country, hands 🙌 down.
It was only by chance that I stumbled across this Utube channel today and WOW this song…..it hit me up 🤙. Thanks 🙏.
Australia 🇦🇺 is my home
Me: a blubbering mess reading this 😭💛
I'm crying watching this! Born in the UK, emigrated to Australia when I was 2. This is my home and I wouldnt want to live anywhere else. This song really captures the spirit of Australia - we travel all around the world, but love coming home. Wide open spaces, beautiful scenery, amazing history and culture and of course, our diverse flora and fauna.
This Choir is legit all kids goals in Australia who sing. It’s very prestigious.
The famous aussies in this are also royalty here.
This was first written and recorded by Peter Allen, an absolute icon of Aussie music. It should be our national anthem with no doubt. Hopefully it will be one day rather than whan 'Advance Australia Fair", which is our national anthem now. We are a diverse country and need to be inclusive.
I have been to the U.S. twice now, and every time I see that flying kangaroo sitting on the tarmac that means home it’s a beautiful sight 🇦🇺🐨🐨🇦🇺❤️
I've heard some Americans refer to it as a big old rat
@@terencemcculloch3294……actually, ‘big white rat’……
……in 1971, I flew home from Vienna, Austria. Upon boarding, the Chief Steward asked me if I wanted ‘a cuppa’! I’d been having to speak German for a month as my hosts’ couldn’t

His question was so ironic, & music to my ears!
@@elizabethroberts6215 I’m sorry, but how do you get a rat out of the flying kangaroo ? unless you don’t know the difference between a kangaroo and a rat 🇦🇺🐨🐨🇦🇺
Did you guys ever react to the Seekers "I Am Australian"? many of us would love this to be the National Anthem. Not many Aussies don't tear up to that one especially since Judith Durham passed last year. There is a the farewell performance version that has all 5 verses.
Not yet. We’ll have to check it out.

💯 agree 'I am Australian' should be our national anthem. It actually speaks to Australians. Much better than our current rather antiquated one.
This song was written by Peter Allen and yes here it is being used by our national airline Quantas as a form of adverting. It's their signature tune now and they refresh it every few years.
It gets us in our feels.
@@MudratCamper Good catch.

"Queensland And Northern Territory Airline Service" - Qantas.
The way you spelt it would be "Queensland um, And Northern Territory Airline Service. Best to drop the "u" for this one
Australians love to travel and tend to stay away for a long time, due to the distance, so this song resonates with many of us.
I moved to Australia from South Africa in 2023. In 2009 I became a dual citizen. I definitely call Australia home and I am a proud citizen.
As an Australian, and as a flight attendant that works for this airline currently living overseas- this video gets me every time I watch it. I have so much pride for my country, workplace and this campaign. Thanks for reacting 😌
As an immigrant to Australia, it's such a lovely song. So many versions across all cultures in Australia makes me so proud to live here 🥰🥰🤗🤗🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘❤️❤️❤️❤️
While the world is full of many wonders my life is complete without having left Australia's shores. I love my country.
No place like Australia. I'm proud to be called a Aussie.
Oof this got me.
I'm Australian, living in Chicago a few years. Even though I've made my life in the US after marrying an American, I always refer to Australia as "back home".
Did not expect to end up with a flood of emotion and tears when hearing this (it's the first time for me hearing it here), as I've never been particularly patriotic. I could say that im proud to be Australian but it's no big deal.
Thank you for appreciating our Indigenous peoples the way you did. The history of erasure at the hands of British colonisation is just as bad as what British colonisation did to the Indigenous peoples of North America.
So glad the algorithm gods did their thing and landed me here.
Much love. ❤
The first famous Australian playing the piano was popstar Kylie Minogue - Padam Padam
Wrong. Very very wrong. Peter Allen. Look him up.
I am Australian Aboriginal and love ‘ I am Australian in Pitjantjatjara language from NT Australia. The Central Australian Aboriginal women’s choir singing in traditional language was awesome. 🖤💛❤️
Pitjantjatjara language from NT Australia is there for 65k years? any alphabets?
@@chongqing6846 In Australia, there are over 300+ Aboriginal languages which are different phonetically and alphabetically to English. 100+ Aboriginal languages in the NT alone. Pitjantjatjara is just one. Seriously have you even met an Australian Aboriginal person who can speak their dialect fluently??? Please come to the NT and you will soon hear the difference between each spoken Australian Aboriginal language.
My beautiful country and beautiful people and this ought be our anthem it includes all of us and i cant hear it and not cry, i love being an Aussie, my kids run free
I'm an American living in Australia (since 2006) and watching this has me in tears!
Fair Dinkum, it never gets old, never fails to stir your emotion/tug at the heartstrings.
Everyone loves their own country.................... But this reminds us what there is to love about ours.
Glad you like it. 🙂
We are here for everyone and I shared a tear as well.. Welcome to our country.
I’ve seen this a thousand times, and still cry every time. Thanks,Peter Allen! Thanks guys. 🇦🇺🦘
Another ‘unofficial anthem’ for us is ‘I am Australian- The seekers’ another great song that gets us aussies in the feels.
And you're the voice
I love this song, it was written in 1980 by Peter Allen, who despite not always being treated well by his home or even some family, always held pride and fondness for his beginnings and country.
I am an Aussie, and remember when this song was first released by Allen, it always, always brings tears to my eyes, regardless of who or how it is performed.
Thank you for watching and appreciating it ❤
I Am Australian is a song you should check out by the original artists The Seekers. This line says all....We are one but we are many and from all the lands on earth we come...
This song was penned by Peter Allen in 1980 but it has mainly been used to advertise Qantas Airlines (Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services). QANTAS is our national airline.
……actually, it’s QANTAS Airways’, & has been so since that name was incorporated in 1967……
@@elizabethroberts6215 Sorry. You’re right. My bad.
The song was written by Peter Allen it should be one of our Athems I'm an Aussie and still love singing this song it's our pride of our country
I've grown up with this song, & I ALWAYS get goose bumps. Qantas did good with this version, bringing in those Australian Celebs with the Australian Youth Choir 💖 *chef's kiss*

I’m Aussie, and I always get tears in my eyes whenever I watch that. There is this deep love that we all have for our home. ❤
Beautiful clip guys! ❤
I’ve always said that this should be our national anthem instead of the dreary one we have now…this is far more beautiful…can you imagine this playing with our athletes singing along to this after winning a medal at the Olympics???!!!!❤❤❤
Yep, we have Rugby League, Rugby Union, Australian Rules Football, and Soccer.
This also usually played on international return flights to Australia before landing.
dont forget ... drop bear dodging
And don’t forget the cricket as well
I am Australian & this is a commercial for for national carrier Qantas. Its not not just a brand or marketing ploy. Qantas i say is a part of our national identity. And I get teary when i see this ❤
Proud Australian here. Makes me teary and happy at the same time.
G-day guys, as a true blue Australian, I really wish this would become our national anthem! Great full for being Australian. I love Australia 🇦🇺🥰🐨🐍🐊🦎🐋🐪🦘
I Am Australian is less commercial and about inclusiveness.
I feel deeply privileged to have been born in Australia. What a wonderful place to live a life!
Better pre voice and pre covid
It’s just becoming a place people live now.
If you loved this, check out The Seekers 2017 farewell concert, sing I am Australian. Given that they are near on 70 years old at the time. Still gives me chills.🇦🇺
Also love the fact it’s almost always sung by the Australian girls choir
I’m a proud Australian Thankyou for playing this we have the most beautiful country in the world ❤
We may not be united in everything .. However when it comes to this unofficial Anthem .. there ain't many Aussies out there who don't tear up or feel emotion when this comes on air.. Tank you Peter Allen !!
From Australia 🇦🇺
It makes me proud to see our country presented like that overseas 😊
There is also a great version of this song, sung by Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, at Oprah Winfrey's Australian episode filmed outside the Sydney Opera house.
Honestly our Aussies songs are always made with love and heart for our people and country. I'm 33 born here and still so much more to learn.
The history of every part as well as the aboriginal culture combined, those stories with bring tears of beauty to your eyes alone

I still tear up when I watch this video, I am also so Proud to be an Indigenous Australian
There's nowhere else on Earth like Australia because our continent split off from the rest of the world forever ago, so most of our plant and animal life is unique. I've travelled a bit and there is always a point where every one of my skin cells and my entire body longs to be home, to smell it, feel it, be immersed in it. I love my country and I'm so glad I was born here. I just hear the first bars and I'm crying like a baby, even when home, with my feet on beautiful Aussie soil.
As an Australian myself, every time I hear this song and see these ads it makes me so emotional ❤
Y'all need to watch "I am Australian" that will have your eyes watering all day
Another good one for you is "I am Australian" by The Seekers
You both just popped up in my feed thank you as an Aussie living in Melbourne shown at 1.49 I LOVE how much you guys know about Australia, and your wording and respect for our indigenous people is beautiful…thank you❤️🌏🐨🇦🇺

This song was written and performed by singer songwriter Peter Allen. A wonderful talent from Tenterfield, Australia. He married Liza Minnelli and there is a broadway show about his life.
Check it out.
The song Tenterfield Saddler is one of the most heart warming bio songs I ever heard.
A few years ago I spent 12 months living in USA and one day I was driving from Florida back to Augusta. I had a cd on in the car I make before I left home and one of the songs on it was I still call Australia home. Needless to say as an Aussie I missed home and when the started play in the car I burst into tears and realized how fantastic my home country is and missed it. However I did enjoy your country but after hearing the song I couldn’t wait to step onto Aussie soil again 😊
Wonderful video 😊 As an Australian, I always feel emotional whenever I see QANTAS videos on tv with the song “I still call Australia home”. Thank you for the video 😊👍
Gosebumps every time ❤. 🇦🇺
I love America and my fellow Americans. Been there 17 times. I love you guys. America is like my home land. Australia and America are best friends. Sending love from Melbourne Australia.
I’m Australian and have sung in choirs since I was a child. I lived outside of Australia for nearly 29 years. I cannot sing this song without bursting into tears.
Yeh..l still cry when l watch this one .. its so beautiful .. and l'm not even Australian, although l have lived here for 40+ years and fully appreciate this beautiful land and its people.
You should watch 'We Are One' when my granddaughter would hear it as a toddler she would RUN from wherever she was in the house to watch it on telly .. her face a picture of total awe and devotion.
As An Australian Indigenous I Love Seeing You Guys React To Things Like This Its Truly Different I Am Definitely Subscribing 😍 Hope To See More Amazing Content & Hopefully Something More Related To My People 🥰 That Would Be Amazing 👏🏽
I'm an english-aboriginal who only recently found what her tribes were. For some reason, my mother who is the aboriginal one decided to not tell me anything and only talked about it after disowning me.
Thank you so much for being so respectful to my culture. It hit hard that my own mother didn't respect our culture enough to teach me and my siblings about it, so thank you so much 😊❤️
The dancers in the dessert are from Bangarra Dance Theatre, a contemporary dance company that integrates Australia's First Nations culture and dance with modern dance. They are the BEST. Absolutely stunning
I’ve seen this ad 20+ times in different versions of it and it makes me cry every time! 😭
It was re played/sung after our borders were open after Covid. We were closed for a long time.
Yes, i still call Australia home. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ so proud to be an aussie.
This song not only makes me feel proud to be Australian but an Indigenous Australian. Aboriginal Australian is accepted but most prefer Original Australian. I get goosebumps and tear up every time. I love the unity and diversity that this video represents. The video features Australian Girls Choir with National Boys Choir and the Gondwana Choir, Kylie Minogue, Hugh Jackman, Ash Barty, Adam Goodes, Troye Sivan, Ellie Cole, Brontë Campbell, Bangarra Dancers. Iconic symbols of Australia such as Uluru, the Hills Hoist clothesline with kids playing footy around it, Bondi beach, WA’s Hutt Lagoon, Tasmania’s Cape Raoul cliffs, SA’s Salt lakes, the Whitsundays, Longreach, Brisbane. Thank you 🖤💛❤️🇦🇺
Um, Cate Blanchett is nearly famous. Just needs a few more movies under her belt. And I think I saw Naomi Watts there also
I’m Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, you can say Aboriginal or Indigenous 😊. Indigenous is usually a collective term for both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (two, quite distinct but also both, Indigenous cultures). Or we also go by First Nations, much like Native Americans, when we talk to international people. So when I talk to people from overseas I usually say I’m Indigenous Australian or First Nations Australian, when I talk to people from Australia I will say I am Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander. It’s usually easiest for people to understand this way. The person you did see in the beginning of the video was an Aboriginal (or Indigenous) elder 😊
🖤💛❤️🫶🏽
the significance of the primary school kids singing in the hall with longreach in the background is that was were qantas first flew from.
My mom was an east Texas girl, I grew up in an old southern family but I've lived in Australia now for 27/28 years. Had a whole US life before I got here and as much as I've always loved the US, I am grateful to AUS because some of my greatest gifts ever I've received here, my husband, daughter, reliable health, security, calm. During Covid, after stupid political tricks, the entire country was shut down for what seemed like 2-3 years, QANTAS, the national airline, was almost destroyed, so they were getting everyone ready to travel again (anywhere we want to go is at least a 10-14 hour flight) so a new ad was needed, one that reflected current Australia. It's such a great song (the country has the ugliest National anthem!) written by a man who had to go to NYC for his career so he was always homesick and understood loneliness. And the fact that every kind of native, Indigenous people, singing, dancing, walking about in nature, as well as all the other totemic things that non-Aussies can recognise (like kangas and koalas), the cities, the rugby and the amazing mix of people who live here, well, I seen and lived that change.
Come on down to visit and we can compare barbecue.
this is a throwback to an old Qantas ad where they used the national childrens choir to do the song, and it's stuck with generations. Now this version was filled with a lot of legends like Kylie and Hugh Jackman, then new famous crew like Troy Sivan. Was a great tribute to the original. And post covid, where people could start coming home that were stuck overseas..... tugs at the heart strings
Not a dry eye in the house when this plays! As an Aussie, flying back into Australia on a QANTAS plane when this is on... sobbing. SOBBING!! Like a baby. And there is nothing like feeling those wheels hit the runway, knowing you're home. I love that you guys knew so much about Australian life. Come visit!!
Mind you... my dad is from California, and every time I land at LAX... I feel like I am home too!
This is the song of my people and I tear up everytime I hear it, including right now and I’m so happy that it stirred something in you guys too.
Australia represent ❤
Sitting here on Australia Day watching your reaction. Tears me up. Happy Australia Day 2024 everyone
Just the first few bars and I'm gone, my heart ❤🇦🇺🦘
As an Australian this song makes me a blabbering mess. My sister has been living in England for longer than she was born, as she went on a holiday at 18 and met her husband. She came back for a holiday after many years away and during her stay we had a nice meal out at a local Greek restaurant- we organised a cake and “I still call Australia Home” to be played when it came out. The WHOLE restaurant joined in singing - it was so special and there were lots of hugs all around form everyone at the restaurant.
I burst into tears every time because I am so grateful to be Australian.
You would love a song by the Seekers, I am Australian. Yoy had a lovely response to this one, an advertisement for the national carrier Qantas.
Makes me tear up!!! Should be our national anthem.
Peter Allen if you only knew how your song has touched the world especially during covid…thank you sir may you always rest in peace 🇦🇺🦘🐨❤️
Hi, new viewer here. You came up in my algorithm and I loved your video. That's a like and a follow from me. You're both gorgeous 😍
I know it's been said...but just another Aussie here beating the drum about this song and "I am Australian" being so woven into our DNA as Australians. I swear. We've all known these songs our whole lives and they are honest to God tear jerkers. Qantas being Australia's first and most highly rated airline company (lol despite some recent job and money controversies) they have used this song for decades. They have done so with such creativity and artistry that even if you haven't stepped a foot off Australian soil...you will still be blinking back tears and get that warm feeling in your chest. Despite everything, despite whatever divides us, whatever our race, sex/gender, ethnicity, socio-economic status whatever...despite ALL of that...this song is just about embracing our country and the things we each as an individual love about our HOME. I know this song was played for people on the first flights returning into Australia after the Covid closures and I am sure there wouldn't have been a dry eye in the place. So moving. Whoever first started this song and its association with Qantas, whether it was written exclusively for them, I'm not sure...but whoever was in charge of this ad campaign all those decades ago...I hope they were highly rewarded for their genius. It is just an ad campaign that grows with us and is more and more beautiful with each rendition. Plus the children's choir...shiiiiii* well that's enough on it's own to bring a tear to your eye it's so beautiful.
This song always makes me cry 🇦🇺💖
This was an old Qantas airline advert.
So proud to call Australia home! For me, there’s no better place on earth. Lucky Every day living in this beautiful country ❤
The tears are flowing! So powerful and nostalgic a born Aussie 🇦🇺
