I'm a Texan who has lived in Victoria, Australia for 11+ years. I miss family, friends, and some food, but I'd never move back to the US. The healthcare is better here, There's more help if something happens. My meds here won't leave me bankrupt like over there. My son gets his therapies paid for (He's autistic) and he gets support workers and other things. It's a beautiful country. If you haven't seen The Man From Snowy River, watch it. I've been to where they filmed the movie. Such a good movie too.

A HUGE tip for travelling. Find an interest that is universal. Church, tennis, golf, art, whatever. Use it to find people with a similar interest where you are going and you immediately have instant friends, the best guides to the local area and surprisingly often somewhere nice to stay. I will make contact with Men's Sheds in Britain for when we are there later this year. My wife contacts churches where we will be on Sundays. There's always a warm welcome.

here is 10 small tips to any US citizen that wants to come to Australia.
    1. leave your attitude along with your guns at the departure lounge.
    2. don't panic! it will be there waiting for you when you get back, we don't want it.
    3. you cannot buy, nor carry a gun over here as easily as you can in the US, this is not the wild west as it is in the USA.
    4. enjoy the sites the food and the different cultures.
    5. Australia has a culture, they have song, dance and food and we are proud of it.
    6. The US has, Levi's jeans, McDonalds, mass shootings, guns and bombs and you are proud of it?
    7. take lots of photo's, buy the occasional souvenir.
    8. when you get back to the US "the home of the brave and the free," pick up your gun and your attitude, you will notice it is still there in tact as you left it.
    9. Show your friends the photo's and tell them you had a nice time.
    10. Oh and don't forget to tell your friends you experienced real freedom for the first time in your life not having to carry a gun!

I was very lucky to be born in Perth, Australia.
For so many reasons we are safer than most of the planet when it comes to illness, conflict etc.
Our health care system and educational system are entirely accessible and you can get what you need health wise and schooling wise with it being practically free. And people are laid back and friendly. We have good working hours with all sorts of allowances like sick pay, holidays, parental leave and long service leave…all paid. Things here, people can generally get a fair go…people are paid a living wage, there are supports from the government and private agencies to make sure people can get basic needs covered.
Homelessness is an issue, but nothing like I have seen anywhere else in the world.
Welfare payments have only been less of a good fit with rental costs having skyrocketed, but prior to this change what the government would pay the unemployed or students or the disabled or the aged was enough to cover rent and basic needs. Now unfortunately it wouldn’t be possible without house sharing as the cheapest rental would be at least $450 AUD a week when welfare payments only start at approximately $1000 a fortnight.
The environment, the attitude of people (we aren’t particularly classist and people don’t care about going to the shops in track suit pants and slippers - no one gives a crap.
And there’s something about Aussie humour and the way people joke with each other…it’s delightful.

‘’You’ll get here and never wanna leave” Same thing happened to my husband! He moved here to Australia for a 2 wk holiday from New Zealand and never left. A lot of Kiwis do this and move to Aus! He’s been here since 2004 😂 We met at the end of 2004 and that sealed the deal! I showed him around and he loved the wildlife as he’s a hunter and loves nature. Just recently took my in laws to K’gari (Fraser Island), my childhood camping and adventure spot! And they were beyond thrilled and want to do it again, and now that their grandkids are a little older (teens) they want to buy a house here so they can spend half of summer-winter here. If any of you are thinking of heading this way, you are closer to the places like Bali, and the rest of the pacific islands as well as New Zealand. As James Smith said here in video, this is just a typical sunny day here in Oz 🇦🇺

Visiting here and living here are very different things. If you come over get a visa for the longest time possible cos it will take you a long time to see more than a couple of places. But in my experience the best thing to do is ignore the videos, positive and negative, because they'll both be exaggerated. Research where you want to go and what you want to do based on what your likes and interests are then throw it all up in the air and as he said JUST DO IT. Just dive in. If you love it great. Australias a pretty easy introduction for a 1st time traveller. If you dont cope with strange new places and experiences well you can just go home again but at least you wont die wondering. And it wont be waste of your time or money either way.

its great living here, unfortunately, here's the bad news, finding some where to live close to the beach as stated is near impossible unless you are a millionaire, there are houses cheap to buy, if you want to live the other side of the "great divide, the other side of the black stump, coming for visit not a problem, try to stay, thats when reality kicks in.

Slap the sunscreen on put a hat on and let the kids run free at the beach, (swim between the flags) and play grounds while you drink the best coffee in the world 🌍 Adelaide and Perth are the friendliest people in Australia.

🤣🤣🤣 this video did not age well I have family in Australia who tell me everything is so damn expensive including seeing a gp, you can pay $80 to see a gp, that's not free lol the wait list for a non life thretening surgery is 2 years eg knee surgery, here in the states my wife had a surgery the same week our family gp gave us the news. A house for a regular family can cost 1 million dollars and that's not even near the beach that's 45 minutes drive inland away from the beach and it's only 3 bed 1 bath with a courtyard not a large backyard. The rental market is lacking, it can take 6 months to get a rental and that 2 bed 1 bath rental could cost $600 a week!! Want to go shopping in Australia? forget it unless your rich or reasonably well off family tells us they spend $600 or more on the family shop, electricity bills over the summer time in Australia are also horendous even worse than California! And still in 2024 you can't defend yourself even with a pistol if a man or woman tries to harm you or your kids, Australia also comes 2nd in the world now for home invasion, America is about 20th.......If Australia is invaded they will need to call America for help. Say what you will about America but Australia has alot wrong with it. I've lived in both nations aswell as England. would i live in Australia or England permanently hell no! However
I would visit again for a holiday if my wife twisted my arm to go again.
