In this tutorial I’ll show you the process for designing a building to be cut using a cheap laser cutter. In the video I design and cut the iconic ‘Moe’s Tavern’ from the Simpsons using Corel Draw x8 and the GY430 50 Watt laser cutter, I’ll also show you the process of constructing the laser cut parts to create the final result.
Moe’s Tavern is built to be approximately HO scale or 1:87th scale which is a common size for model railroads. The main purpose of demonstrating the use of the laser cutter is to show how flexible its uses are for a multitude of projects, from small scale models to large projects it can do it all.
P.S. Some of you may have seen this video already… if you did manage to see it early you’re one of the lucky few! There was an error with CZcams and the video was unexpectedly published early however if you want early access to future videos you can become a patron. Sorry for any inconvenience or frustration. - Zábava
WHAT IS HAPPENING?
Hey all,
I'm currently working on my next video and also moving house.
While waiting for my next video, I've created a new Instagram account for my fans to post completed dioramas you've created (Conditions apply).
You can check out the latest activity via: instagram.com/bouldercreekrailroad/
See you soon.
Cheers,
Luke
I dont even do scale modeling but your videos are so satisfying and nice to watch. Keep up the work! 💪
Thanks mate, glad you are enjoying the videos
I’m have a spot on my layout for a Moe’s. But I’m going for a more real world version and less cartoon. Nice to see someone else honor the Moe
I just love it too. I hope one day to build the Simpson house as well as the house from Family Guy. It is great fun to "hide" such recognizable pieces on the layout.
A realistic version would look cool 😎 i can imagine an old grungy rundown building
Do u no da moe?
Honestly this is one of my favorite comfy videos to watch. I would totally watch you just build your sets too. No need for the editing, no need for scripts, just record yourself making this stuff. I'd watch that all day long.
Will take this on board. Keep watch of just a recording of myself.🙂
T M I feel the exact same way. I've RE-watched all of Luke's videos over and over and get excited when a new one is downloaded. BLOOPERS, UNEDITED BACKGROUND NO BACKGROUND....IT WOULDN'T MATTER.....ID WATCH IT
This needs to be a series. Building sets from tv and movies!
Oooh! I noticed at 6:08 that those two longer beams on the right-hand side are hanging over the securing tape, and I thought "hey, I bet that makes it easier to unstick the pieces after working on them" so the thought occurred to me that on the smaller more fragile pieces could benefit from a tiny tab made of two layers of paper stuck between any delicate piece and the sticky-side-up tape; with a small tab like that, the first layer would block the adhesive, and the second layer would give you a small lever you can lift the piece. You could even make the tabs as strips going across the underside so you can lift with less torsion.
You're always a source of inspiration, I'm so glad to see you're still making models, please keep up the fantastic work!
I remember watching this guy as a kid 😊 can't believe how much you got better your the reason I started making my models and my models or train models from Thomas and friends I can't I could not buy them at all but now I can and now I make my own for my little brother and they look better them the toy one my customers are better I'll say them the once trackmaster does
Simpsons was my favorite tv show!
I like only one bar, that is MOEs
Thanks Luke, great tutorial and introduction to your new laser cutter. I imagine it will be of great use in projects to come. Congrats!

Hey all, if anyone is interested in buying a kit version of this model let me know by giving this comment a thumbs up. If there’s enough interest I’ll look into producing a limited number of kits to sell (around 20 kits) possibly more depending on if there is any demand. If you'd like to be sent an email once they are available you can fill out this form here on my website: www.bouldercreekrailroad.com/store.html

love your videos, nice work !!
Thanks Lucas, glad you enjoy the videos
Season 5 Episode 1, "Homer's Barbershop Quartet" gives you a great view of the roof. There's a missing detail of the chimney structure on the right hand side of the building. The roof in that episode looks similar to the walls, but your tar-paper roof looks better as a model.
Awesome! Definitely an inspiration for me to keep making my own art videos and doing what I love. Thank you (:
No worries Lauren, I’m glad I’ve been able to provide you with a bit of inspiration 😉
