This is my review of the Herman Miller Embody office chair after owning for 1 month. I highly recommend checking out this chair and think it is worth the money if you're looking for a ergonomic chair for your back and neck. I recommend looking for a used chair if you can get a good condition one for cheap.

What brought you here? Is the Herman Miller Embody a chair that you’re considering purchasing?
I saw one on craigslist for $300 and am considering buying it.
SuzukiGil10 300??? Go for it NOW
@@SuzukiGil10 Did you get it? Tell us about it
It's cool looking chair but the armchair has very, very little adjustment options for a chair at this price range. The Armrest will just get in the way of the table like with any other 50 $ office chair.
a friend called "Kamikat" just purchased one, and i'm looking for one of these... like, i'm from brazil, things are dreadfully expensive here... should i go aeron or embody?
Oh my, a PC with wheels atop a desk. You do live a daring life, sir!
It's got wheel locks! That said I've had a couple close calls though XD
MejakobaTV to wheel it around?! Why else?! If it was for ventilation he would just use feet like a normal case. Think before you ask
Jay Roy doesn’t look like he is wheeling it around very much on that desk
@@OutdoorsBlues Wheel it around on a desk? you're a smart one aren't you...
You take it off the desk and put it on the ground and wheel it around, if you decide to move it, smart one, therefore you have the option.
I am a 58 year old japanese businessman, we are using 12 of those in the meeting room in one of my companies. They are good chairs, but I would highly advise NOT to buy anything from a private person. There has been known counterfits that gets sold off as "used", the other thing is you really can't advice anyone to spend 1500 if you have spend 1/3 of the money.
In my eyes it is a good investment, but the asking price of 1500 is too much. You are also paying their name on it, the production costs are a fraction of it.
If money is no big concern it is justified but if someone would need to save to buy it I would say there are cheaper and better alternatives.
If you wanna get rid of them lmk
Hi Mr Nishikawa. Much respect. Can I get a job at one of your companies? Kind regards.
I've never sat in one but who are they kidding with that price...
Are there any cheaper alternatives you would recommend?

Solid review, thank you for taking the time to show us this chair.
Your video is super helpful, thank you for taking the time to do such a great review.
Thanks so much Stan, I was searching for some feedbacks about this chair but You litterally did the perfect one. Thanks to you I know everything about it even the cheat code of the 2nd hand.
Then Bravo Stan.
Your adjustment tips is on point.... making the back "float like a hammock" is key... thanks!
Good overview and fair assessment of this chair. Thank you!
I just got one and I am super happy, looks great, feel great and it is for sure worth the money :)
You have an awesome looking desk and a great chair. Looks like your setup is pretty amazing and great to work in. Cheers

Good review I really appreciated it.
I am here watching this video sitting on a wooden dinner table chair.
Time for an upgrade!
Stay strong
Yeah... You're not the only one. However I'm definitely planning for an upgrade.

I respect your choice in peripherals, I have the same keyboard and headphones. It makes me think I can trust your opinion on quality more, even though I've never seen one of your videos before now, looking for reviews on this chair.
I rarely see All black Embodys; it is a very sleek and minimal color design! Great video!
My embody chair just arrived. Tweaked a little bit and I can already feel the big difference between this and my two-year-old cheaper office chair. The lumbar support is great.
yo this is a solid review. thx brah just bought one
Nice to see how this would work for people. Someone listed it for sale for $1,200, and I had to see what the heck this chair was about. Thanks for your review.
thanks for sharing! helped me make my decision
Just bought one! Will be here soon!
Excellent review
This was an incredibly informative video! I picked up one at an estate sale for $150 and I wanted to learn all of the features. Thank you
Did you wake up afterwards?
Jay ?
You must’ve been dreaming to get one of these at that price.
Jay I literally use it everyday. Maybe I should make a CZcams video of my chair. 👍
Mine just arrived today. Thanks for the good review!
@@k.m.7351 love at first sit.
@@WilliamAlanPhoto still loving it!? I have a titan secret labs for about 5 months and I can’t take it anymore. My back starts killing me after a few hours and doesn’t stop hurting until I get up and stop sitting on the chair ughhh
@@krazymofo17 How is that related to the topic of this video? It sounds like you need to address an issue with your body/exercise. Check in with a chiropractor to find out what is happening with your back. It is easy for our complex back muscles to get out of whack.
@@WilliamAlanPhoto I’m just curious if you’re dumb or just read my comment too fast? I asked if you still love the chair? How is that not relevant? And I’m complaining about my chair thus why I’m looking to upgrade?
@@WilliamAlanPhoto looking back, this comment is stupid. Lol I would like to understand how my comment is not related
I got a used one from some tech company that went under. It's the best chair ever. Previously had a Humanscale Freedom. I can't sit on that chair for more than 5 minutes now. The Embody is just the right amount of support and flexibility. Super expensive, but cheaper than back surgery.
@CʜᴀᴍᴘᴀɢɴᴇPᴀᴘɪ(ᴅʀɪᴢᴢʏ) how is it? Did you get it?
@Le Justicier du Net I'd prefer a headrest. Atlas is making a 3rd party one coming out this month.
Great video! I'm looking at this for my uses at the computer. I do a lot of video editing and some gaming and I like to sit cross legged and recline quite a bit, as I have a very relaxed posture. Would you recommend the embody for that?
For years I wanted a Herman Miller, I tested both the Embody and the Aeron in a store. In the end I ended choosing the Aeron as being ultra breathable and a superior arm rest support, also it exist and aftermarket headrest (also quite expensive)
@@dsdf_fdp1858 I don't feel much on the frame. I'm on size C and the way I seated, I don't find anything that would hurt my legs
How tall are you? Which Aeron size did you get?
@@mrmazlan how tall are you?
@@GSP2100 I'm 1.73 mts don't know how much that is in feet. I went with B size and it's pretty comfortable, at that time they didn't have C size in the showroom. Recently I sat con a C and felt good, but I didn't use it that much to really determine if it best, my legs and neck felt slightly better but it was wider than I liked for my arms. The only way to know if that you make a comparison, preferably in several visits to have a fresh view and take your time to determine.
Hope that helps
Dude how much for a 2 bedroom in that building on your desk?

It's honestly the best chair I ever owned. Having to spec out options is a bit miserly but the comfort is amazing. I also like the steelcase gesture with headrest & thr freedom chair. But the matrix support on this is best.
Hey for that money they better let it be option built like a rolls Royce and have naked girls on it for the price maybe sex toy like rubber on it 😏
@@jonathanoxlade4252 it's an office chair so that wouldn't work. If they ever do a version for brothels then I'll return to this comment with a link 😁
@@lejusticierdunet7262 yes. So during the lockdown I started doing more work from home and got myself the steelcase gesture with a headrest. I've come to prefer it on days when I'll be doing less typing and more reading /thinking. HM are quite negative on headrests but I think when push comes to shove, I'd rather have one
@@lejusticierdunet7262 the matrix back support on the Embody is great but if you use a headrest then don't let Herman Miller convince you you don't need one 😉. Sometimes it's nice to have one and the Gesture gives you that option. They are both great chairs.
For content creator and editor, this is very worth it :), i'm gonna buy it in 3 or 6 month from now. Cause I'm sitdown 12 hours a day and my back please to me to buy a new chair hahaha
this is a great review, i play a lot of video games and using my computer during the week. if i could get one second hand as i have only a year of work under me, that would be amazing.
HM just announced a partnership with Logitech (like a month ago?) They have a gaming Embody in the works, or already came out with one. Forget.
All rounded review! :P
Awesome review! I am very intrigued by your desk, what is that?
I love it 🥰 with my bad back i am always in pain on my chair I think this would be allot better for me thanks for your information 👍
should you change your mind levus.co
@@LevusWorkstation I just checked out your website and that design looks amazing. Hi, thank you for your review. I have the same height as you and I was wondering in advance, and by looking at your arms resting on the armrests in the video, are the armrests too far in front, like does it prevent you from getting close to your desk? I usually have my armrests level at the exact height of my desk for a consistent aim in fps games. This would me be deciding factor in getting the chair, if I can get close to my desk or not. Thank you.
Excellent review. One think I would note is that you can not transfer the warranty on a used herman miller chair, so any repairs or replacement parts will cost you money. I have heard that Herman Miller is very responsive and will replace or fix any part that break without question, so that is the only reason why I might consider buying it new..from what i have read, these chairs really do last a long time. I am currently trying to decide between the Aeron, the Embody or the Xchair x3. I have sat in all of them and they are all pretty close in comfort. I would give the Embody a slight edge for cofmort if I was just planing on sitting upright. I think if I was planning on leaning back, I would want a headrest. You can get a third party headrest for the aeron, but there is no way to add a headrest to the embody that I have been able to find. Though I did not like the Aeron as much, it was because I initially sat in an aeron B size chair, and when i went to a herman miller showroom and sat in the C, it swayed me back toward the aeron. I also like the Aerons ability to tilt forward as I am an illustrator that sometimes has to work on a desktop and being able to lean forward is a nice feature that very few ergonomic chairs have...
Thats a cool desk, where did you get it?
Going to need that Herman Miller chair after you move that gigantic tower!
Nice review
My man's got a whole ass server on his desk, hell yeah.
Blake Bohner a gaming setup? Literally the basic things a gamer has? Lmao, a PC, a mouse, a keyboard, a monitor, a headset and speakers? Smh
Qelta I think he’s referring to the huge ass E-ATX case. That size desktop is not normal. ATX is. So stop acting so condescending.
@@qelta4035 fucking idiot
Caselabs don't play around... well didn't play around RIP to the GOAT gaming case company our industry has ever known.
How do you find the fabric? Would you have preferred the Balance?
Like the intro beat!
Where is your desk from? Looks awesome!
You are right dude, I bought a gaming chair less than a year ago for $500 new and it is already breaking apart, the wheel is breaking the arms rests are breaking everything, it is just falling apart..
Can you do a desk/setup tour? Or a pic? How is the table holding up with all the weight on it? Is there any bowing?
Because of covid, I found a superb group buy in my area (Toronto) that allows me to purchase this chair for 1075 cad dollar, that's like 800 usd. And then I got reimbursed 500 dollars by the place I work at because they expect us to work at least partially at home for the rest of this and next year. 500 dollars for a fully decked out brand new embody chair is well worth the money.
Good video 👍🏼 What’s that rug thing on your floor?
the arm rest not being able to pivot or move backwards was going to be a problem for me ! Thanks for the review
Just as you mentioned, it is very important for people to try it out first. I did and felt like I was sitting on a wooden plank, I went for the aeron instead, but you can't deny the embody is sexy as hell.
Aeron is rather hard and you can't move, cross your legs etc. Not great for smaller people. Goes to show how personal chairs are.
@@matsudakodo that is true. The aeron won't let you slack, it will make you hate it if you slouch easily. It is also a good thing if you're looking to improve posture.
I had the opposite feeling, though I did try the Logitech gaming version which has a softer seat. The aeron back felt great though.
im here to justify myself if i need to buy a herman miller. i usually sits 12-15 hours a day for work. i cant seem to find a downside to this for this chair just the price. i guess ill purchase it.
How does this chair compare to an aeron in terms of comfort? I've yet to try either in person since I haven't been able to find a store that had both in stock.
@SuprUsr Stan...........how does the chair work with the Ikea Skogsta? I am looking at getting that exact table for my setup but was wondering how the chair works with the table and does the middle brace across the table get in the way? Also how far back is that middle brace, about halfway or 19"?
I switched from the titan 2020 to the HM embody, and mainly because the seat was too hard for me and because i slid into an unhealthy sitting position in the chair. Today I've moved house and my back is dead, and that's exactly when the embody arrived. And after a short adjustment, the chair is just awesome, how well my back is accommodated, and my back is really done from the move. The only thing that bothers me is that when you put the armrest all the way out, it takes on a sloping angle and my arm slides sideways when I lean on it. Otherwise 10/10 And yes, it´s expensive, but absolutely worth it as i dont have money to buy cheap chairs anymore. even if you are a broke streamer, save for this chair instead for led blink blink. Your back will thank you.
Quick question ..
Does it get hot sitting in this chair doing the summer or just when the weather is warmer?
I'm very close to pulling the tricker on this chair, but I'm wondering if the gaming version will be better in the long run, since it's using copper infused foam or whatever it is.
Right now I'm using a cheap mesh chair, but at least that runs cool doing the summer 😅
Thanks for the video. For anyone who are experienced in using the Embody - My back fit adjustment knob is stuck in one place and is not turning. Is there any fix that anybody can recommend? (It stopped working within 5 minutes of receiving the chair after a few adjustmetns)
I spot a Caselabs case :) Absolutely adore mine (ST10-X).
Check out the new "Gaming" variant of the Embody, it would suit your studio lol. Apparently has thicker / cooling foam in the seat pad, and a recolour. (Expected a tad more but eh).
I got an embody like new for 400... very satisfied.
This seems to be the first chair I have seen that has a FULL spine like shape, 3:51 is a good point.
Late to the show. I also have a butchers block desk. I used a router with a 1/2” roundover bit on the corner for much smoother edges. Highly recommend.
Just orderd one at a dealership, saved hella money too
I just ordered the Logitech version from Herman Miller today. Woot.
@livud Jr We'll see if I am lucky... because of the lockdown I can't go into stores to sit on chairs to see which ones are comfortable. I'm hoping it doesn't get here and cause me any back pain like some reviewers are saying.
Me too but i have to wait Till sep 30th.
SuperWotman Mine says it’s shipping September 22
@@JW-sl9ml I ended up switching it for the Aeron gaming chair, which is new, but is basically just an Aeron with some of the features added like Posture SL and fully adjustable arms. I couldn't sit right in the Embody (I'm 6'2" 245lbs and a powerlifter so I'm kinda heavy). The Aeron size C at "High" height range is perfect. (Standard is 2" lower)
@@brotendo was the embody just too short?

Quick question.. what desk are you using? Is that Karlby from IKEA for the top? Looking for nice PC desk..
Thats a beast computer. Geezes.
Looks awesome and follows the contours of your back. Only odd issue is there's no head or neck support.
How is this for leaning back with your feet propped up in front of a TV for long gaming?
i bought this chair and its super amazing
Is the Rhythm fabric good and have a good breathability? Because I need to make a choice and I’m quite confused with all the fabric
I was actually thinking about putting my computer on my desk like yours. May I ask how long your desk is?

I want to upgrade my 2015 dxracer chair to something that will last me as long. I got many years worth of my chair, however build quality has dropped off since then (heavy use of plastic). despite being as much as a computer, i think the investment is worth it.
I've had this chair since 2015 and it's the main reason I was able to handle long design sessions. Currently looking for a wide keyboard/mouse tray attachment so I can spin and look directly at each of my 3 screens. Any tips on who sells these?
@Le Justicier du Net I actually like that I can tilt my head back and stretch. TBH I've never been a fan of headrests, so I'm going to be biased. I like to lean way back like I'm resting my back on a yoga ball.
Hi may i know where you bought tht floor mat protector?
What desk are you using? thanks
where did you get the base for the desk,
For anyone looking at purchasing, contact any office interior sales stores that are Herman Miller dealers, I bought mine for $1300 Canadian dollars, taxes in with rhythm fabric and upgraded casters.Great chair that will last a long time with the 12 year warranty.
Can you share what store you bought it through?
Hi, where did you buy the desk ?
Those casters cost the same as my chair lol
Is the herman miller celle a good alternative?
decent review 👍, I just bought one last week , my last one was Aeron , these two are far different , embody got more upper back support and less lumbar support.
How much you got? Dang
Which one do you like more? I am currently using the steel case leap v2 and its really nice but the embody also caught my attention.
Which one do you like better?
What desk is that? I really like it!

it's better for your neck and back, but what about the other two?
Is it possible to completely remove the armrests?
