    Superb video again, with my hometown! I discovered your channel few weeks ago and I fully agree with others that it is becoming part of Saturday morning routine!:) Special thanks for beside LIDO charts and PFD/ND view, you also inserting MCDU and RMP views at relevant points. I would gladly see even more MCDU/ACP/RMP/overhead panel inserts from preflight phase if possible. Thanks again Stefan, excellent content!

    Ist das standardmäßig so, dass beim Take Off ein Pilot steuert und der andere den Thrust kontrolliert? Man würde meinen, dass ein Pilot beides macht, so wie bei einer Landung. Wie immer tolles Video. Danke.

    • @ApproachandDepartureVideos

      Vielen Dank fürs Anschauen und das gute Feedback! Ein Startabbruch wird immer vom Kapitän durchgeführt. Deshalb hat der Kapitän die Hand spätestens am Gashebel wenn der Schub für den Start gesetzt ist. Was davor passiert, hängt von den Vorgaben der jeweiligen Fluggesellschaft ab. Hier ist es so, dass am Boden der Kapitän oder die Kapitänin immer rollt und auch den Gashebel nach vorne schiebt. Auch wenn der Copilot oder die Copilotin den Flug durchführt.

    question: what climb rate do you usually use?

    • @ApproachandDepartureVideos
      @ApproachandDepartureVideos  Před rokem +2

      Thanks for watching and the good feedback! During the climb we do not select a certain climbrate. We use climb power and fly the speed in accordance to the required speed schedule, which is dictated by the airplane configuration (flaps ..) and ATC speed constraints. The resulting climbrate varies by airplane type, engine thrust, weather and weight. With a light airplane we see a few thousand feet a minute. With a heavy airplane it will be less. When approaching the cleared altitude, we reduce the climbrate to avoid TCAS resolution advisories in close proximity to other airplanes.

    How to know at what altitude one should expect to see the runway with the given METAR visibility? For ex :- if metar visibility is 4000m. Is there any rule of thumb?

    • @ApproachandDepartureVideos
      @ApproachandDepartureVideos  Před rokem +1

      On a standard 3 degree glideslope, we descent 300 feet per nautical mile. If we are 4000 meters from the runway, this would be 2.16 nautical miles. 2.16 x 300 feet is 648 feet. With 4000 meters visibility, we would see the runway at approx. 650 feet above the runway elevation. The approach lights would be earlier in sight because a standard approach lighting system begins 900 meters infront of the threshold.

    Ich hätte da mal eine technische Frage:
    Wie kommt es, dass V1 und Vr in so vielen Fällen direkt aufeinander folgen und wäre es bei einem sehr leichten Flugzeug auf einer sehr langen Runway möglich, dass man rotiert, noch lange bevor V1 erreicht ist?
    Danke für die Antwort.

    • @rocksen9283
      @rocksen9283 Před rokem

      Dry runway V speeds are very close togheter for a light aircraft such as the A320. But if the runway is wet, V1 will be way lower in that case. And no, if you rotate before V1 you either screwed up the trim setting or the center of gravity of the aircraft is wrong

    • @ApproachandDepartureVideos
      @ApproachandDepartureVideos  Před rokem +1

      Die Vr ist die Rotations- Geschwindigkeit, also die Geschwindigkeit, zu der wir rotieren und das Flugzeug sicher fliegt. Die V1 ist die Geschwindigkeit, zu der wir entscheiden müssen, ob wir den Start abbrechen oder weiter fortsetzen. Wenn V1 und Vr direkt beieinander liegen, folgt auf die Entscheidung direkt die Rotation. Wenn das Flugzeug in der Luft ist, kann man den Start natürlich nicht mehr abbrechen.
      Eine Rotation vor der Vr ist keine gute Idee, da das Flugzeug noch zu langsam ist, um sicher zu fliegen. Dabei könnten viele unschöne Dinge, wie zum Beispiel ein Tailstrike, passieren. Deshalb würde kein Pilot auf die Idee kommen, vor der Vr zu rotieren.

      I am the pilot monitoring and have the hand at or near the sidestick for several reasons: It is the relaxed position for my arm/hand, the push to talk button for the radio is located at the sidestick and I am talking to ATC as pilot monitoring and I have to be able to take over the controls from the pilot flying at any time, specially if he is flying manually.
