Great video. Demon Ship in particular is really cool: we could do with a lot more short games, small games and single player games in the minis space. Not every good game has to be an ever-growing pile of miniatures, expansions and rules updates - sometimes one and done is plenty of fun.
One and done, story of my life lol
Shatterpoint and MCP are the only two games I'm focusing on at all anymore. The models are so sick, the gameplay is fantastic, and the support from AMG is top notch.
MCP is so damn fun, with tons of room for personal choices and the game is extremely well balanced for the most part. I love that there are so few truly stinker models and even then, the delta between the worst and best models is really small. Just play your favs and have fun.
Plus, who doesn't love the opportunity to have Hulk chuck a car at someone?

Happy to hear from someone's who's not a Star Wars board game fanatic that they enjoyed Shatterpoint. Most of my circles involve a TON of X-wing and Legion talk, so naturally there's a lot of bias. I appreciate you throwing your feedback into the ring, and this makes me feel a lot more confident in my plan to jump into Shatterpoint. So looking forward to painting the models, and hope to see some Shatterpoint content from you down the road!

Miniaturewise I could recommend "Mythic Battles: Ragnarök" from Monolith (planned to arrive in Q4). Its not a pure (gridless) table top but a board game skirmisher with premade maps. Its a successor of the "Mythic Battles: Pantheon" which is based on the Greek mythologiy and moves on to the vikings (the next (and final) iteration is supposed to be Egyptian). Very nice minis (and only the heros are "mini", monsters and gods and get quite big ;-).
My group is elbow deep in Frosthaven right, but as a guy old enough to grow up with the Aliens franchise and Doom games as a cornerstone of my youth, Demon ship looks so cool and unique I think it’s a must have.

Demon Ship is a GREAT find! I obviously missed out on a lot from Adepticon, I did very few demos and saw almost none of these games. Will make a point to do more next year. Either way, always fun to see people excited. Personally Shatterpoint is a big maybe, but I do agree that it has a lot of great design cues. Right now I am finally getting into Malifaux, but I am much more open these days to wacky side games that I might just get into by myself as a psuedo board game. lol
Demon Ship looks like a hell of a lot of fun. The simpliciyt and small scale suggests so many possibilities. Co-op sounds fun, and the idea of maybe even making a sort of "mod" for it where your character is super vulnerable and there's just ONE monster, with no idea what room it might pop up in... Alien : isolation vibes.

I have been a fan of Black Site Studios for a couple of years now. They have produced some amazing and zany models for some of their games. The Soviet Leaders and US President clone minis stand out as just awesome and clean, well sculpted, resin cast models. They also did a Rutger Hauer from Blade Runner proxy sculpt that is just a joy as well!
I am pretty stoked to see Apex Legends coming as a boardgame KS. This is good content dude. The kind of stuff I like to see more of!

The games look fun, I really like the look of the aesthetics in that book for Yafsiga, it looks kinda trippy in an ethereal sorta way. Also, it's off topic but I was watching "Garth Marenghi's Dark Place" the other day and figured it may not be that well known across the pond, so if you've never watched it give it a look it's f%cking bat-shizzle in the best possible way.

when i initially saw the apex game coming i was worried but it actually looks so sick and the models are so nice and look like they would be a blast tio paint also looks like the terrain is nice af

I am good with my current game line up. I got godtear, infinity and conquest/first blood.
I get a decent ammount of MCP in as well, even though i own none of it. Lol. Good thing about being a commission painter your clients just let you play with their minis.
Interesting point about warcry scenario cards. That's actually one of the things I find great about warcry, the randomness. It's great fun!
I think the idea is fine. The execution, however, is often lacking and that's because it's hard to do, IMO. It's an idea setup for "failure"

I'm gonna throw out there Rivenstone and Warmachine as recommendations as well.
Privateer Press has adopted that same style for troop movement (move one model, place the others within 2") starting with their Warcaster: Neo-Mechanika game and continuing on in the new edition of Warmachine, MKIV. It's muuuch better and makes things a lot faster. Bonus, it enhances the power of AoE making those models scarier to infantry and on top of that makes abilities that let infantry spread out after their activation even more valuable (in Warmachine the ability is called "Reposition").
I gotta give it a try!
My only hangup right now with Shatterpoint is games seem to be taking 3 hours and that seems to be fairly common with everyone who's been trying to play since the rules drop.

So glad you covered these games! Demonship is exciting but very... Boutique. It's $100 to get everything you need to play right now, and that's just preorder pricing. I hope they offer the book with just the terrain at some point since pretty much everyone will have the necessary minis already to play.
Boutique is the word for sure - We're a super small company at Blacksite. That being said though - the Rulebook does come with dimensions, and a set of scannable / print and play components so that if you don't want to buy MDF, that is an option. TONS of custom Demon Ship builds out there.
Being in Australia shipping is $55 with the terrain, but I'd love to order but have my own minis for characters. Would you not consider a terrain/rulebook package?

I’m definitely excited about shatterpoint especially since I love crisis protocol so much it’s the only game I really have been abled to play or enjoy playing anymore that first game did sound fun since I’ve been interested in getting into don’t look back with my buddys if I can get them together so we can play games

Actually Scott back in the day...Starfleet Battles started out as a Micro Game everything you needed was sold in a Ziplock bag and the playing area was about the same size as Demonship.
Shatterpoint looks amazing, I like the character-focus of the game and allows me an excuse to paint Star Wars minis while not having to paint a whole army.
Demonship is one that I really want to try but the cost is almost double with shipping and taxes to the UK. Hopefully we will get a UK distributor?

Scott, releasing different sized minis for all the Star Wars games isn't a missed opportunity. It's by design. They know Star Wars fans will buy every version of every character over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.

I recently started Star Wars Legion, so with limited time i dont need a new game at the moment. But shatterpoint looks awesome and you can tell it has a lot of similarities with legion.
I think the game Bushido: Risen Sun by GCT Studios would really turn your crank. It pulls all of the best elements of a game like Guild Ball and introduces new tactical decisions and scoring mechanics to push tension, interaction and order-of-activation significance to new heights. Highly recommend.

"This is just Malifaux encounter generation" has been my reaction to a lot of games I've looked into lately. Yafsiga, Crisis Protocal, and even GW's change to encounter design with 9th along with the previous ITC design. Shows its a solid system at least. Now if only people would just play Malifaux.
Wow all of those sound interesting. The struggle bar made its first appearance (in a simpler form) in Star Wars Rebellion a miniature heavy board game (150 minis). If you like how the different factions in ASOIAF work, try Rebellion. There are only 2 sides that are COMPLETELY different. Rebellion is usually rated as the #1 or #2 best two player game ever made.

Steel Rift by DeathRayDesigns and Ash Barker is my favorite newish game.. Fast fun mech combat with a light ruleset (this is not classic battletech).. Check it out

Yeah, my group enjoyed it. Of all the "D&D in a box" type games, I enjoyed Oathsworn the most but Descent was a pretty close 2nd.
Can't wait for Shatterpoint! Legion is already my favourite game and near perfect game for my needs. Have no more interest and selling all my AoS (2 huge armies) and Infinity (3 armies). But Shatterpoint looks like it will be shorter than Legion and have a whole different set of strategic choices - which makes it the perfect skirmish fit with Legion...
Love that demon ship aesthetic, but the shatterpoint rules look GREAT. Why did they have to use a different scale though?!

All the games sound really cool. My only issue(s). Not sure if anyone else is dealing with these. 1) Demon Ship sounds most unique and interesting. $100 buy in is definitely something to give pause to. It may be worth it though. Especially since it can be played solo. 2) Most important by far. There are LOTS of interesting and awesome games out there. Question is, is anyone else you know playing them (or willing to invest in them)? More pointedly, do you have anyone else to play with...period? The issues noted in #2 are my biggest stumbling blocks.

Oathsworn: into the deepwood is at 13:15. It's a pretty good game, great minis and a lot of the scenarios are very creative.

I have to wonder if you got a look at any of Corvus Belli's upcoming offerings, like REM Racers, or Warcrow. And if so, what did you think of them? I imagine you likely didn't care for the app for Warcrow if you saw it. As someone who always ran the D&D games and never got to play though, I'm glad to have a default GM, myself.

I'm excited for Warcry getting an honest to goodness starter set this year. That should really lower the barrier of entry and get people to... Actually play it. Same thing with the new releases for Warhammer Underworlds. Now that the nemesis format exists, a new starter set and the succeeding releases should be more friendly to new players.

I think that you´re forgiving Descent 2
I'm not in love with the moving camera in the talking head shots. It kind of loses the sense of a conversation between the presenter and the viewer. It would probably work a lot better in a two-person interview, or a more documentarian-style video, but I'd recommend just using the one shot, or only using the camera you're actively looking at. It's fantastic for the B-Roll though!

Personally I'm only really waiting for cyberpunk red combat zone. I do wish there were way more minis, but I am sure there will be more down the road. But just the cyberpunk universe excites me the most

@@crackilator I'm an idiot, I thought you meant Oathmark. Out of all the games I've played that are D&D in a box, Oathsworn is my favorite. They made the combat compelling right from the getgo. No laborious period where you have to grind for gear and level up and run at bosses with really boring mechanics. I love how the cooldowns on abilities work by rotating around your player card. If you're looking for that kind of experience, I can recommend it!
