I ordered my 2023 hilux sr5 before seeing this video , and i still dont regret it, it may be a bit older and lacks features but all that flashy stuff will wear out soon and all that matters if it lasts , thats why people keep buying the hiluxs its simple and it works

I drive on country roads and off-road on a weekly basis and, despite the Hilux not being as refined as the new Ranger, my money is still on the Hilux because of its reliability and dependability. I have owned both and my experience is that the Hilux is more reliable over time.

I have a 2021 Ranger and a 2022 Hilux all we ever do when driving the Hilux is talk about how much better the ranger is, and that is with the old model Ranger. The Toyota is drinking 11.7 ltrs on the long term average compared to the ranger at 10.1 so the fuel efficiency difference is massive.
Hilux has to be the most over rated vehicle on the road.

In our family, we have both. However, the Hilux does handle the dirt better but the Ford is better on the long open roads for comfort. Both vehicles average out the same fuel in a moth so that doesn't come into question. Parts do, Toyota are more expensive than the Ford, however, less places to find Ford parts and many more place stock all the Toyota parts...

@@davidherholdt9579 the hilux handles the dirt better? You must be the only one who thinks so... Every plastic part on a hilux will rattle loose and even the bed side pannels will tear apart. I think money for value the ford has better tech and may be more refined but remember you pay for reliability on the Hilux which the Ford will never have. The BI turbo is also a but warring as the older Ford Rangers 2.2 6 speeds had huge problems with a failing turbo. The older Ford developed rattles and suffered more problems over years. Then there is factor of trade in value which the Toyota will guarantee your money back once you trade it in. Ford looses value much faster and I personally think the quality hasn`t improved although the they invested a lot in the tech of the vehicle.

I'm about to buy my first car in over 7 years! Looking at hilux, wildtrak, navara & Triton, it's become clear they are all pretty good but with the most popular one in Vietnam being the Ford, it's probably the best choice for what I need... reliable family travels without much need to go over 80km/h unless using the highways which I prefer to avoid anyway. Am I missing anything?

Watch out for transmission issues and oil pump issues in the ranger. Mitsubishi is an absolute tank. Had an l200 for 150 000kms half of them were towing a trailer on bad roads too. Had a Mitsubishi colt too, v6 club cab and did 100 000kms on it on bad roads with heavy payloads too. Sold them when we stopped that job line. The triton was the 3.2 DI-D 4x4 double cab top spec. What a machine, comfortable, reliable, stable at up to 160km/h cruising. Never had a hiccup on any of them. All we ever changed was oil once every 10 000kms. Now running a 2.4 4x2 double cab gd6 Hilux w/a manual transmission. Got 120 000kms on it and 50 000 kms have been to the mines and on bad Pot holed roads and Off-road into the pits. It's a machine, we still have it and have never had an issue on it and man has it been thrashed. Only ever changed oil at the dealership. So let me tell you this, the Japanese cars (Specifically Mitsubishi, Toyota, Isuzu, In order of reliability respectively) are the best you can buy. My buddy's uncle has a 3.2 ranger with the automatic that he got new and it's been sitting with a dead gearbox for almost a year now at Ford. Transmission is an absolute wreck and oil filter, pump and head gasket are bugging too. We only rock Japanese cars man and they prove them test of time. My dad's friend has an Isuzu that's got 600 000 kms, original engine and gearbox. It lived it's whole life on the farm too. Scrap Ford off your book if you know what's good for you. Consider only Mitsubishi, Toyota and Isuzu. You won't regret it!

Ranger if you're looking for a family truck since it really is nicer and techy you can't take it away from the new-gen ranger. If you're looking for one to batter around and will give you more bang for buck with the reliability, resale value, availability of parts then go for the hilux. The new -gen ranger is for city and light driving imo since I'm driving the Wildtrak 4x2.
Look-wise interior and exterior the Ranger looks WAAAY cooler than the Hilux hands down. We have yet to see how it does over the years so nobody can really say anything about it in the long run really. We need both cars with 200k then compare for fairness in this one.

Ranger is a car made for urban roads. Hilux is a truck that has more payload and pulling power. It’s made for what picks are intended work. Particulary if it’s has the 4 cylinder diesel. It’s a basic truck with beastly pulling power for its class. No comfort all truck! Like they use to make them. I’d take one in a heartbeat you can actually get a Hilux brand new in Mexico for 23,000-26,000 dollars what did you pay for your ranger that was built and designed off the Taurus chassis, when they designed the truck err car. The Hulu’s is number one in its class in payload, towing and it’s not close. And it’s a torquey little truck. You won’t be disappointed with the trip over the border Particulary with add features. Seriously what other small truck has a add on turret mount as a potential option for the farmer who wants to get rid of Varmints and unwanted suitors for thier daughters. 🤪😏 thier options are only limited by your imagination 😆🤣
