COMPONENTS - I only got the basic version, not the deluxe, but it's very nice. The board is a set of large puzzle pieces, player boards are chunky, and the art is lovely.

Thanks for the short review! its length was short enough and all needed to be said (specially the solo mode) was said. Thank you!

Solid review, we are dead on aligned with this one. I liked it quite a bit...but also lots of mixed aspects too.

Love the DFTBA shirt! My wife just gifted me an autographed copy of the Anthropocene Reviewed to go along with my autographed Turtles all the way down :)

Nice! My wife and I went to a book signing and reading of Turtles with John, which was amazing of course. And she's listened to the audiobook version of Anthropocene multiple times :)

One of my biggest issues was with the steeds and in particular their interaction with the upgrades. It seems to me like, as long as noone has the steed which lets you have unlimited upgrades at the start, taking the extra steed upgrade and selecting that one is just the blatantly best choice. It's not even close. Maybe with a full 4 players there will be more competition for the upgrades so it won't feel so strong, but at 2 it's kind of broken.

i pledged the KS for this game, and I expect to receive it soon. Had I seen this review before I pledged, I probably would not have gone for it. I'm still hoping to like it a lot (but now I'm wondering). In any case, thanks for a very informative quick review. - toby

Let's see my copy is on the way... my friends want to play it (split the cost) so we will give a try the art and the fact that is not very havy style game can be a pro for us

I also think it’s stronger multiplayer than solo, so that should help as well. Hope you enjoy it!

    Doesn’t sound overly appealing.

Definition of bloat. Streamlined smarts given up for originality and pretty bits which isn't always good. This seems like an okay game that would hit my table exactly twice.

I partially agree. There are a few elements that feel like they add extra mechanics without increasing the decision space or strategy variety.

Agreed I skipped the KS for that reason, I never saw it as a coherent package.
