1. Public universities are oftentimes cheaper than private universities
2. The range can be from approx. $20,000 to 50,000 p.a. which over 4 years can mean $80,000 to $200,000.
3. This range could translate from Rs. 50 lakhs to Rs. 1.25 crores
4. For cost of living, a good rule of thumb to use at this stage is approx. USD 20,000 to USD 30,000 p.a. And in general the universities with the lower tuition fee will most often have the lower cost of living as well.
5. So on a composite basis, at the lower end of the spectrum you could pay $80,000 for tuition + $80,000 for living expenses = $160,000 = Rs. 1 crore. And at the upper end of the spectrum this could mean $200,000 for tuition and $120,000 for living = $320,000 = Rs. 2 crores
6. Taking the highest tuition fee of $200,000 and dividing it by 40 the price per course of $5000 = Rs. 3.15 lakhs.
Each course has usually 45 - 48 contact hours, assuming 50, it means $100 per hour. So we’re forsaking Rs. 6,300 for every hour of class that we miss

A very useful video for Indian students and their parents .A must watch for those who are considering US education at undergraduate level as the explanation is lucid and clear with numbers on screen. While cost range is given from cheapest to most expensive universities, one aspect is worth mentioning. I would add a minimum 25% to the total overall costs due to the continuous INR depreciation ( currently 1 USD =INR 71 and rising ) and escalating tuition and living costs over the 4 year period.

Hi Grad school tuition fee varies per subject e.g. Medicine is most expensive, Law and design are next, engineering is slightly lower etc.

After completing 10th in India I don't want my daughter to do commerce, arts, science in India.
But after 10th please suggest me any good financial studies (diploma) of 2 years.
I have done 12th in India + 3 year diploma in India + 2 years work as a trainee + 2 years PG Diploma in UK
And I had friends in UK who directly studied for Masters. So I believe I have wasted my time.

You can send her after 12th, and now you have two years to prepare very well for admissions. Sending her after 10th is an option, but kids are very young at this stage and can benefit from being at home. Besides Indian high schools are quite good. Where we lack is in undergrad education, so you can work with her for two years and send her to the US / Canada / europe for undergraduation
