My favourite Thai salad EVER! Not an exaggeration. he tart and spicy dressing together with the creamy egg yolks make for an incredible combination that's unlike any other salad. You'll also learn how to fry an egg the Thai way, that is with bubbly crispy edges. It's gluten-free and comes together in less than 30 minutes!

“Same, same... a little different” is the best
That's what I was going to say as well; such a typical Thai to Farang (foreigner) phrase!
That was so authentic Thai!!
Same same.
@@RaveenaAtHome they say the same in Nepal
I am an American citizen living in Cambodian with my beautiful Cambodian family. I love to cook. I cook dinner two or three nights a week. I frequently come to your channel for inspiration. The quality of your presentations and recipes are just outstanding! Thank you!
this is SO good with a side of jasmine rice. sometimes I put a small bed of romaine lettuce underneath, just to catch every last drop of the dressing. I'm sure I'm being extra by adding crispy fried shallots to when I eat it, but even without them, this is so special. it seems so simple, and it is... but it's definitely more than the sum of its parts. absolutely perfect for a satisfying meal on a hot summer night.
Pai, this is one of my favourite recipes from your book. I’ve made it multiple times and I found that it also works well with deep fried soft tofu in place of the egg! I also add some thinly sliced lotus root (blanched) to the salad for extra crunch. Thank you for doing the video demo!
oooooohhhh, I'll definitely try some fried soft tofu one of these days, too!
A salad with deep fried food! My kind of salad! 😃
I tried this my very first time in Thailand on the very first day I was there! It's still one of my favorite things I've tried. The flavor is amazing.
I'm drooling and can't wait to make this! Looks so easy to just whip up quickly at home without a special trip to the store. I'm on the lookout for more recipes like this!
I was soooooo yearning for a new episodeeee, been doing a marathon of the recipes lately 🥰🥰🥰🥰
My mom taught me to dress some freshly made rice with fish sauce and lime juice, then fry some eggs in oil and toss them on top of the rice. Super simple meal that I've served to DOZENs of friends who "don't like Asian food" and they always gobble it down. People actually call me up and say, "if I brings you some eggs, will you make that eggs and rice thing again?" I actually get more requests for that than I get for any other Thai food Mom taught me to make.
Omg I am basically eating this for lunch rn lol. Very easy and tasty
First time frying egg: meekly crack an egg into the pan, a lot of "eeek!!" and "aaah!" with oil bubbling, manage to break and mix yolk and white togather.
10 times later: oil bubbling = "yeah, whatever"
Hello from Japan🇯🇵My Thai friend recommended me your channel and now I’m a big fan of you❤️also I love Thai food.
Thank you for your inspiration. I’ll try this recipe😊

Egg-cited bubbles 😂! Love it!
Will try this today and always always love your edits, Pailin. Thank you😍
A salad can't be better than this.
I love egg and I love salad.❤️❤️🌶️🍋
I super shocked that here in Spain we also use this method to fry eggs! I looove the crispy ends
But usually, we prefer a runny yolk
Looks interesting; I am salivating. I’ll try. Everything is eaten with rice of course in Asian dishes.
I have tried it several times and it's super delicious ❤ Thank you Pai ❤
This was so refreshing and satisfying, my new go to!!
This is one of my most favorite dish...super super incredible delicious
Pailin, I just discovered your channel and I am loving it! I've never had eggs cooked this way. I am looking forward to giving this a try soon!
Wow. I'm so impressed with your detailed descriptions and even your detailed written list page on your website! I've been making your recipes for 6-7yrs now and haven't ever seen it so broken down! Good job Mrs. Pailin! From a forever satisfied fan.
Oh yeah. And i love the new kitchen!
It's a salad with a nice texture and color! It looks very delicious!
Looks AMAZING! I will def try it.
OMG! Crispy fried egg, done the traditional home-cooked way, just as Ma did it! But way crispier. I'm downloading this, do some marketing tomorrow, and do this asap. Thank you so much.
You are a very charming, engaging host and I'm learning so much from you. I'm what you might call a 'pandemic cook', learning to cook for myself from chefs like you on YT. Either that, or I starve, or I go bonkers in these lockdowns. So, thanks heaps, Pailin.
Made this. Super easy and out of the world delicious!!! 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤 Thank you, Pai!!!
WOW!! This looks delicious and I bet it tastes as well. Looks easy to make, I got to try this.
Love your slow, nice, gently voice that makes me easier to understand. Salad without meat, chicken is my favorite, Thankyou for your easy recipe to make me happy.
In Portugal we fry the eggs like that, just with loads of olive oil, if we want to flip it we call it "Spanish style", so I assume they also do them crispy and bubbly :)
I'm so going to be eating this for a week straight!
Spanish eggs are traditionally fried in lots of very hot olive oil, "vestidos de torero" (con encaje-with lace).
considering Portugese influence on Thai cuisine (since the time of Ayutthaya), there's definitely some connection there.
@@tsuribachi the Portuguese took a lot from where they travelled as well. It’s not only a one way exchange. 😂
It’s like christoph Columbus discovered America!
As stupid as it sounds they Europeans wrote their history through their lenses.
And it gives some absurdities like that. 😂
Many books were written by Europeans and they wrote what they wanted.
That’s it.
This was so awesome. The dressing is bomb! I played around with the veggies adding lettuce and cucumber.. really awesome
Looks amazing!
Anything made into a yum is divine.
I remember seeing this on a few Menus The last time I was in Thailand. Because there was a lot of Pictures : )
Now I can attempt to make it myself. Thank you.
Looks delicious and love the recipe!
Thank you, Pai. This looks tremendous. We have the cookbook but somehow I overlooked this.
Hello friend, how are you ? It's nice meeting you..
Pai's expression in cooking the eggs one at a time. Priceless. :))

หิวเลย เย็นนี้ต้องจัดแล้วค่ะ 😊👍
My new favorite!
So simple and delicious 🤤
My family always make this salad but we also mix fried egg with salted egg for different texture and added saltiness. Its my fav dish to eat with boiled rice and steamed rice :D
☀ You bring a bit of summer into this cold spring ☀
Looks fantastic and healthy!!!
Never heard of this type of egg salad. But it looks fantastic, so I'm going to try it. Thanks.
The power of suggestion. If you had said rice water I would have been ok, but you said Lime juice and my mouth started watering.
It's one of my favourite yum dishes to make when abroad :) ingredients are easy to find.
lots of oil for that crispy egg we agree. the sliver of onion had a bath made my day
Thanks Pai for this wonderful salad can't wait to try it 👩🍳🥰🤗
Great way to do fried eggs. Just tried the recipe (more or less) with basmati rice. Excellent!

YOu made me craving for this at 2 in the morning!!! hahaha thank you for giving this simple dish instructions. I have tasted and made this several times already and the bestest salad ever!!!
Aww that looks so yummy! Thank you for this inspiring salad recipe, I just love Thai food! Could you make a video on how to make the fermented cabbage you can buy at the markets everywhere in northern Thailand? It's the stuff they serve with kao soy curry, not spicy, but soo very tasty! I can't find any info on this anywhere and I absolutely love it!
So glad I found your channel 🙏💞
I made this two days in the row since you posted the video. I happened to have backyard chicken eggs from neighbors and frying the eggs in duck fat really just make it heavenly. 🤤
Hello friend, how are you ? It's nice meeting you..
Looks amazing, can't wait to cook this on a hot day.
Love your show and your food ☺️
What a great recepy. Thank you!
Hello friend, how are you ? It's nice meeting you..
I'm in love! I always prefer crispy fried egg and omelette. No mushy eggs in my house. Had this salad tonight. Added more coriander because I love love love it. Didn't have tomato, no problem. I added more bird eye chillies because I love it😂
I really like that technique to get a crispy fried egg with a soft creamy yolk. I will try this style of egg on a burger with bacon - - a bacon, egg, burger.
Great job, keep sharing lovely recipe.
Hello friend, how are you ? It's nice meeting you..

The chili piece flying into your eye is such a painful experience. Now I have glasses and they work well as chili shields
I was once working with Thai peppers for a meal for friends and then put in contact lenses! Everyone kept commenting about how red my eyes were.
I also learned that I have to be careful when touching my wife intimately after using Thai peppers! (I now use gloves!)
Getting older is not ALL bad!
I'd probably put salted egg there. Yum!
why i seeing this at 2am ? I am so hurry and miss Thailand
Looks yummy😊🤤
YUM! Thank you!
Yummy! 😋 Thank you for sharing! 👍 Happy Mother's Day! 🌺💖😘
This looks very tasty and super crispy 😍😍😋😋👌👌
Hello friend, how are you ? It's nice meeting you..
THE CLASSIC ONE LOL
i love fire cracker surprise, the green chunk that lures you into a false sense of security, you'll think it's coriander stem or spring onion, but it is green chill!..
My dad was a sailor. Back in the late fifties, the whole crew was housed at a hotel somewhere in Asia, waiting for the ship to arrive. To swap the crews. Dinner time. And this one german jack was not familiar with asian food.
And was mistaking green chillies for beans. What a surprise he had! My dad countiuously told us that story.
@@peterdoe2617 welp, i has the first memory of eating thai red chilli because i mistook it for some kind of berry too. I was playing with the neighbor kids in the woods near our village, and i picked bright red fruit from the bush..... it's not the nicest memory....
You still got your mojo
This looks delicious !
Hello friend, how are you ? It's nice meeting you..
Someone send Pai some safety glasses!
Hi, i from Malaysia. 🇲🇾
Love your food and channel.
สวัสดีครับผมมัดสามมาเลเซีย
Wow 👍👍👍, Awesome 🙏🙏🙏
Funny that the salad dressing is kinda like a Prik Nam Pla without garlic. When I do a prik nam pla I'm always using the remainder for salad. I'm then adding a very mildly Umami rice oil or a coconut flavored oil. I tried Lao Gan Ma oil as well but it's risky because it's too much savory, umami. Can be done though. Learned a lot from this channel..Cooking is fun.
My mom has the same ครกหิน in her kitchen !!!
Yummy
Absolutely beautiful 😍 Greetings from Scotland 😊 Have a wonderful day everyone 🌻 Stay safe, stay blessed everyone. Take care of your health
good....
How can i get your book? Im from Manila but definitely thai at heart. Travelled to thailand every 3 months before pandemic... i miss thailand

Though I'm from the UK i was born and brought up in Hong Kong. I just cant eat "western" style fried eggs. They have to be crispy. This looks perfect! I'm going to do this with my Grandkids this weekend. Subscribing was an easy decision 🙂
Are those the leftover green chilies from the jungle curry? XD And OMG your humming the HTK theme song at the end is adorable! Hahahah!
That's right, filmed them on the same day :)
Great salad! I was wondering, do you wash the herbs you use for cooking?
