    Comprehensive video. I couldn't find the DE leak in my system, even after replacing the filters. I found a crack in the filter manifold after watching this video. I didn't think to look closely at the manifold since it seems so thick. Thank you!

    This was pretty helpful for me (a consumer). Thanks!

    Hi! Thank you for this very helpful video. I’m thinking to change my DE filter out for a Cartridge one. In the interim is it safe to swim in the pool with some DE leaking in on the bottom?

      Yes, just messy but safe to swim.

    why no mention of the multiport valve gasket?

    • @SPL
      @SPL  Před rokem +4

      I probably could have mentioned that. In most cases when the Spider Gasket fails water will be leaking out of it at the same time through the waste line.

    Do you have any videos on cleaning up DE that has leaked after you fix any issues with your filter? I am having a hard time getting rid of all of the DE settled on the bottom and am wondering if its just that hard to capture with the vacuum or if I have a very small leak that is causing it to slowly re-accumulate.

      Watch the returns when the pool first turns on. If it is coming out slightly cloudy maybe the DE leak is still slightly active.

      I agree. THe DE is in my pool and vacuuming and agitating the DE pwoder to circulate is not working. The DE is too fine to pick up with a leaf skimmer. How do I get this DE out of the pool, the challenge is driving me crazy?

    I cleaned my filter and added DE.. but i opened my filter again for adjustments and it still had abunch of DE at the bottom, do i open the cap and remove it?

      It should rise to cover the grids eventually when you run the pool for a day or so.

    Hello i really need help. I have changed out the manifold. Changed out the o ring on the stand pipe. And inspected the stand pipe. Re-checked the grids. Took apart the multiport and checked the spider gasket. And I'm still getting DE back into my pool. I also installed a new relief valve. I really dont know what else to do. Please help.

      The grids are only 3 years old. And no visible holes anywhere

      That is about everything. On rare occassions the glue on the stem pipe may have worn out. Remove the grids and see if you can pull the stand pipe out with your hand. If so you will need to reglue it.

      @SPL ok thank you very much. If for some reason that's not it, do I need a whole new filter system? And I've notice even now that I changed out the relief valve I'm still getting air in the lines. I can hear and see bubbles coming out the jets. I don't tou if that has anything g to do with what's happening but I'm desperate.

      Update. Please let me know whatca think. I haven't messed with the system all week. Today I went to take part again and check the pipe. When I took the dome off the manifold wasn't on the pipe. It had popped off. Any thoughts on why and if this is part of my problem?

      I never could find a problem with mine after a very thorough inspection, but the unit was really old so I decided I had enough of DE and got a sand filter with glass media, no more DE issues forever.

      Perhaps. However, there is absolutely Nothing wrong with being thorough, especially for newcomers to the business like myself, who found this video extremely informative!
