The NBN is all about giving Australians more... more home internet, more fibre to the node connections & most importantly, more wifi speed! We'll just have to check out your house on our NBN coverage map first, then we'll book in an installation for... late 2036... or whenever Optus or Telstra can subcontract it out. Cheers!

yeah not sure how guys know about it, but yes i have been doin a bitta sub-contracting work for optus these past couple days...
I bloody knew it was you mate
good onya mate 🤘🍺
I thank you for restoring my Optus nbn just in time to watch this video appreciate it mate
you must of cut the Optus cable today
the timing is impeccable lmaoo
You had to time it with the biggest Telco outage in Australian history 😂
I was gonna say that 😂😂
He was going to do it earlier but there was an outage!
Exactly my thought 😂
Precisely
Ikr
The timing is ironically impeccable
brooo XD
I’m with Amaysim, and I had to take the Melbourne train to Mordialloc. Both broke because Optus is a fucktard.
NBN is so geared for complaints, one of their fresh workers actually did a good job so I thought I might commend them, went on the NBN website... you can only complain. Literally no way to say good job. But good luck getting a good job done by them though...
I cleared a corner of trees (as my house is surrounded by bushland) to have direct line of sight to the nearby NBN tower for the best possible connection since hearing everyone on the NBN has had huge speed issues. Where do they install the antenna while I'm at work? the exact opposite corner of the damn house, facing directly at thick tree cover simply because that corner of the house is the lowest/easiest point of the roof for the installer to slap it on and say his job is done.
If they didn't want their complaints line on fire 24/7 they could have actual trained technicians
@@Zebra.LionfishLast place i lived it took me about 2 years (4 different installers with one coming twice) due to them targeting a tower through thick bushland cos that tower was 100m closer than the one with clear line of sight, they even tried to pawn me off onto sky muster satellite, i had to get an independent signal test to force them to finally green light my install.
yeah you see, they wanted you to report the new guy for raising the bar for all of the dudes who dont give a fuck
To fix my nbn hfc connection I had to annoy the living shit out of them, so I had intermittent dropouts beyond their own definition of acceptable. Took them coming around 5 times before they knocked on the door, blamed the isp router (which they had sent 3 of) and my own routers (of which I had 2). By the 7th time that same guy was called out he replaced things in the pit that "were not a problem" and I have had no issues since.
Moral of the story, be a huge pain in the ass and do not fall for customer service by attrition bullshit they will try to pull. They say they did not see x amount of dropouts today so they cannot send a tech out? Ask about friday because you had a program that kept logs. I am sure that this is not every experience but think of it like this, if I did not know what I was doing I like many people would be stuck with a dogshit connection.
@@Zebra.Lionfish lowest bidder for the contractor
Given the Optus outage today, the timing of this video couldn’t have been better (or funnier) 👍😆
Yup so fun I have Optus and you know it always has the best connection
@@DanoshTech… I’m with Telstra & luckily, mine was fine but with the Telcos these days, it won’t be too long before a monumental fuck-up like today’s will hit Telstra or even DodgyFone (aka: Vodafone).
yeah @@PEsKe18784 its back up now
@@PEsKe18784 I use a Telstra modem but Optus mobile and the Optus network for me is online
we've had NBN satellite outages the last two days. Which also cuts our phones cos Telstra never got here.. 20 kms from a town is their 'deep remote'.
Should do every Optus worker next considering their national cluster today 😂
Gladys was removed from parliament for corruption and went to work in Optus then 1 year later the largest data breach in the country happened with Optus and now the outage.
Not only today remember they got hacked last year.
@@The.Drunk-Koala
Calling what happened last year a hack is greatly exaggerating the security of their system. There was no security to prevent it.
An abysmal showing.
And the video just doesn't load lmao
that would be considered racist if you know what i mean
Garn may not be pregnant but he never fails to deliver.

With optus deciding to cease functioning earlier, you couldn't have timed this better...
1. Impecible timing with the Optus outage today
2. Get out of that irrigation box Murph. That's for the gardeners to come in, screw with the sprinklers, make sure there's no water on those lawns through all of summer, and call it a day
I love it how Garn gets access to all the props. Nbn van, work uniforms etc. 😂
He could have used a real telco pit instead of the irrigation valve cover, but might be legal issues
That complaint letter straight into the paper shredder had me ballin 😂
Same😂😂😂
This is more a doco then a comedy skit
do aussies really shorten the word documentary too?!
@stealthmonkey91 yeh mate
yep@@MionMikan
Not Indian enough for it to be a doco
@@MionMikan
Yes. Yes we do. If it can be shortened, we probably shorten it.
As an NBN worker, this is 100% accurate
I could see Garn being responsible for Australia's biggest telcom outage also i think that nbn unit in the shower actually was connected lol
It only connects once the water is turned on and the circuit is fully-ground. It's pretty standard stuff mate, thought you did this job before??
I'm an Engineer that worked on the OG rollout as designed by Rudd and Labor and if we had of kept going we would have had world class speeds and service at probably about 25% of the end price. What the LNP did to the NBN is actually criminal and i think about it alot. I'm not a rudd or labor fanboy and i did vote for the LNP at the time but nothing could have prepared us who were on the original rollout for the torpedo and clear sabotage that was heading for us.
My opinion is Australia's internet is about 10 years behind the rest of the world. Because of this.
Current sub contractor and I hear yah... finally I'm installing fttp and feels like I'm doing the correct thing lol. Should've been this way from the start
@MrMrSymmetry it should have been fttp but you know what our fttn is still better than nothing, much better than the adsl we had previously which was awfully slow
The project was massively over budget like every project any Labor government ever runs. Unless you're into multiple concurrent QHD streams the current NBN is fit for purpose.
One of my school teachers said he had a mate that worked at Telecom before it was Telstra and sold off. He said this guy took fibre optic cable to a board of the fat cats in charge in the 90's, pitched it as the future of the world and got laughed at apparently
Could not have come at a better time
This is 100% spot on 😂 I once lived in a duplex. My neighbour was approved for nbn but my side was "not in the service area". Funny thing is, when they came to install my neighbour's nbn they had to run the cables through my side 😂😂😂
Go figure!! 🤦♀️
LOL! Nope. If I'm not getting it, nobody else is. I'd cut that cable every time.
@@spankyjeffro5320 Nah neighbour was a good bloke lol
THAT'S NOT EVEN LEGAL
it's called a "non compliant installation"
They are not allowed to enter the premises of another person to run a service to someone else
NOW, I TAKE IT YOU ALLOWED THE INSTALLATION THOUGH, RIGHT ?
it still doesn't make it ok
However.... if you don't complain they don't remove it
@@martinkuliza You DO know that if you go to all the bother to complain about it or try to sue them in court, the court is just going to rule against you, right?
No matter what the law apparently says!
Because the judge is just going to be that freaking irritated that you wasted time with such a stupid complaint that they'll rule against you out of spite! Lol :p
In a world of opinion, Garn is one special channel that distributes facts.
As a Telstra technician, I can confirm that NBN have no idea what they're doing
Who the hell is doing the network? It's like they hire interns who have very little experience with technology.
Literally just bought my own house 🏡
And the nbn guy drilled a hole through my wall in the wrong spot 1 month later finally got someone to actually come and install the nbn correctly , tried to go through the complaint line to get the hole fixed and they even admitted there’s nothing that will happen about it , it is what it is 😂
It is what Garn says it is.
dang lmao. Is it really a wireless connection from the "curb" to the house box/modem? Thats wack
@@M.TTT. LOL no but that would be fucking hilarious. Its a copper wire from the curb to the box
@@_wayward_494 ah yeah, still funny then
@@_wayward_494 it doesnt matter what wire is in there it could be one of the international wires they lay at the bottom of the ocean, youll still only get capped at third world internet speeds because of the plans they have setup 15mbps for 65 a month is a scam, and if you want anything over 100 you're paying over 145 a month and i doubt youll get that even. americas plans are 70 aud for over 100mbps and thats their worst plan.
As someone who waited 9 months to have an NBN connection fixed, this is a fucking documentary. Good job!
Optus down for half a day and this video comes out! Damn GARN, you’re too good mate. Like a prophet
I love that, no matter what job he has, Murph always manages to wear his cargo pants/military boots combo
He was quick to get this one out after what happened 😂
I think Garn eas behind the outage! Timing is too coincidental 😅

The complaint print sheet falling straight into the shredder really got me

I love it when a customer threatens to complain to the ombudsman lol
that printer straight into the shredder really got me
2:23 had me crying haha
Ok, seems fitting an internet based garn video was released today
Either you wrote, set up and filmed this all in one day or you have genius timing
He must work for Optus 😂
It was perfect calling support 5 times over a week having to pay for technicians saying "it all good" only for the last one to realise they had my house disconnected entirely
You know it's a good day when Garn uploads.
Unless your Internet is offline and you can't watch it!
@@greatestytcommentatorCall Garn out, he’ll fix it.
@@Tylerjschmidt For a Hundy!
This might just be your highest quality production yet. The scathing but very accurate (mostly) parody of the NBN was the cherry on top! Great work as always guys.
I never understood the planning and funding for the NBN company and roll-out being all public only for this government made monopoly on an essential service. To then be sold off as one monopoly and the roll-out being subcontractored by dozens of private companies. No wonder the whole thing is fucked. It's such mish mash from top to bottom. It's all over the shop.
Thank Turnbull and the LNP. I had a position high up in the NBN rollout when it first began.
Yeah a massive cash grab, i worked for a bloke, but he was to far down the totem pole and we got screwed.
But i'm confident thats old mates office in the video.
@@kremepye3613 thank us as a collective for voting them in because who the fuck knows what reason now, 10 years down the fucking drain and got what to show for it.
@bigpoppa1234 yeah i wasn't immune to propoganda much before internet use wasn't a weekly single login
I used to work at optus on NBN connections. It’s frightening how accurate this is. Lol
The timing on this is perfect, well played 😂
holy shit its the prophet himself
Yooooo
Most unbelievable part of the video is that the NBN has only just now reached 1 million complaints
Every Optus worker
Fibre to the node.. then, connection to house undoing it all is pretty funny. So accurate, The ombudsman the finance industry fears, but telcos just laugh and say they have their own version which is 'customer wrong, try again, and pay again'. This one was surprising accurate
This is ironic with the optus outage today
Perfect timing today with the Optus outage haha
First it was the final episode of Attack on Titan, now a Garn video. The past 7 days has been great!
Timed at the optus outage makes it even more fucken funny
This channel is my only source of knowledge about Australia and I'm confident I don't need anything else.
Does this channel convince you that we actually all exist?
If so... that's all you need to know! Lol ;)
so this is why Optus fell asleep..
i'm sure it was a very technical process and not just plugging back in the cable that the intern tripped over after dedicating a few hours to telling everyone that it's a complex issue
Damn... Murph should totally go and get a job there and report on that scam! That is GOLD! :p
0:44 i love that guy.. his genuine reaction fuckin kills me. haha
they really went above and beyond with this video, getting to be in charge of optus is no small feat!
As a network engineer from another country, this is pretty spot on. And I am not sorry
We don't raise the bar we keep it low so everyone looks great- NBN 😉
Putting network cables in with the control valve of irrigation. Now I know why optus went off-line
Perfect timing with the optus outage lmao
The timing of this is impeccable 🤣
Murph mate your cinematography is getting fantastic let alone your humour. Legit real quality stuff.
The one millionth complaint part 😂
Any day when Garn uploads is a good day
I will always believe Garn had something to do with the Optus incident
Defo the perfect timing right after that Optus outage we had earlier today.
Perfect timing after today lol
As someone who used to work in a Telstra store and have to try and explain this shit, this is fucking hilarious.

And yet again, you boys absolutely nail it - well done lads!!

"Fiber-to-the-Curb"

Alright mr fancy pants, no need to brag that you got the premium nbn service. My cup and string nbn connection is still loading.
@@lazytitan6848 nah mate its not mine, hacked into the maccas wifi because for some reason the minimum wage teens deserve the best internet the country has to offer
It’s the whole everyone has it but your house that gets me ! How true 😂
So accurate with Optus today 😅
Oh this is brilliant. I'm a white colar telco worker, (be kind to me), your research is absolutely on point. Everything in this video is true! Even your props look genuine, although I did notice your pit was an irrigation pit with a solenoid water valve in it ;) GOLD!
Another bloody ripper! Great Vid Mate!
These Garn docos are spot on!
Every good stuff as always
As someone who is in fiber the part with fiber up to the curb had me rollin. My company will give you a great signal right until we get to the building, and then we just hook it directly into twisted pair, coax, or cat4 and call it “hybrid”
I legit got a job installing by taking a leak in the carpark and said I was here for an interview but I couldn’t get in and went in early and was busting
Not long after we had our NBN installed, a suit from the government came by in the morning to ask a few questions about the installation... It turns out the company quoted the government for tearing up our whole driveway (10ish metres of concrete) to install it.. And we were like.. O.o. It turns out just this morning so far (It was 11AM) he'd saved the government close to 100k lol. The whole thing was a scam
As a person who works for Telstra's faults department, everything that was covered in this video is exactly what happens when dealing with NBN issues, this video is so damn good, fantastic work on recreating the (real) instances that happen with good ol' NBN
Love the complaints handling station. The automatic printer to shredder system.
This shit is epic we had a card in our mailbox saying FTTP is coming to your area soon. That was a year ago I guess soon means something different in the NBN Co world 🤣
This video could not have been timed any better with the nationwide outage today 😂
"Murph Law" (Murphy''s Law, anything that can go wrong will go wrong) what a fucken great throwaway gag XD
