@@JKSawShop I’m really starting to like sthil less and less. The 025 had a plate that sealed to that rubber and the gasket to the carb witch seemed a little better then directly to that rubber.
What would be the best adjustable carb that bolts into this one if I want to try practicing some porting and opening the muffler a little bit? Surely the fixed setting won't work for that?

Hipa, send me one and I'll submit a review. A buddy gave me his stihl ms170. He barely used it but managed to mess up his carburetor according to a technician he took it too.
I installed the same carb you have and I couldn't get mine to start at all. I replaced the spark plug, carb, air cleaner, fuel filter and fuel line. It doesn't even try to start. What else can I try?
You are entitled to your opinion on them, I haven’t had any problems with their carbs though. The MS 170 is designed to be thrown away and not repaired.
Any good small engine repair technician should be able to work on any carburetor. If not, find another shop. Only exception is if it's still under warranty, in the case, best to stick with Stihl parts.

Is there no gasket behind the carb only the rubber .??? Hipa has been great so far. .!!!
Seals directly to the intake boot, the 2 carbs I have gotten have been awesome

This one work without any issue. 170/180 I think had carb issues from stock.

I’d looked at crank seals
Any adjustment needed after the carb swap or good to go after install?
Just have to drill a hole for the adjusters, and swap the plate on the metering diaphragm from the original one.
Hey, I want to ask if an adjustable carb for MS 210, MS 230, MS 250 will fit MS180?
It should, you may have to do a small adjustment on the throttle linkage side.

They don’t make a 170 anymore I think it is now a 171. They are around $200 USD
They are still available new here, maybe old stock? The newest one is MS172 I think

I don't like Hipa carburetor.I will always use stihl original carburetor.If the stihl dealer saws anytime this carburetor they won't able to fix it

HIPa gave me the carb to use, and give them feedback on it.
I have an aftermarket similar to HiPa, I needed an adjustable carb after doing a muffler mod. It's a nice improvement.
@@grattonland It's hard to do any mods without being able to adjust the carb. 017,018, and I think 021 carb will go into a 170.
