Using glass is stupid. Standing on business for real. Nobody needs to be taking stupidly unecessary risks. The sugarglass is plenty good enough. Imagine if WWE had wrestlers using glass for some of their matches, and they put that instead of the shit they did use for Kurt Angle vs Shane McMahon... There'd have been a damn funeral if the glass fell in the wrong spot, and that's why you shouldn't use it. The Darby spot, was about the only example I can think if in which it was made fairly safe to do it, and even then he botched the landing and it coulda went wrong.
The ratings are far from in the toilet, they pissed off mostly WWE fans who never watch aew anyway, sure some aew fans might of been turned off by it but it’s not gonna be enough to hurt the ratings. Go back to just watching WWE and pretending to know about aew please and thanks

Depends on how you view it as a speed run. A speedrun of WCW since it's inception, abosulutely, if we're counting when Nitro started, in late 95 and the FPoD was the first week of 2000, and Dynamite started late 2019, so early 2024 leaves Tony about on the same pace.

WCW was the number 1 wrestling company for a period of time at least. I doubt AEW will ever be able to claim that especially with Tony Klown in charge. So no AEW is not comparable to WCW.

@@vcom741 Personally, I felt like DDP, Scott Steiner, Booker T, Sting, some of Goldberg, some of Nash, Vampiro, Mike Awesome, Chuck Palumbo, and Jeff Jarrett as well as the many cruiserweight were all still giving decent matches. I’ll admit the segments were lacking but a lot of that is because injuries and constant reboots. As well as some fans making a big deal out of the things that weren’t even that bad (Russo or Arquette winning the title…) Jeff Jarret’s character work was on fire from 99-01 imo and probably my favorite part about that whole era. nWo 2000 would’ve been nice to see continue but again, Bret got injured. Listen I know these were the bad years, but if 99-01 was considered a train wreck, at least there was SOME good and it was a fun train wreck. AEW is just a slow boring swerve into a ditch that keeps me either yawning at best or cringing at worst lol

If Vince McMahon was in Tony’s shoes, he’d have put a stop to things before they spiralled out of control. Punk may not be free of guilt but Tony shoulders most of the blame. He’s supposed to be a boss. Your comment of course lays it all out but Aew revealing the footage only corroborated what Punk said. Aside from trying to make Punk look bad, I don’t know what the young bucks end goal is. And I don’t know why they’re EVPs. I left a comment under the Ariel Helwani interview video where I stated: firing punk wasn’t even Tony’s biggest mistake, his biggest mistake is one he’s still making to this day and it’s not knowing how to be a boss and run a business. Don’t get me wrong, I can’t run a business to save my life but Tony makes me look and you and probably everyone else look like proper businessmen.
The thing is, he did insinuate that he threw the first punch because in the interview with Ariel he said this: "And it's just like what Chael said, you can't let them get close". If you know the story then you know it means that he made the first move. I don't think that's a bad thing by the way, just making an observation.
I know the story - major difference is that Wanderlei was the physical aggressor in that situation. Here, Punk is the aggressor AND the person that throws the first punch. Even after Punk shoved Perry the first time, Perry was relaxed and not looking for a physical altercation. Utter bullshit on Punks side tbh.

Honestly I’m no longer sure AEW is a wrestling company and I don’t think their megamark fans want it to be. They’re all acting like this is the worst, most violent thing that could ever happen, but I thought this is where the best wrestlers wrestle. And when one guy is running around pretending like he’s a big bad pro wrestler when he’s not, the upper management decides to let a wrestler deal with it, wrestler things happen. I’m not that mad and I don’t think most rational people care either. Either AEW is a wrestling company or theyre an office building, they need to decide. If they want to be a wrestling company, they can’t pretend this is a big deal. When WWE has a great week, you’d think the other wrestling companies could jump on that, having people in promos saying something like “this is a great time to be a pro wrestling fan!” But no, AEW decide that they will just try and dump on that positivity by doing stuff totally unrelated to their current product. I think that’s why this backfired so badly. A week of wrestling positivity has just come to a crashing halt.

Word of advice for the rare chance that you meet an actual athlete, don't talk shit to them if you're not ready to get punched. You are literally challenging the man to make it physical. In the aftermath it was suggested Punk was the one suggesting they settle it physically. If it's the opposite, that completely reverses how I was seeing the situation. Which was initially that Punk was in the wrong. I'm not saying he did the right thing. There have been some horrendous takes everywhere. It's really straight forward, They shouldn't have shown it, but staying quiet on TK's part has been the wrong move. Simply put, Brooks should not have put hands on a colleague, he shouldn't have threatened or lunged at his boss... try and do that it in your own job and see how quickly you get fired or hauled away by the police. Everything else is just tribalism noise. Support good wrestling, support good creative.
I’m not a fan of Punk in the slightest, but Steve and Larson brought up a good point when talking about this the other day. They said Phil said it was a rental car and it makes wrestlers and the company look bad when you damage a car and return it even if you have insurance on it. Punk was wrong for fighting for sure, but Perry needed to listen to Tony S. and others who’ve been in the business longer. A lot can go wrong doing those types of spots too. I remember when Brock hit a fan with a car door or Goldberg breaking that limo window. Goldberg cut an artery if I remember right. Neither were right in this.

Depends on how you view it as a speed run. A speedrun of WCW since it's inception, abosulutely, if we're counting when Nitro started, in late 95 and the FPoD was the first week of 2000, and Dynamite started late 2019, so early 2024 leaves Tony about on the same pace.

@@vcom741 Personally, I felt like DDP, Scott Steiner, Booker T, Sting, some of Goldberg, some of Nash, Vampiro, Mike Awesome, Chuck Palumbo, and Jeff Jarrett as well as the many cruiserweight were all still giving decent matches.
I’ll admit the segments were lacking but a lot of that is because injuries and constant reboots. As well as some fans making a big deal out of the things that weren’t even that bad (Russo or Arquette winning the title…) Jeff Jarret’s character work was on fire from 99-01 imo and probably my favorite part about that whole era. nWo 2000 would’ve been nice to see continue but again, Bret got injured.
Listen I know these were the bad years, but if 99-01 was considered a train wreck, at least there was SOME good and it was a fun train wreck. AEW is just a slow boring swerve into a ditch that keeps me either yawning at best or cringing at worst lol

If Vince McMahon was in Tony’s shoes, he’d have put a stop to things before they spiralled out of control. Punk may not be free of guilt but Tony shoulders most of the blame. I left a comment under the Ariel Helwani interview video where I stated: firing punk wasn’t even Tony’s biggest mistake, his biggest mistake is one he’s still making to this day and it’s not knowing how to be a boss and run a business. Don’t get me wrong, I can’t run a business to save my life but Tony makes me look and you and probably everyone else look like proper businessmen.
The thing is, he did insinuate that he threw the first punch because in the interview with Ariel he said this: "And it's just like what Chael said, you can't let them get close". If you know the story then you know it means that he made the first move.

They’re all acting like this is the worst, most violent thing that could ever happen, but I thought this is where the best wrestlers wrestle. And when one guy is running around pretending like he’s a big bad pro wrestler when he’s not, the upper management decides to let a wrestler deal with it, wrestler things happen. I’m not that mad and I don’t think most rational people care either.
Either AEW is a wrestling company or theyre an office building, they need to decide. If they want to be a wrestling company, they can’t pretend this is a big deal. I'm disappointed in so many wrestling fans defending Punk's behavior. This is the adult world where you can't assault your co worker and get away with it. This isn't high school where it's not about who's right or wrong but who looks tougher. Punk was wrong for fighting for sure, but Perry needed to listen to Tony S. and others who’ve been in the business longer. A lot can go wrong doing those types of spots too. I remember when Brock hit a fan with a car door or Goldberg breaking that limo window. Goldberg cut an artery if I remember right. Neither were right in this.

Don’t have to listen to Punk but Schiavone should’ve been respected. I think most people want AEW to succeed. Hell, I’ve only watched the first AEW Battle Royale they ever had. It’s not for me, but I would never want WWE to be some monopoly. AEW needs to hire non wrestlers who can make all of those judgement calls to stop bs fights like this. The toxic few that want AEW to burn aren’t worth entertaining.

He either walks off and ignores him, or he brings this up later and tries to peacefully resolve this issue, a.k.a being the bigger man. Pro wrestling won't survive as a business if everything is " solved " with an actual fight. You see, this is coming from someone who wants to see professional wrestling succeed not only for the fans but for the wrestlers as well. Not what you 2 sound like were you think the best way to handle something is your fist. Don't get me wrong, AEW should have shown it 8 months ago, or not at all; but at the end of the day punk is clearly the type that will only fight when he can throw the first punch at someone who's literally just having a conversation while others are around to make sure he doesn't get his comeuppance... In my time in the Navy if we gotta beef to square up over, we take it somewhere else so all parties are on equal footing.
