- Do you have a engine driven welder or any stick welder and wonder how to hook up a tig torch to it? Well in this video i show how you can do it!!!
In this first episode of Tig Tuesday I show how to hook up a scratch start Tig torch to my Lincoln Ranger 225. you can hook a scratch start Tig torch up to any constant current welding source! so any machine capable of stick welding can be turned into a Tig welder! All you need is a welder capable of stick welding, a scratch start Tig rig, and a bottle of argon and you can Tig weld!!! So after I finish showing you my welding setup I go on to show you a fusion weld of two plates of 1/8 inch mild steel.

Hey I have added some affiliate links to my description go and check them out!
Thank men I have been learn more from this videos than the school program thanks
Congratulations if there is anything you would like me to do a video on to help you learn something you can always post I no the comments and I’ll do my best to either make a video about or explain in a comment
I got the same machine . bought it new . 700 hrs on mine now . thanks for posting this video . I wanna hook up tig off my machine .
That’s awesome should serve you well one thing I would say is the tig arc off of it is strong and I don’t know any way to describe it other than harsh it’s great on thick material but ok at thin.
I hope you all like this new video of mine and this new series I'm starting up! If you like this video and would like to see more videos like it please dont forget to like, comment, subscribe and click the bell icon to be notified of my future videos!!!
Good video man. I just ordered me a torch and that really helped me out on how to rig it up.
Glad I could help you it really has served me well over the past couple years though I never really did much tig welding most of what I ended up doing was stick or off a small mig welder run off the generator side of the machine
Nice video Adam!
Thanks glad you like it!
Yep that's how to do it. Been doing tig off my ranger for a decade. I use 2 percent lanthanum tungsten's and have a copper plate to start the arc on. I use a 17 tourch with valve. Can't use it on aluminum or outside as a breeze will blow the shielding gas away. Grind mill scale away as the melting point of the scale is around 3600 degrees F. I like E 70 s6 filler but if you are looking for the stack of dimes look the s 2 is preferred. Have fun. Make cash.
Yup! Glad you enjoyed the video hope you look forwards to some projects I have coming up in the future
Man it's a very nice video 👍👌
Thank you!
your a hidden gem man here i thought you would need a seperate machine
Thanks and not for steel and I’ve seen some old timers do aluminum on one too but I can’t can’t and I don’t think there are any codes any more that still allow it without hfac. But if there is anything you would like a video don’t on I’m fixing to start back up! Getting the rig back together in my next couple videos

U can maybe be a little go pro n record the jobs youll be doing. Only guy i know that does that is austin ross n it sure is entertaining
I tried but never could get it to turn out right. Might try it again down the road
Thanks bro you just answer my question
Glad I could help you! If you have any more questions don’t hesitate to ask if there is something I can do I will
Great video! I have the same ma home and looking to tig, What amps are you set at if you don’t mind me asking
I don’t really remember the exact amps I used in the video I believe I mentioned it in the video. I’d I did not mention it I am sorry.
Have you ever run a tig welder like the dynasty series off of this generator welder ? I got a dynasty 280 base model ... I want to try running on my ranger for aluminum
A tig welder no, but I have run the small flux core machine I showed in my video czcams.com/video/Hq5zQZBzC24/video.html , it ran ok only thing was it is a 120V machine and kept tripping the breaker one when run towards the max settings which was on anything thicker than 1/8”. If it was a machine capable of being run on 220v then I’m sure it would have handled it a lot better
Amigo buenas sirve par soldadura tig aluminio
Here's an important question, can you tig weld aluminum with the ranger?
That’s a great question you can but you won’t be doing any code work on aluminum running off the ranger itself you can do dc aluminum but because it won’t have the cleaning action of AC it will not be pretty and can have some structural problems aswell as needing lots more clean up. If you want to do aluminum off of a ranger the best option it to run a smaller ac tig welder off the ranger or to get a spool gun setup for the ranger and spool gun the aluminum
Do you can install a pedal to this mode?? Thanks
No once you strike the arc that is the amperage you don’t have a pedal with scratch start
What power block did you get and does that work?
It came with the weld city Tig kit and yes it works I still use it now and then
Its called a diverter block. U might find it that way. There arounf 10 bucks
Whats the size of the torch you run
It’s a 17 air cooled style
I have a question whats the lowest amprage u can go
Not exactly sure lowest I’ve gone is 55amps on some 16ga ss, I’ve heard lowest it will stabilize an arc is 40 amps but I haven’t tried it.
@@adamswelding5052 thanks for replying i was currious because i see its not digital and the first setting isnt top clear on whats the lowest amperage you can go
Theoretically if you could get the arc to stabilize you could go lower but mine for sure has a very coarse arc and likes to blow holes in thin material easily, so I try to stay thicker than 1/8”
Kool
Glad you liked it
Very informative some ppl don’t know how to use the machines. Awesome job bud
Thanks I try to make them as informative as I can but I still end up leaving some stuff out. But when I catch it on editing I try to annotate it in
What tig torch set up do you have?
It’s from the weld city scratch start kit from amazon
Cool thanks man! Been looking to try to tig more off my miller bobcat and wasn’t sure where to even start
The kit I got came with everything to get started except the argon tank
Found it, not a bad price at all I’m gonna order it now
So I don’t need a k930 if I hear you correctly
What is a k930?
We found where all the stolen cats have gone
No stolen cats there that was a muffler and exhaust shop and more than half our business was referrals from other shops for cat replacements
I have a question
What is the question
@@adamswelding5052 why doesn't my tig torch end don't fit to my Miller bobcat
@@joeanderson2468 is yours a scratch start tig rig like pictured in the video? If so you should be able to just hook it up with a set of stick leads like I do in the video
