      Used to get them some goot Bolete and Pine Rings in the pine forests way back... Also, just after the raining season, you'll se massive Padasole mushrooms popping on termite moulds... They have white gill's, but very very tasty.... First make sure you know how to identify them... Zimbabwe, same as Zambia, has got bright red and orange mushrooms, very very tasty... In season you'll find people selling them next to the roads...
      Never seen them in a book or on video before, but I've got lovely photos of them...
      Regards, from Hermanus.

    Panthercaps are not deadly. They are psychoactive and are very common. They don’t contain psilocybin however and must be turned into a tea

    I have to say I got pretty sad when he walked away from that Panther cap. Pretty funny to see the people here asking where to find magic mushrooms too. Do some research folks. You're not going to get any gems from the contents section.

    The mushroom he identifies as a death cap is a Grisette (Amanita sect. Vaginatae), all of which are thought to be edible/non-toxic

    • @sprinkaan1
      @sprinkaan1 Před 2 lety

      Likely, but probably not worth taking the risk or telling people they can eat.

    • @jjeremyhegge
      @jjeremyhegge Před 2 lety

      @@sprinkaan1 it is definitely. If people want to put mushrooms in their mouth without doing research that they cannot identify that is their own mistake. People need to stop being mycophobic. There are far more toxic and deadly plants all around you than there are mushrooms.

      @@jjeremyhegge I hear you. From an education perspective it's easier to tell someone to rather avoid that small portion, and they can upskill and learn more about it if they are so inclined.

      @@jjeremyhegge I found this note on a description of this species:
      Culinary Notes
      This is an edible mushroom but not highly prized; however, as the genus Amanita contains some of the most deadly poisonous of all fungi only the most expert or the most foolhardy of fungus foragers eat any of the ringless amanitas.

    • @jjeremyhegge
      @jjeremyhegge Před 2 lety +1

      @@sprinkaan1 the majority of edible mushroom field guides contain edible Amanita's, including Grissettes. All with the caution that much knowledge is needed to consume them. It doesn't mean that knowledge shouldn't be shared because there are dangerous lookalikes.
      No Amanita sect. Phalloideae has a striate margin on the cap which is a distinct difference between those sections. There are several other features which set sect. Vaginatae apart quite overtly.
