Ok!!! It finally clicked in my head,, the sync speed and iso = dark. 👏👏🥳.
Thank you for the simple explanation and no cheesy gimmicks or sound effects!!🙏❤️
love finding your older videos. ive found that youre just as good from 4 years as you are now. yeah that sounds bad that youve not 'gotten better' but you were great back then too!
I really liked the problem-solving component of this video.
Gavin is excellent at that
Zion Lutheran Church he is very good at building the shot.
You mean changing the bubble fluid?
I just love Gavin´s tutorials. He makes things simple.
Eduardo Araki he's very fun to learn from. Very informative. I know I've applied a lot of what he teaches in my own photography!
I hope you're able to do so as well.
Only when one has Complete mastery over a subject, can he make things look so simple. Another great tutorial Gavin. Thanks!!
Good to still watch you. Thank you for still teaching us!
It's always a pleasure to learn with you Gavin!
Masking off a large softbox = a strip box = mind blown. So simple but I never would have thought of it. Thanks!
awesome as usual ! Thanks Gavin, your "Take and make" series are great !!
This is exactly what I've been after! Thank you so much. I really enjoy all of your videos. Your energy is contagious. Keep them coming!
I always enjoy Gavin's videos - informational and easy to understand. Thank you and keep up the good work!
This is amazing.. I like the fact you admit when you're wrong or error when you're trying to do a project most photographers do not..
Thanks Sky, the more errors I make, the more I learn... so I learn a lot 😉
Gavin Hoey like Joe E would say it "don't be afraid to suck"
Gonna try this kind of lighting sometime :-)
Gonna go out on a limb here and say that if you believed he made mistakes then he really did a great job in the video. The Gavster knew what the outcome was for each setup and manufactured the "mistakes" to demonstrate the problem solving process for us viewers. It's a technique used to help us learn, and he's darn good at it too.
Thank you, Gavin and Sophie! Another fun shoot, explained very clearly, with very nice results.
Absolutely love your work Gavin! I'm still learning but you give me inspiration that I will be able to!
Gavin makes a video, I watch. Always learn something, love how he walks through the problem solving. Thanks Gavin and Adorama. Great model!
Sophie is so inspiring model! Thanks Gavin for another amazing and helpful video!!!
Enjoyed this Gavin, gonna have to give it a try with my daughter. Great stuff 😊
Great video Gavin. I really like how you start from square one and if that doesn't work you guide the viewer all the way to a finished setup. Keep up the great work😁👍
Gavin you have a very cool way of explaining technical difficulties one of the best on CZcams in my opinion.
I have been watching Gavin since he started way back then, he hasn't lost any of his spark and how innovative, creative, informative and resourceful he is!!! Thanks Adorama and Gavin! Best combo ever!!!
All your videos are well done. This is excellent. Showing how you built up the lighting setup was highly enjoyable.
Thank you so much. I was looking for this technique and boom! you appeared!
Thank you again Gavin for another inspirational and fun video
You are one "crazy" good photographer and coach! Your models have fun, I have fun, seems you do too. I cannot stress enough how much I enjoy your videos - what more can I ask? Thanks Gavin!

Thanks Gavin. I definitely will try this with backlit photos of my models.
Awesome tutorial. Thanks for posting.
Always wondered how to setup light for this type of shots perfectly ......thanks 😍😍
Of all the videos I've been watching Gavin's are straightforward and achievable at home and the short Photoshop tips are very helpful.
First time watching one of your tutorials, and I will be sure to stay tuned!! Great video Sir.
Thanks Kurt, there's loads of great content here on Adorama TV. Stick around and enjoy
ohhhh shit, I remember watching Gavin back in the day (2011) - cool to see he's still doing tutorials :)
Loved this one tutorial. Will try it out soon.
Excellent as always!
Thank you for the tips! I'll be trying a silhouette shoot later this week.
Thank you, Gavin, thank you Sophie! it was like magic!
Thanks Gavin. That tip on covering half a regular softbox to get a striplight was gold. Can't believe I hadn't thought of it before. Those shots would look great in B&W as well.
Thanks Tim. It's an oldie tip but a goodie! The original plan was to go B&W but when I added the bubbles, they're was just enough colour to make it worth keeping.
You are so creative and with the simplest gear and small space. I've learned a lot from you thank you.
Thanks Manuel. I get all dizzy and confused when I shoot in a large studio with top level pro gear 😉
Perfect! Great bubbles 😃😍😍😍
Excellent!!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 I was waiting for this ever since you mentioned this to me at The Photography Show a few weeks ago...thanks!!! Now I see that this was done 2 years ago...I must have missed this!!! 😊
Super-enjoyable, and quite instructive too.

Thanks for this video! I really wanted to do this type of light.
Thanks! It's an Excellent & a very simple idea!
I really appreciate Adorama Tv❤
Love your hack to make a thin light source from a large soft box! Thanks!!!
Thanks Eric. It's and old hack and not a patch on a proper stripbox but it works 😉
Yes, I did enjoy this!!! Thanks for the tip of covering part of the soft box with fabric. I love all your videos!!!
Thanks Patty. Covering a softbox (or reflective umbrellas) is a trick I learned way back in the '80's from photographers far better then me.
@@GavinHoey I think you are one of the best. I always learn something from your videos.

Thank you Sophy :) Lotsa-patience :) and Gavin again thank you I learned heaps. I work with students and bodybuilders so rim lighting is important... Also important > the photoshop trick of > +layer-Blending-mode-from normal to-screen = Seriously Useful..... Long-time subscriber here but at last I remembered to hit that little bell so I get advices of all new Vids - again thanks :)

Thanks Gavin. May be my vocab is limited. But I would like to use something more than "Amazing" or "Awesome" to describe your entire approach. Your knowledge of light is fabulous. In fact entire Adorama team of photographers are awesome and need big round of applauds. :)
Great video, very comprehensive.
Another great video. Tried this out at Wednesfield Photography club tonight, was a lot of fun.
