Maester Aemon showed what true love was. Robert couldn't remember Lyanna even if the war was 5(ish) years ago, despite claiming he loved her. And yet Aemon remembered the girl he loved for more than 50 years. Plus the stellar acting.

They're very realistic characters. Rhaegar and Lyanna were both young, hormonal and whatever and look at what it led to. They were literally fucking and getting pregnant in the tower and people were dying because of them, including her own father and brother. Absolutely disgraceful and arrogant that they wouldn't even contact anyone.

The ending of Jon Snow is really depressing. All the history of his true identity, Ned's sacrifices of hiding his true name, suspense of Sam and Bran realizing that he is the true heir to the throne, being a bastard all his life, getting hated by Caitlyn Stark, to being sent to the Nights Watch, climbing the ladder being the Lord Commander to King of the North, killing Dany, the love of his life for his duty. All for what? Being guilty and sad he killed his love one and being exiled? Nobody even mentioned his true identity in the end! It was frustrating. I know, he would be happy in the North in the end but he deserved much better. He sacrificed his life to saving the people all his life. Aegon Targaryen will forever be my favorite character.
I don't think the story is over. There are too many loose ends to follow up. Do you really think HBO and Martin are going to allow such a cash cow to end?
Danaerys was taken "east" by Drogo. She will likely be resurrected by the Red Priestesses.
Greyworm took the Unsullied to Naatha, which is close enough to join Daenarys should she rise again.
Bran is watching Drogo from afar.
Jon is in the north, just waiting for something to happen.
I predict she will be reborn, Greyworm will join her, she will amass new armies, Drogo will find a she dragon and have babies, then it will be a showdown between Esteros and Westeros.
If they had wanted it to end, there would have been a neater resolution to the characters. Jon would have killed himself with Daenarys, Greyworm would have died, for example.
You just said all of the things I've been thinking... Jon deserves so much more...
Dany deserved more too. All her life she was the underdog and then when she finally has what she fought for for so long her story get bitch slapped by d&d. The mother of dragons and the white wolf the two main characters of the series deserved something more fulfilling.
He wasn't sent to the north. He wanted to go to the wall. He wanted to be in the nights watch. Like Tormund said, Jon was a true north man. Jon never wanted to be king or have the responsibility. He wanted to be free of all the politics and labels. He got exactly what he wanted. To be free. You gotta respect that.

January 2024, still hurts. Everytime I listen to Ramin's music the nostalgia kicks in, whether it's the powerful and magnificent Targaryen themes or the melancholic and ethereal Stark themes. His music in game of thrones is so mesmerazing and beautiful. It will haunt me forever.
Wow your message hit the spot, you put the exact words on my impressions when I'm listening to Game of Thrones' music. Ramin Dwajadi created the very soul of the story and tv show. It is his music which gave life to the many stories of these characters, played by brilliant actors. What a show it was, I will miss it for the rest of my life, no doubt. I sincerely hope he will be back for House of the Dragon. I can't imagine a tv show about the Targaryens without Ramin Dwajadi. He is the one who brought life to their glorious family tragedy.
One year has passed, and the emptiness and bitterness caused by the mega rushed and butchered end of GoT is still here. I will miss the "GoT springtime" of this past nine years for a long time.

Last night I read the chapter where Aemon dies in the books... The moment he heard about Daenerys and how his vigor, his life spirit raises. Just to die days after.. With this soundtrack, it was so touching. Aemon Targaryen was the man.

If it's the first I agree but if you mean they deserved something better as how loveable characters they were I have to disagree. They did so many terrible things, just watch again what Jamie said to Brienne before he left her. I'm sorry but just because at the end he realized how bad he was doesn't make him a good character. He strangled his own cousin! His character obviously changed and he tried to do the right thing at the end but it doesn't exonerate his guilts.
Cersei until the very-very last moment got the choice to quit and get away. She didn't. She sacrificed thousands of people instead, and this is just what happened at the end.
Do they deserve a different ending? Yep. A lot longer end with some long lasting torture.

This show brought up so many different characters and situations that people did and will talk about. There were moral questions that could be approached from different angles, burning Kings Landing is one of those. We could talk about, how accepted is it if I know that someone is running towards me with a knife and I pull an innocent man in front of me to get him killed instead of me, whos to blame more? We could talk about it, well some people could, some like yourself cannot. You obviously have a very strong bond to this show and universe which is absolutely not a problem, but going into conversations with the attitude above made me think, is this guy doing this because he is having a bad day? As your last few words "another useless Lannister hater" suggests, this is not a single instance. As a good thing to mention, the more you experience in life the more likely you will grow it out.

So true. There are even some similarities between Rhaegar and Robb:
- both were honourable men,
- they were betrayed by people they trusted (Rhaegar was betrayed by the Lannisters; Robb - by Theon),
- they both died because one time they placed love over duty (Rhaegar eloping with Lyanna was the reason Robert killed him in a battle; Robb marrying Talisa was the act that eventually led his bannermen to kill him).
So much sadness...

That was the longest 8:34 of my life. I could close my eyes and remember all of those times when I'm loved and feeling it course through my body. I can imagine a timeline montage of all the times with family, friends, and loved ones. Like, I can get so lost in that world. Man, this hits the spot.

even if in the show they are so marginal, Rhaegar and Lyanna are definitely my favourite characters. Such an epic love story, truly a medieval ballad, with such short lives in a world of cruelty and violence.

The scene that was not only the catalyst for the entire saga but was also the physical representation of a song of ice and fire. It was a feat of phenomenal story telling when the narrative (so underpinned and driven by the acts of these two barely mentioned characters) reached this moment and all of the foreshadowing to this point was so brilliantly realised. It was a proper ‘hairs stood up on the back of the neck’ moment for television that usually only literature can deliver. It was so heart breaking when this then apparently served no purpose 6 episodes later.
All those years of wars, betrayals, murders, hates, insanities, atrocities, pain, tears, broken hearts and mind, misery and so on ...because of one lie :

U can't make out if he is moved by these lovers and over-whelmed by emotion and how this union can change the stifling marriage rules n political marriages in Westeros or is he very helplessly bitter, disapproving and angry knowing that these two high-borns elopement can mean war and death of thousands...😔
When prince Rhaegar was the last knight on his horse, you should have seen the enthusiasm, people were cheering for their prince, they were loving him. But all the cheer and enthusiasm came to an end as if with a knife, when Rhaegar rode past his wife, Elia Martell, without looking at her, and placed the tiara made of blue winter rose petals in Lyanna Stark's lap.
When Lyanna breathed her last, dried blue winter rose petals fell from her palms.

Benioff and Weiss. The simple thing is, you can adapt other peoples work beautifully... but if you're left to it yourselves, you fucking suck. GoT ending on a cliff hanger in S7 and even that was a bit mashed up. The only glory was Arya and the Night King. That was it.
Meh, I dunno, I feel we got robbed big time. This show was so beautiful and woven into it was some great story telling in the first 4 seasons, it picked up but was still epic and then in S7 it just rushed like hell. It's like loving the child growing up, but never calling them when they leave home.

I think it was just the hype that all valerians are drop dead gorgeous...aside from Viseris who was dud ...but this actor does look like the mad king actor though...so oh well. At least they look related. Rigg and Dormer matchup still my fave, great casting.
@Sage Hagoromo arya and gendry had a good relationship with one another right from season 2 and I don't think that it was just a hookup, there was love there, but Arya is Arya and she is a lone wolf not a lady.
