Welcome to the end of my very first Vlogmas! In this final Vlogmas video, I bake mince pies for Santa. I made the mincemeat 2 years ago and because I sealed the jar properly, it's still good to eat. I start this video by making the orange and cinnamon short crust pastry.
    Ingredients:
    175g plain flour
    1tsp cinnamon
    25g icing sugar
    80g butter
    Zest of 2 oranges
    1 medium egg, beaten
Rub the butter into the flour, sugar and cinnamon until it resembles breadcrumbs. You can do this with your finger or with a food processor. Add the zest and mix. Then add the egg and carefully bring the mixture together. Then chill for at least 20 minutes.
Once the dough has chilled, roll it out thinly and cut circles out for your pie base. I use a 9cm ring cutter. Grease your pie tins, add the bases then add the mincemeat filling. I chose to cut out shapes for the tops, but you could seal the tops with pastry, or add a crumble topping, or grated marzipan, or top your mince pies another way.
Bake in a preheated oven (180C fan) for 12-15 minutes until the pies have turned golden brown.
Remove them from the tin to cool. The dust with icing sugar.
    Enjoy!
