Another interesting topic Jon. If I was going to spend $500 I would hope to get a bit more bang for my buck than some of these tbh. I have one of the coffee Zippo from the set of 3 and it cost me £25 so no idea on that price for the 3. The vintage I can understand the prices there, but over what I would personally pay. The Mazzi airbrushed, they go for that sort of price on a good day all the time, good investment Zippo. I will need to have a go over on UK ebay to see what sold over here for £500 just as a comparison, for fun!! Absolutely delighted you got too the 500 subscribers mate!! Now for the 1000!!

A few observations on the lighters.
That Santa lighter is *the* lighter from David Poore's book. Based on previous auctions I've tracked it is clear that the seller knows or knew David Poore going back to the 90's. Also interesting to note that the sellers of those first two auctions are well known in the Zippo community, so no surprise they would have some of the best, most unique items to sell, and I have bought from both of them in the past. One was for a $1500+ lighter.
That USS Fulton Town and Country is a printed type. By the 60's they largely stopped hand painting them. It's still a special lighter to be sure. You can see the pixellation in the paint in your video.
Hawkins Treads Inc lighter is a nickel silver lighter and would probably look great cleaned up. While there was only 1 bid on it, truthfully the buyer probably didn't lose money on the deal. If the seller had bothered to take more pictures it's likely it would have gone for a little more.
Then ther'es that "too much coffee man" set which seems like an impulse buy. But who knows.
I usually don't really pay attention to bids with just a single winning bidder (Or even 2, the original bidder may have upped their bid as insurance). That means only one person wanted it bad enough to pay the likely inflated price. So it's often worth clicking on the list of bidders to see if it's just two bids from the same person.

I paid $464.25 for 2 Zippos this month. Sterling Silver Zippo Lighter, Diagonal Filigree Design and a Zippo Windproof Slim High Polished Sterling Silver Lighter. Both new in box.
Nice video! Personally, I would never spend $500 on a single Zippo. I haven't reached that "collectors price threshold" yet. I've slowed way down on Zippo's over the years. Life is too short. I really need to start selling part of mine off sometime. Knives & coins take priority over Zippo's nowdays, for me at least. If I came across a nice 41 black or red crackle, I might drop $500.. but that would never happen. The time to hoard up Zippo's for great prices has passed unfortunately. It used to be fun to collect Zippo's. Now it's just expensive & frustrating.
I agree, there are always those holy grails I may think about spending $500, but that’s a lot of $$ for a zippo.
I agree that prices have soared in the past couple of years. Hopefully it balances out soon!

If I needed one to complete a theme, yes I would spend $500 but as a stand alone Zippo I would only pay that for the Mazzi. Great video again Jon.

Only if it had a pure gold cover and a sterling silver inside. I only buy Zippo's used at an estate/garage sale for $5. Clean them and put a new sticker on it like Snap-on/Mac Tools etc.

I have a few zippos I’d like to sell but having a hard time finding what they are worth. I have a 75 th anniversary 1of 14,000 still sealed never fired. I have one I can’t even find exact lighter. It’s music city marketing also a Bottomz up. Can you help me find the value? They may not be worth anything. They were left to me when my money passed away. All are sealed never opened. The orange sticker on back still there.
Hey, I got a Zippo Marlboro Venetian 1993 August, and im curious what's the value of it, it is used quite heavy, there's no dent, no repairs, the only problem was the insert, it got heavy scratches so it's quite hard to read the writing on it. Soo how much will it be?
Hey Aaron, thanks for watching To check values, eBay sold lists (what I did in this video) would give you the best idea to see what someone may be willing to pay.
A new Marlboro chrome Venetian may go $100+. However the one in the condition as you described, if you can get a few bucks out of it take it.
