  • Adding muscle, eating big and train big. We have all be there, or maybe it's just me. The idea that a bulk is going to give us an insane amount of muscle, strength and ultimately lead to us being able to improve our lean body mass has been around for as long as I can remember being interested in muscle.
Facts: Muscle building is a slower process than fat gaining, so the issue right away is are you adding fat you don't need or won't benefit from?

When I was a 5'11", 140 lb. high school senior, I'd look at pro football players who were ripped and weighed 200 lbs. I couldn't wait to hit 200!!! Now that I'm 60 and 235 lbs., I can't wait to to hit 200!!!! At my heaviest (and strongest), I was 265 lbs. I'm moving in the right direction without losing muscle. Having said all that, I will never "bulk" again. NEVER!

I recall (in New Zealand) as a young soldier coming out of a 2 week field exercise and buying 20 x MacDonalds Cheese burgers at $1 each. From memory I ate the whole lot. But the army rations and field training routines ensured I was straight back in a calorie deficit the next week! Great video thanks 🇺🇸 🇳🇿

Paul, I recently discovered your videos and I was wondering if you could do one regarding smokers. I had quit cigarettes smoking for 3 months (march 1st) but my appetite was uncontrollable even though I ate raw vegetables and sugar free products I could not stop my Hunger I tried fiber and everything. I fell off the non smoking wagon Memorial day but managed to go weekly without smoking, just smoking on the weekends because I can't deal with the excruciating voracious appetite that I never had before. I wasn't always a smoker and I know I can quit because I did it but I can't deal with the hunger. So perhaps you can do a video on how to get into physical shape (which I've done many times before smoking but could never reach my goal.) Nicotine apparently has an effect on appetite. And I want to escape it completely but I can't deal with the voracious appetite that comes with quitting.

My bulk ‘too far’ was 8 and a half stone (120 lbs) 😂
I blame Covid for that. Lost it all now though..

A 5lbs bulk gets you nowhere. Doing 10-15 lbs bulks followed by an aggressive mini cut then repeating has worked well for me.
