800 miles on the new Vette turning high 10’s is pretty decent I think. I think just letting it break in with a few more miles will improve the performance. Tip of the hat to the ZO6 owner for bringing his car in and challenging the Porsche. Luckily Maddie was grocery shopping and made this “which car is better” contest happen.👍👍🇨🇦

Saw this exact Z06 at the track. Ran a 10.6 first pass. He raced the white 991 GT3RS and it was the best sounding race of the event

That Z06 is gorgeous! I love those base wheels way more than the carbon fiber wheel option. Honestly, a 10.89 is nothing to sneeze at for a stock, naturally aspirated car. Very nice!
With a capable drive it can run 10.5

The exhaust comes valved from the factory, open it up
@@rustler08It wasn’t tuned to sound like that. There is a physical difference between the engines which is the flat plane crankshaft.
@@rustler08 it wasn't tuned to sound like a 458. GM decided to benchmark the Ferrari V8, so it is almost identical to the 458 speciale's engine, just with a liter more of displacement.

C8 Z06 is just astonishing. It just keeps impressing more and more. Keeping up with a modded twin turbo Porsche 911 Turbo S on unprep'ed surface with 2WD and N/A 5.5 Liter, just crazy.

Porsche is just on another level, The sheer power and the incredible chassis make it hard to beat..
It has two turboes lol. Twin turbo the Vette then see.
The Porsche is modified. Stock vs stock they would be virtually identical in a straight line but the Z06 would kill it around a track.
At $100 000 more than a Z06 plus the mods, I would sure hope it's faster.
The mods on the Porsche bring it up to about equal power with the zo6.

I love the sound of that flat plane crank! But it doesn't quite produce the torque of a cross plane.. still awesome!
Torque is gonna make a come back with the zr1. I just wonder if Chevy can make it hook like the z06 and base c8 because so far these cars launch like they're awd on most surfaces.
I actually got to drive a Z06 on the tracks in Las Vegas at an Exotics Racing place! And yes they are an absolute blast! With the flat plane V8 sitting right off your shoulder they are very loud! With 345 width rear tires they have insane traction and will hook and book!🏎️🤯

It seems like a significant oversight that you haven't built yourself an Eagle Talon. Aside from the name being on point, it's an OG turbo AWD application and could make a hell of a spectator drag unit.
Always wondered why they overlooked the 4g. Killer set up to make great power
I had a 95 tsi awd that i swapped to a 6 bolt and built. To date the quickest awd platform ive been in by far. Making power isnt the problem with them, and power comes relatively cheap on the 4g63. Its everything putting it to the ground from the trans to the axles thats the issue. I broke all that, alot...
Deciding to go to a shep built trans and transfer case and rear diff and the driveshaft shop cv axles is what really sucked, but it finally stayed together. Some suspension work and it was nasty quick in the turns. Idk why that platform works so well but it does. I really did hate the thing though, always broke, and i didnt have enough money to do it right until shortly before i got rid of it.

I’ve always thought Corvettes were pretty sick. The first one I ever drove was a 75 that had a 454. The fastest one I ever got the opportunity to drive was a C7 ZR1 manual and I’m aware the autos are faster, but I’m all about the feeling of shifting my own gears. I’m looking forward to getting behind the wheel of a C8 ZO6 and I’m excited about the ZR1 when it’s out. I’m not a Vette fanboy, but I respect them
I don't know if the outcome would change, but I'd really like to see a rematch once the full power of the C8 Z06 is unlocked around 1,500 miles. Peak power is much higher in the RPM than you can get to before the break in period is over.
Is it RPM limited? I swear ive heard them rev higher and faster.

@@wavehoggerdon't think it's fully unlocked yet. Car makes 670hp and 460ft/lb torque. Even if that's rated at the crank, I very highly doubt there's 210hp and 100ft/lb in drivetrain loss.
Finally, somebody raced the new Z06 against a Porsche turbo. I’ve been looking for this for a year or so.
That Porsche is modded though, so the Z06 would've won if it was stock

I work at GM Bowling Green Assembly in Kentucky I hear 94+ c8 start up a day probably close to half of them are the Z06 and 70 Anniversary. I love hearing that beautiful LT6 engine start
