- Richard Hammond has bought a new car, and it's pretty much the fastest thing you can daily drive! Richard takes his new purchase for a blast on his favourite road, and explains why he's gone for this hypercar-challenging monster.
Thank you to Gtechniq for sponsoring today's video! They carried out a full decontamination wash of Richards stunning Turbo S using the following Gtechniq products:
GWash - www.gtechniq.co.uk/shop/auto/...
W4 Citrus Foam - www.gtechniq.co.uk/shop/auto/...
W5 Citrus All Purpose Cleaner - www.gtechniq.co.uk/shop/auto/...
W6 Iron & Fallout Remover - www.gtechniq.co.uk/shop/auto/...
Detailing Bucket Kit - www.gtechniq.co.uk/shop/auto/...
Microfibre Wash Mitt - www.gtechniq.co.uk/shop/auto/...
MF4 Diamond Sandwich Drying Towel - www.gtechniq.co.uk/shop/auto/...
C2 Ceramic Sealant - www.gtechniq.co.uk/product-ca...
MF1 ZeroR Microfibre Buff Cloth - www.gtechniq.co.uk/shop/auto/...
Regular car washes do not always remove the tough road grime that can stick to your vehicles paint. A decontamination wash with Gtechniq products gives your car a deeper clean, removing built-up grime, iron deposits, and other contaminants that can harm the paintwork. This revitalises your car's shine and helps maintain any ceramic coating you might have applied. Think of it as a deep clean to keep your car's finish looking its best and protected. If you car is not ceramic coated then do not worry as you can follow exactly the same steps above.

What do you make of Richard's new purchase? 🤔 If you want to see this 911 in the flesh, come to our LIVE event here: bit.ly/DT-Live24-Tickets
I'm going
Love it. Beautiful car.
I think that Richard saying that at 54 he is in a mid-life crisis is optimistic at best. Does he really think that he'll live to 108?
I fancy that porsche
Great choice. Except for the roof. In Britain. Or anywhere else. Coupe only for 911.
Nice to see this channel is now exclusively dedicated to documenting Hammond's mid-life crisis journey
With the amount of crashes ... It's a post mid life crisis
He is definitely suffering from the Menoporsche.
Not really considered a midlife crisis when you're worth millions.
Envy….terrible thing.
It’s his channel. He owns it
Met Richard Hammond in Taipei 101 in Taiwan many years ago. Had no clue it was him. Walked up sheepishly and said "Has anyone ever told you that you look like a guy from a British show called 'Top' 'Gear'?" He said "I am the guy from Top Gear" My eyes widened and I said "WHAT!!??" He said "Yeah, that's me." His crew was in the back having a laugh. Very genuine and friendly person. Couldn't believe it, of all places!
Now I want to see him retell that story.
@@WayStedYouHe was filming a show called 'Engineering Connections' and it was Season 1 Episode 2 where he was in Taipei 101. I'm sure meeting some random guy was the last thing he would commit to memory, given that it was 2008! I'd like to think that I'm memorable, but the truth is....not really. 🤣
Mémorable story tho
Should've asked if he was Hamster.
This is basically old Top Gear when he did reviews. I miss it so much. I'm 42 now, Top Gear and Grand Tour has been a huge part of my life. I used to binge watch it during my recovery from back surgery.
Agree. Grand Tour Mongolia episode was probably the pinnacle of both shows. Too bad Hammond had a supporting role there
Same here bro, except the surgery.
@@TheMILVSCRhear hear
I feel you, I’m 33 and top gear was what got me into cars, I remember watching the B7RS4 review and racing the mountain climbers & now I own one
As a 24 year old man all I knew growing up was top gear! This video was essentially a top gear segment and I loved it
Their sheer ability to tell an amazing story out of a car review, this is why old top gear can never be replaced ❤
Richard Hammond is in a completely different class. The commentating and verbal imagery is so immeasurably above other presenters. So so happy DriveTribe has kept his skills on the forefront. Bravo, Richard.
Too bad it's all scripted. Which all 3 of them admit to
who do you think writes the scripts…
@@robsims4246 Rowan Atkinson ? XD
@@jakeclauson9863Bringing a script this well is much harder than you might think.
His commentary is on another level. Giving me flashbacks
This is pure nostalgia. We're so fortunate that Richard still does these types of car reviews and make us reminisce of the old Top Gear and Grand Tour.
Facts
Another great example of why Richard Hammond is one of the top 3 car journalist in the world (guess the other two). The narration while driving is out of this world. Eloquent, meaningful, concise, conversational whilst also somehow poetic. All in one. Just a joy to listen to while also watching some great camera work.i
Henry Catchpole and Harry Metcalfe. Would love to see those three in a collab. The "other two" you're likely referring to, as entertaining as they are, behind these. And always look forward to Matt - he's a stitch. He and Richard make a great cross-generational team!
Awesome car and its great seeing Richard doing car tests like old top gear
Can't wait for Matt Armstrong to restore this after Hammond crashes it
With the mess Hammond tends to make of cars he’d probably have more luck putting Hammond back together.
thats not funny 😂
Matt Armstrong just crashed his lambo though haha
He won’t though will he…
😂😂😂
Richard in his element in this video. Even though he's doing it for the channel, and not a television program, he's still on top of his game of describing what he's feeling as he's cruising along. His car journalism still shines bright. Keep it up, sir.
One of my favourite things about TopGear was Richard's poetic car reviews. Jeremy brought the noise and the comedy, but Richard's pieces behind the wheel were always odes to the love of driving.
I watch these reviews of Hammonds with the biggest grin imaginable, for 10-15 minutes or so I'm watching old top gear again and everything seems right with the world ❤
My imagination eventually came true! Richard is driving a 992 Turbo, his passion for the 911 lives on.
I can hear Jezza complaining that it's just a Volkswagen!
@mikehipperson With that kind of power, I think even he would be okay with it. But he would still complain about how they all look alike.
Hammond has always loved a fancy beetle
What IS the difference between a 992 and a 911 right now?
@@LlamawithjetpackThe 992 is the current 911.
You can really tell Hammond really loves doing car reviews, and needs an outlet for it in this post TG/GT era. I'm here for it!
Love the fact Hammond is putting a lot of effort into the channel, it's so much better for it, him and Mike are a great duo.
I’m a massive Porsche fan and have had many over the years. Sadly not a Turbo S, but I’m fully aware of what one can do and it is without doubt one of the finest machines ever made. Well done Richard, enjoy it and use it.
Man's been loving these cars since 2000! LOYAL MAN
911’s Great cars period
I’ve been driving since 1984. I’m a chauffeur for a living and driven many cars. But never a Porsche. Last month I drove my friend’s 911 Carrera 4 S. With my hand on my heart. I now know why Richard and other 911 drivers buy these cars. It’s the best car I’ve ever driven.
I was so glad to hear you mention synthetic fuels. A lot of people don't realize it, but those fuels will save the internal combustion engine. I agree electric is part of our future, but it is not the end all be all that some propose it to be.
With the advent of fracking and lateral drilling we have at least a hundred years before synthetics need be considered. Would there be a need for synthetic tar to make the roads too?
I agree if Seb Vettel can run Nigel Mansell's championship winning F1 car on synthetic fuel and it still scream on the straits then we can run standard cars on the same stuff, most road cars are already running on a blend as it is.
@@mclarenjohnf1 F1 teams have far larger budgets for fuel than we mortals. Wearing the hair shirt in penance won't save the planet. Staying home and watching racing on TV will do more than anything racers do at the track, motorists driving for economy rather than performance will also help. I can afford to use synthetic oil in my cars, I can't afford synthetic fuel in my cars. Nor can 99+% of motorists.
@@3ducs synthetic fuels used for internal combustion engines (electrofuels) are a relatively recent concept, and as with almost all new ideas, they are expensive when first made available to the general public. it was the same with electric cars. but electric cars are getting cheaper and cheaper, and so will e-fuels. who knows how long it will take, but one day they could very easily be cheaper than the current unleaded and diesel offerings.
@@3ducs no because almost all tarmac already gets reused already
Richard is still hypnotized about the 911.
who wouldn’t be ❤
Well remembered haha
i got chills watching this. Felt like i was a kid again watching my favorite trio on tv review the newest porsche
The way that finished, with the cut of the music, I thought it was going to cut back to the studio audience clapping next to the car on a stage. Felt like an old school review, love it!
`Hammond, let me say this once, you are still a great journalist. it's what sets you apart from the rest. It's a skill many others would have to Google, Let alone have!
Kind regards
John
Is this the same Richard Hammond that bought a 992 GTS a few months ago and said it's all the power you need on UK roads, or something to that effect 🤣😂😁
@@bad_financial_move9169 thats not the case for a turbo s, i'm a first time NEW car customer and didn't have to have a Porsche history... I had 4 second hand porsches but never bought a new one untill now.
Only for a PTS allocation there was a history condition.
@@bad_financial_move9169 This is Richard Hammond. Porsche could've easily made an exception for him and allocated him the car, irrespective of the fact that he has owned more than a handful of Porsches in the past (including a 991.1 GT3 RS which WAS a car that people had to get allocations for). Don't forget that even James May was allowed by Ferrari to buy the 458 Speciale, despite having owned only a couple of Ferraris prior, all of them used and none of them being special editions. Oh, and this is if Richard actually even needed an allocation in the first place.
Great Review Richard! Thank you so much for continuing car reviews. One thing I have missed from the old TG/GT days.
This. More of this. Just Richard. One of the best Hammond car reviews since his TG days.
That car is an absolute thing of beauty, it's not a Ferrari but I wouldn't want it to be!
So correct
Exactly, it's not trying to be anything else than what it is.
The only problem is the sound. Not design
@@Manusia.satu1nothing wrong with the sound either, it doesn't need to sound like a GT3 RS because it's a 911 Turbo S.
A supercar in a tuxedo. While not as flashy as a Ferrari or Lambo, they are still the finest sports cars available, in my opinion.
you are really taking the car review experience top gear that we all love to our screens yet again...love to see this
❤ i love this video, it speaks directly to me. Im also owning my midlife crisis. Just bought an M340i, didn't have 911 money, but I'm equally happy. Enjoy every drive, Richard 🤘
This car is literally a masterpiece. I´ve never been able to drive it myself, but still being a co driver in this car was one of the greatest things I´ve experienced. Living in the City where Porsche has it´s headquarters makes it even more special seeing Richard enjoying the Turbo S.
Once again an amazing car review. Truly one of the best to do it.
I miss Top Gear. The real Top Gear.
I really enjoyed this video. To watch a man be connected to the feel of a fine car and not be able to stop smiling is great. I've been able to drive those cars once or twice and I know exactly that feeling.
Congratulations on your new car and its nice or should i say wicked.
How you explained was simply perfect.
Perfect. Every word and every second of this video.
Serious OG Top Gear vibes on this.
Amazing video
Dear Richard, I do thank you for testifying your love to 911 with such a beautiful video. You are a gifted, talented, brilliant and passionate journalist. We do love machines. Again, thank you Richard.
Great to see fantastic production quality coupled with an awesome review.
Wow, Richard really is kicking on with his 911 passion! I sure do hope that he has the best time! 😀 I wish Jezza and Captain Slow could also come, and ridicule Hammond, just like in TG/GT days 😹
Proper job Hamster, luv your work.👍🏼🇦🇺🦘
I couldn't be happier to see this as a fellow owner !! My feelings about this amazing car are now even more professionally endorsed ! Thanks so much for this wonderful and spot on review ! It's an amazing machine and they seem to actually be alive ❤
You lucky lucky man!!
This video is brilliant, you sell the excitement and fun of the car, ooze the pure enjoyment and exhilaration of being in the driving seat of a Porsche just perfectly. You present exactly how I know I would. I have managed to scrape together to make my Porsche dream a reality with my Cayenne, but the 911 is where my dream tops out. Congratulations from one Richard to another. Enjoy, and thanks ❤
Never quite understood the whole "middle life crisis" topic. You get older, have more disposable income, get larger and better toys along with it. Some people is a glorified hot hatch, some people is a mega yacht. As long as it makes you smile while you're enjoying it, that's your prerogative to acquire it.
It’s just coined by younger people with a mortgagee and another 40 years of work ahead of them.
As always, Hammond is the best! :) Residents of Crickhowell and Llangynidr should be charging for the use of that road ;)
A great drivers road, did the journey from Llangynidr to the heads of the valley road 3 times a week for 8 years.
The script for Hammond's bit was a really nice collection of call backs to old Clarkson and May comments on the 911 and the nature of supercar aesthetics.
I have no words. Is just the best of Hammond so far, all of it blended in sooo well, you can feel the love and the passion. Better put together then even BBC I might say, what an epic piece. Well done to the team and you sir! P.S. I am enjoying your midlife crisis very much haha
That interior my mate is just😙👌🏻
At least Hammond tells you the truth about fuels staying longer 😁😁😁😁😁🙌🙌🙌
What a fantastic film. Richard Hammond in a glorious car on a lovely ribbon of tarmac I'd love to drive. Proof why the old trio still works.
the highest depreciating 911 currently on sale
Ahh Hammond I miss your emotive car reviews… best in the business
Pure poetry. Thanks, Richard.
I love the poetry you mix with the technical data, when I was a kid I felt weird because I always thought that cars were living entities, time would show me that I was not the only crazy bloke that thought that... thanks for this content!
Hanmond gets new car
Hammond crashes new car
Hammond is still Hammond, never change
At this point its clear Hammond was the guy who actually loved cars outta the 3
I think, and this is just my opinion - all three loved cars but specialized beyond that in different ways. Jeremy loved them as a throughput for entertainment, May loved them for their engineering and uniqueness, Hammond loved them for the feel of driving and wanting to experience all of the different avenues of that.
@@IcarusLIVEExactly, not having all the cars that you like doesn't mean you don't love cars. Even though Jeremy has the GTV6 from Grand Tour and May has a really cool collection of sentimental cars.
James May owns an Alpine A110. Tells you all you need to know.
bro they all own some nice cars. jeremy still test drives some cars for a magazine and james still owns his car collection including alpine a110 and ferrari 458 speciale, just because they aren’t mainstreaming their cars doesn’t mean that they are not into them.
I am curious as to how you came to this conclusion, because as far as I know all three of them has had and still has some pretty nifty cars in their colections.
This video, this magnificent review from a personal perspective, reminds me how i fell in love with Top Gear two decades ago, Richard, you are still one of the best and you will always be.
So it's the Richard Hammond channel now !!
Alright review, when's Issy's take on it coming out?
You think she's driving it after "breaking" the Subaru?
It's reviews like this that remind me why you were always my favorite reviewer on TG absolute poetry
Richard, you are a total class at what you do. The best. Love your new wheels.
i have always liked hammond, even such to the point im not a porsche guy but when i see hammond driving one i just love it :), he really is one of a kind and when grand tour stops i hope he continues this and maybe brings clarkson and may in for some specials ;) i cant be the only one who now no longer cares about the 0-60 or top speed but prefers to see the genuine happiness cars bring to these awsome people, keeps dreams alive for us and generations to come!
You did all of the right specs.. I LOVE THAT HERITAGE DESIGN INTERIOR!!
I had goosebumps from this production. Magnificent
loved this, gave me proper top Gear vibes. class from hammond and the edit team
It feels so surreal to watch this to be honest. I remember watching the exact same angle and the exact same person doing this, my brain keeps convincing me that this arguably now older gentleman is still the same young crazy bloke I used to watch on TV 20 years ago. And well, he is still the same, he is him after all. I guess the point I'm trying to make here is, I've seen so many "celebrities", I dislike using that term, change so wildly in much shorter amount of time and yet here is Richard still doing what he does best, his love for all things car still just as strong as it was back then, possibly even stronger.
The ending gave me the chills. & congratz on your new machine Hammond!
What makes these revues, special, is the honesty and passion Richard puts into his presenting!
I could have watched and listened to both Hammond and the car for another 36 hours. Amazing stuff.
Thanks for still posting and helping us with the mid life crisis Richard, we miss you from the big screen but this format is almost more personal, being viewed on a computer or tablet, you have a wonderful ability to cross the facts with precision and a vibrancy that shows such passion, thank you!
Richard was always my fave and glad he’s still doing things like this ….. btw I used to live by his house guys got a full moat all the way round his property it’s amazing
More more more of this please. Favourite car. The evolution of the 911 is what has made it what it is today in all variants
My laguna seca blue e46 M3 headed to a new home after 15 years of ownership, Richard is right the sound of a beautifully engineered engine is unique and the reason we love machines.
Well done Richard, buying a sensible super car that’s not just for the occasional nice weather day out. Use it and continue to enjoy with that big smile on your face..😊😊
Its 2024 and Richard Hammond is still reviewing cars with the same passion, enthusiasm and finesse he's been doing for decades, incredible, just incredible.🙏❤️
Keep doing videos like this Richard! This gives me old top gear vibes and I'm all for it!!
I have this car. Everything Richard says is spot on. The only thing missing on this car is the front aero package. It really makes the car.
Fantastic video. Richard’s love for Porsche really shows.
It's an absolutely brilliant video. Thanks 🎉
Lovely review. Keep it up, Hamster.
Awesome. And many congratulations.
Having the stripes continue onto the soft top is super cool
Back in the 1970's, I listened to "my elders" wax lyrical about the era of STEAM! Much of the superlatives Richard so emotively expresses, were used by those men (and some women!) about steam locomotives, and the poetry of the senses they inspired.
Whilst I also admire the technology being brought to public attention by EV vehicles, and the INEVITAbLE march of progress, I cannot help but notice history repeating! I have been a "petrol-head" since I was AT LEAST 7 years old! Anglias, Escorts, Cortinas, Minis, BMC 1100 and 1300, Vivas, Wolseleys and Rileys Imps and Minxs, were all cars I could identify from an early age! My earliest sporting heroes were Graham Hill and Jackie Stewart!
This was THE era of motoring for me, and when electric motors take over, can we still use the expression, "motoring"? Without the mechanical "symphony" being transmitted through the chassis, bodywork, steering and suspension components, into our toes, fingertips and buttocks, can we ever again, truly say, "we are at one with our machine"?
If money were no object, I would NEVER waste a moment of my life on the sanitised process of riding in an EV! One can hardly call that "driving"! NO! ....I will be performing a PILGRIMAGE, all the way to North Wales, and having a pair of MST cars built! Both Mk1 and Mk2 are evocative of that first 25 years of my automotive awareness! From learning to drive, all the way to learning to drift the car around streets and car parks on PACKED SNOW AND ICE! ....all under full control! I have never driven a car that had better balance and that gave more JOY in "becoming one" with the mechanical components!
If only Richard would visit MST near Anglesey and try a few of the cars, I think he might find a revelation or two in their workshops?
Came here for Richard's talking about what he knows best. Love it. ❤
It is so beautiful!! It's an absolute class act turbo S,heaven sent, a masterpiece!!!!!! With Hammond at the wheel watching this was a pure delight with his choice of words poetry in motion !!
love seeing hammond with this kind of content
TOP!!! What a video!!! Back to the old glory days of that REAL TG ❤❤❤
Excellent review Richard 👌🏻
Last quote brilliantly put! 🌄
Excellent video, one of the best you’ve put out. Porsche are on another level with the motor car!
Honestly watching this i remember why this guys are so popular, yeah the big tgt things are fun, but this simple car review is put in words that few can match, its more about the feel than just a numbers game, they capture the scene of our imagination
We have missed you .. classy and excellent review as expected
The Nissan GTR has similar speed characteristics and has been amazing for years and much cheaper to buy or maintain.
It’s a Nissan. Just a Nissan.
Thanks in part to Richard's reviews of 911's over the years, I have a 991.2 in my garage now. It's a C4S, not the Turbo S ... but it's still a part of the DNA and is my favorite car to drive...
What a machine! ❤ My old 987 Boxster obviously isn't even in the same league! However for an old car it's reasonably quick & goes about it's business in a fuss free fun way! Porsche legendary build quality is very addictive 💪
Great presentation as always Richard
Hammond. My love for your passion for cars is forever undieing. Top bloke. Keep it up. Fancy a pint?
What a legendary car, glad to see you're putting her to work 👏
992 turbo s is such an amazing car. Congrats Hamster!
