  • Another one of my favourites and the best song Spain ever sent, in my humble opinion.

Mocedades was a big part of my youth, we would spend hours at the café where I grew up in México with my friends up on the stage playing the guitar and singing their songs as well as many other folk songs of the 60's and 70's.
"Eres tu" was one of them, as well as "El Vendedor", "Tomame O Dejame", and more. We all knew the words and sang along, often with tears in our eyes, because this music is so emotional.
Thank you for covering such a classic that very few people know about nowadays, of course especially in the English speaking world. But for us it was magic.
I miss the seventies so much. Life was wonderful back then.
    "En la plaza vacía,
    nada vendía el vendedor...
Y aunque nadie compraba, no se apagaba nunca su voz..." 🎶🎶🎶🎶

Fue un grupo con una gran calidad en las voces. Llevaban muchos años cantando cuando fueron a Eurovisión y hacían un coro impresionante.

You are correct, this was Spain’s best song. It was so strange that didn’t come first… even made it to the top ten hits in the USA.

This song is an anthem and is sad and uplifting. The lyrics are very simplistic, like, You are a like a smile, like a promise, like a summer morning, like a guitar tune at night and so on.... But you add the orchestration and her vocals that were always so emotional and it brings you to tears. Amaia is her name and half of them are siblings. They had a long string of hits back in the day. I suggest you hear Amor de hombre, Tómame o déjame, Quién te cantará?....

Thank you. It's probably in my top ten songs ever to compete in ESC. Her voice is just so great. As they say; "She could hum the phone and I'd love it." Plus the great arrangement of course! Epic! :D

@@gittanwaitingforthenexteur4525 for me, I would put it at number one for Eurovision-and that would rank it even above Abba ("Waterloo").

The beauty of this song is that it can be sung for a lover or for Christ without changing any of its lyrics.

Im glad that you liked it, no surprise. Its been a favorite of mine since I first heard it when it was on the charts in the US back in early 1974. Guess that makes me, old, hehe :) The group also released an English version(Touch The Wind) w/ totally different lyrics, that was written by, Mike Hawker. Cheers :)

I’ve been meaning to listen to the English version. I’ll do it straight away. I have heard the Swedish version though. I’m thinking I like it in whatever languages. I should make an attempt at listening to all of them, just to figure out if that’s a true statement. Haha.. ☺️

Im not familiar w/ the Swedish version, but Ill look around for it. The group also released versions in French, Italian, and even German. As well as their native, Basque(Eureska?) which IIRC was surpressed for many years. czcams.com/video/fyTQv_SwlLk/video.html The English version is particularly poigant to me as when I heard it in 1974, I had just lost touch w/ someone who was very special to me. I recently found out that Mike Hawker wrote the English version as a message to his kids, after he had broken up w/ their Mom :( Juan Carlos Calderon(RIP) who wrote the original Spanish version also wrote several other beautiful songs the group as well :)
