This is Bear. She is our Yorkie/Maltese Mix and she's 8 weeks old. Here are a few videos from her first 3 days with us. Our future hiking buddy in training :)
First night home I woke up at 3am and my micro yorkie was curled up beside my bed sleeping on top of my slipper. Small enough to make it a little bed. Ridiculous cuteness.
@@judeanaya414 yes! collar is usually used for id and tags, and for walking you have to use a harness because using a collar will pull on their neck which will effect them negatively :)
🤣💕 oh she’s so cute I’m so happy for y’all I got mine at home he is the sweetest thing I love him so much they are the best and the cutest congratulations she’s a beauty and a cutie😘💕💕💕
ok hi im florence//you have just the kind of small dog i like//i know this is your stuff from a couple of years ago/but/I have to learn starting now because i want a puppy/a tiny pup//
When I got my puppy yorkie who was 3 months old when she came home she was the happiest little thing and she was sleepy and because I was 8 I thought I would cuddle with her in the living room like I was her mom I still have that picture to this day I miss my baby ☹️
OMG!! So cute, your puppy is so super adorable, by the way, I really need to prove my Aunt to buy one, so she have a puppy, and I need to take care of her for five days, and so if she believe that I'm now a big girl to have responsibilities of taking care of a puppy, so pls. Pray for me,
Slept thru night. Our lab puppy woke up crying crazy first few nights 4 times. He's only 8 1/2 weeks old hopefully he will get better. But yes he's incredibly cute
I promise, it gets better. Puppies are used to sleeping together. Try heating up one of those bean bag heating pads and putting it under a blanket. It might help!
yes im afraid to say i fear i may have caused tracheal collapse in my beautiful girl minnie when a pup.....i still have her shes 8 now but has problems 😔 MUST USE HARNESS
Do you sleep at night? My sister bought a 2 month old st.bernard, he sleeps during the day he doesn't cry much but he keeps us awake at night..its been 4 days and i think I'm already depressed
We always use a harness when we take her for a walk. When we tie her up outside so she can do her business, it's just a collar. She doesn't pull on her leash when she's in the yard so I feel relatively safe.
Chloe 101 this is true. You need to use a harness. My friends puppy almost hung itself when it got hung on something outside. Almost died. If you put a color on them use a kitten snap away collar that releases. I use one only for her rabies tag w/my phone number on reverse side.
Hi! Great question. For the first few months, we didn't leave her alone for more than 30 minutes-1h at a time. My husband and I are on different work schedules so we are fortunate to always have someone home with her. When she does stay alone, she stays in her crate. She has always loved her crate and never had an accident in there so we were very lucky!
well she's a year and a half old now so...I can't show you but I can explain. We had a playpen for her (sold at most pet stores, we got ours from Petsmart. The playpen was attached to her crate so at night, she could get up and go pee on her puppy pad. We started potty training her at about 12 weeks. She rings a bell that hangs on the door when she wants to go out.
We got the crate second hand from a coworker. Usually, they are about 60$. The playpen was the most expensive purchase. I believe it cost around 70$ but it was so worth it. When you can't keep an eye on the puppy constantly at least you know they are safe. Once she got old enough I sold it on kijiji and made my money back so it's well worth the purchase.
How did the potty work on the first nights, when you hadn't had the chance to train her to use the pads?...I mean, I won't be able to have such a big setup for my puppy and I'm wondering if I get a bigger crate (closed during the night) and make it half bed, half pads, will the puppy instinctively know to go potty off the bed, on the pad or it's like with babies, it'll just soil itself & the bed till it's properly trained? Thanks very much!
The puppies were trained to go on newspapers when we picked her up so transitioning to the puppy pad was pretty easy. She had a few accidents on the floor but for the most part she chose to go to the pad. I wouldn't recommend putting the puppy pad in the cage, even if it is an oversized cage. From all the research that I did before getting my puppy, most said not to do that. The dog will get confused and you may have issues later with them going to the bathroom in their crate. Take the time to do some research specific to your circumstance. Best of luck!
1. Do lots of research. You're never totally prepared. 2. Take time off of school/work to spend time with your new dog. They need your full attention all of the time. 3. Don't expect him/her to be potty trained instantly. Mistakes will happen.
Whenever biting. As soon as your puppy lets go, direct her/him to a dog toy or food toy she can chew on instead. Puppies sometimes mouth humans because they learn it earns them attention, so be sure to praise your puppy for calm behavior and appropriate play with toys rather than reacting to the mouthing! My dogs having her second litter, so I'm not necessarily a pro! It was only a tip :)
Also!! When you play with your puppy, let him mouth on your hands. Continue playing until he bites especially hard.. Ouch! When he does, immediately give a high-pitched yelp, as if you're hurt, and let your hand go limp. This should startle your puppy and cause them to stop mouthing you, at least momentarily. :3
@JiraAbernathy, this is exactly the advice I was going to give. When the puppy bites, make a loud, high-pitched noise that shows them it hurts. They will eventually learn to stop biting. Best of luck with your new puppy!
I got a puppy from a pet store called Puppies N stuff and we got a white penkingese puppy and she ended up dying 3 days later which was absolutely devastating for me and my dad Lesson learned dont buy FROM PET STORES
Mia Cabrera she figured out the puppy pad by herself really. We quickly started training her to go outside though. For that, we je brought her outside every 30 min - hour and gave her a treat when she went to the bathroom.
That is not a real Yorkie! Just to let you know! Real ones have ears that always stay up. She is probably half a Yorkie. If you payed the normal amount...sorry you got ripped off. Also why do you let your face near her?
The princess must not know much about Yorkie breed. This puppy will not have ears that stand up for a few more weeks or longer until the ear cartilage is more developed to support the weight of the ear. And some Yorkies have floppy ears that never stand on point. There are some things you can do to encourage them to stand up. One being ear taping and another is gentle massage of the ear cartilage. Never use a neck collar on a Yorkie for walking with leash because of possible trachea damage, always use a harness.
I’m getting one in four weeks I heard this before.., can he wear a collar just around without a lead?

@spoi what?
Did Bear stay the same color? Like Bear, our morkie, Oliver was black and tan when he was a puppy. Full grown he was blond and silver gray.
She is still black, but it is more faded now. She has flecks of copper on her back which looks really cool.
