This original version is an all time favorite of mine, it's super creepy but beautifully shot and feels like it could happen. Great job as always guys.

No one writes uncomfortably realistic yet oddly funny psychological horror like Ira Levin.

Watched this movie and it was so creepy but truly an incredible piece of work. It would be interesting to see another remake of it in 2024 I could honestly see America Ferrera playing the Joanna role very well especially after her performance in the Barbie movie.

Very good movie, nice eerie atmosphere. Ross was also in the great The Legacy (1978), O'Neal always made a slimy villain like his guest turn on Columbo (1972).

The original still holds up quite well. Katherine Ross is charming and likable that you feel terrible when the ending comes round & swallows her up. Never read Levin’s novel, but did read “Rosemary’s Baby” and he wrote it well (the film adaptation did a great job converting to screen).

Decades later this film still is creepy as hell to me.
Paula Prentiss is married to Richard Benjamin.
Peter Masterson's real like daughter plays one of Eberhart kids, Mary Stuart Masterson.
He directed the 1989 crime thriller Night Game, starring Roy Schneider.

This movie was great - thoroughly creepy, subtle, thought provoking & engaging. I only saw it once a few years back but I was glad to finally check it out. I'm glad you mentioned the grocery store scene, the check writing, there's so many little moments like that. The movie is a snapshot of another time. Awesome discussion fellas.

The sequel, "Revenge of the Stepford Wives" made in the 1980s is great because it answers a lot more questions and shows the revenge. There's the "Stepford Children" and the "Stepford Husbands" as sequels.

Is that the only thing you know Paula Prentiss from? She's pretty great. Her TV show with Richard Benjamin is considered a forerunner of the Mary Tyler Moore show style of sitcom and she was in at least one Howard Hawks movie.
