Never stopped casey viator, mike mentzer, ray mentzer, Aaron baker, leroy davis, lee labrada, those who trained under Yates, the thousands who trained under mentzer, myself and the hudreds of thousands who had nothing to lose since they tried every other protocol that failed them on a LONG term basis. Ronnie never trained high intensity (heavy weight lifted very strictly. ex: lift with no momentum, hold for at least 2 seconds and lower for 3 to 5 seconds. Pause for a second then repeat). He just lifted very heavy. Btw, that back injury he endured was in 96. Shit happens. I strained my lower back picking up a 25 pound dumbell about a week after deadlifting 500Ibs with no problem. Freak accidents. The only mistake yates made was training too frequently. Even though the drugs compensated for it, he wouldve been much bigger had he cut down the volume even more. It tickles my funny bone to hear people who dont fully understand the concept (and principals) of hit try to explain why it's either a bad idea or doesnt work. The 1st principle is identity: The nature of the body and how it adapts/copes to stress. The principle of Frequency is also misunderstood - by even the pros. After a while, 3 days of rest wont be sufficient. A full week or longer may be necessary (even that changes). Until that person understands all 7 principles of hit, that individual has no room to speak on the subject. Funny how some people insist on arguing about something they know nothing about. It makes me laugh and gives me a headache at the same time. True competitors compete to win. We all heard the famous quote of herman edwards. The money will come. If you're there just for a check, then no one is gonna take you seriously.

Having met Dorian and Flex Wheeler I personally, for what it is worth, say the reason Flex did not beat Dorian was after spending a whole afternoon with Dorian it became very clear Dorian was TOTALLY dedicated to his goals. Nothing was going to stand in his way. He is without a shadow of a doubt, if you will excuse the pun, very much his own man. When I met Dorian he had just won his first Olympia, and still had a long road ahead of him. Flex Wheeler in the seminar I am talking about stated BB was a means to an end, not an end in itself. To me he seemed more interested in talking about marshal arts than BB. In my 58 years in BB he is the only ' star ' who refused to even take his shirt off far less do a posing routine. He could not wait to get off stage and started selling t shirts and personnel photographs. Sorry if this upsets anyone but it was the worst seminar I have ever attended. Dorian's was one of the best.

If he really dedicated his everything to the sport like a lot of the Mr. Olympia’s and competitors have, then I think his physique would have been undebatably the greatest of all time. but if you go with the IFBB criteria he doesnt even come close to Yates
out of the then 7 mandatory poses he beats dorian in front double biceps, and for the sake of argument lets gibve him the abs& thigh pose as well. But Dorian beats him in the 2 back poses, the 2 side poses and the front lat spread
plus dorian was way more conditioned, ppl just think he beat flex cause he was bigger, but he was also also harder, drier and denser.Of coruse the average gym rat doesnt care for density or hardness like he cares for peaked biceps and aligned 6 pack abs..

Dexter?? GOAT? He is without a doubt in the top ten as he is a truly phenomenonal bodybuilder....but he is not in the running for GOAT.
He won the Olympia, and he looked incredible in doing so, but many others have won the Olympia and are not even in consideration for the top ten greatest. Columbu, Dickerson, Bannister are good examples.
Jackson has turned up in shape time after time and is a true representation of longevity in the sport (and personally my favourite bodybuilder), but his package is too incomplete to be considered in the running for GOAT, I'm thinking of high lat insertions, no calves, a certain lack of width, these may be minor considerations but they still matter in the overall assessment.
That said, I can see why you might consider him given his continued showings right up until the age of 50, that is worthy of special recognition on its own.
