If 70% gives someone great results they'd probably think 70% is the correct way to train.
True
but its well known that flex kind of abused drugs
He admitted to cheating a lot on Burger King.. if he was even 90% he would have been better and unstoppable..
I will use this quote in the future.
But if flex were really only 70%, that means he would at 100% destroy Ronnie too?
Another classic example that hard work often beats talent!
alphagamer047 Character beats talent!!!
In this case it wasn’t talent it was genetics

Dorian is so honest, it is astounding. Flex was cursed with great genes, and he never "looked or searched for it..."
I think Dorian was blessed with a connection to some great steroids and growth hormone why doesn't he bring that up lmfaaaooo 😂 🤣 I love weight training but this whole mr Olympia thing makes no sense to me as soon as they get off the juice these guys shrivel away to normal sized people what's the achievement? Have you seen Dorian at 9 months training? He’s huge!
Wheeler’s lack of conditioning was really noticeable on the backside of his legs. He was at his zenith at the 93’ Arnold Classic. He did a lot of shows back then and it probably inhibited him from peaking at the Olympia. Dorian just trained brutally for one show.
Flex had the best symmetry in the history of body building.
Kiran Bhabal Flex, oil, and implants😂

Disagree, Phil does.

No wonder his hammies and glutes were never shredded. He didnt go that extra mile
Paul Dillet has entered the chat
Him(flex) and cormier used to party a lot, maybe that's why.
You get flex lazy and then you get asthma induced Dillett lazy...the Dillett stories are legendary..ask anyone but the Gary Strydom assessment on Dillett was hilarious. .so too that Australian promoter who brought Dillett over in 93...they thought he was trolling them with his workout before doing the guest pose. ..dude did twenty minutes of free weight lunges whilst on his cell phone..

Hearing those words from the whole interview of Dorian talkin about Flex's 70% courage which he sacrificed for this sports, makes totally sense. Flex himself talked about how much he didnt liked to go train and that he just done all of this for the money basically. Dorian's mentallity was on a whole another level when it comes to that sport, even until today!
Respect for this guy, he told the truth, Wheeler wasn’t as much hungry for the trophy
Flex was far more pleasing to the eye, and he never ripped muscles like Dorian did. Flex did have it all in my humble opinion. Shame that the judges didn't recognise his talent with a Sandow.
flex had kidney issues prevented him from unleashing his true potential
Dorian winning with those injuries may have prompted Flex to say what he did, he was alluding to the politics.
@ijcn0jir3nvjn3fjcifn Well going with your logic Nasser should have won. He was bigger.

You do some great interviews . This one was your best
Dorian had a huge physique and unbelievable conditioning. On top of that Dorian was a great poser who also had Great Abs! Dorian's aesthetic muscles, his Abs, Forearms and Calves absolutely destroyed Ronnie Coleman's... 1993 Dorian Yates had huge, brutal, beautiful aesthetic mass... after that Everything in Bodybuilding changed...
I can't wait to see the full video of this interview. Ronnie Coleman would be another great bodybuilder to interview for his accomplishments, sacrifices as well as is supplement company.
If Flex hadn't told all his secrets to Ronnie Coleman, Ronnie probably wouldn't have been an 8 time Olympian either. Supposedly Flex told Ronnie every drug he took and what exact dosage he was taking and in what order. Ronnie dominated after that.
I'd like know who coached flex
Was it flex who told ronnie all that? I think it was kevin who did, could be wrong tho.
@john hinsdale now look at them...Flex lost his leg & Ronnie can barely walk using 2 legs.
Do you reckon the drugs & dosages can make you win effortlessly
Flex told his "secrets" to Coleman in 94-95, Ronnie started dominating in 98...
Even a bigger mistake by Flex was getting Ronnie to work with Chad Nicholls, who did his diet and got him dry for shows...up until 98 or so Ronnie was in many ways the Roelly of the 90s, a big guy with some outstanding body parts and poses but never conditioned and thus a real threat to anyone
Body Building was changeing at that time and Dorian brought a grainy hardness to the table that you only saw in Gaspari at the time but Dorian brought the size with it.
Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard. We see this in sports all the time and it’s quite sad.
Dorian yates is great please release the complete Interview 👍👍💪💪😎
I'm sayin right nw I ain't watching any more of your videos until u release the full sammy interview.. And its gonna be hard because you have brilliant stuff.. But I'm tired of waiting
@John Szeles the only thing I can think of is that Mr gravano has ask well told him he can't release it until a certain date.. Meaning there's some interesting things gonna be said.. If its not that then he needs pull his finger out and release it... Don't no what I'm more excited for hour long sammy interview or the new breaking bad 😂
Flex had some of the greatest lines and aesthetics ever to grace a bodybuilding stage. And because if his tiny veins, he literally looked like a carved statue. Just awe inspiring. But nothing he brought to the stage was freakish and dry like Yates or Coleman. That's why he was always second banana.
This guy had some of the most intense workouts in secret with his training partner. The shadow one of the greatest ever. Definitely kept me motivated through my hard times in the gym. While brining that same energy to my business.
Had flex, shawn, nasser, levrone, dillet trained the way dorian did, Im not sure dorian would have a single sandow. The concept most people have difficulty grasping. Dorian was asked years ago what ronnie would look like if he trained with high intensity. His response was "I dont want to know."
@@luciano-km7mq so good! I really love this response friend.
@@luciano-km7mq True. But don't forget that Dorian also had many severe injuries because of his over the top heavy training. Just like Coleman. There is a thin line between training smart and training too heavy.
@@metalgamerk9549
Never stopped casey viator, mike mentzer, ray mentzer, Aaron baker, leroy davis, lee labrada, those who trained under Yates, the thousands who trained under mentzer, myself and the hudreds of thousands who had nothing to lose since they tried every other protocol that failed them on a LONG term basis. Ronnie never trained high intensity (heavy weight lifted very strictly. ex: lift with no momentum, hold for at least 2 seconds and lower for 3 to 5 seconds. Pause for a second then repeat). He just lifted very heavy. Btw, that back injury he endured was in 96. Shit happens. I strained my lower back picking up a 25 pound dumbell about a week after deadlifting 500Ibs with no problem. Freak accidents. The only mistake yates made was training too frequently. Even though the drugs compensated for it, he wouldve been much bigger had he cut down the volume even more. It tickles my funny bone to hear people who dont fully understand the concept (and principals) of hit try to explain why it's either a bad idea or doesnt work. The 1st principle is identity: The nature of the body and how it adapts/copes to stress. The principle of Frequency is also misunderstood - by even the pros. After a while, 3 days of rest wont be sufficient. A full week or longer may be necessary (even that changes). Until that person understands all 7 principles of hit, that individual has no room to speak on the subject. Funny how some people insist on arguing about something they know nothing about. It makes me laugh and gives me a headache at the same time. True competitors compete to win. We all heard the famous quote of herman edwards. The money will come. If you're there just for a check, then no one is gonna take you seriously.
Roderic Grant I remember one video that showed Chris Cormier training at Dorian’s Temple Gym in England. Cormier was known to train heavy and even he couldn’t handle Dorian’s workout. He went outside to the back alley and vomited.
Very insightfull stuff
Love the honesty.

I love these videos
Humble hard worker, Champion Yates. Difficult training over time is peanuts for him, whilst the average guy wants to quit. In other words, it parallels Arnolds advice of hard work followed by showing the audience. Wouldn't have guessed his attitude without this matter of fact video.
Having met Dorian and Flex Wheeler I personally, for what it is worth, say the reason Flex did not beat Dorian was after spending a whole afternoon with Dorian it became very clear Dorian was TOTALLY dedicated to his goals. Nothing was going to stand in his way. He is without a shadow of a doubt, if you will excuse the pun, very much his own man. When I met Dorian he had just won his first Olympia, and still had a long road ahead of him. Flex Wheeler in the seminar I am talking about stated BB was a means to an end, not an end in itself. To me he seemed more interested in talking about marshal arts than BB. In my 58 years in BB he is the only ' star ' who refused to even take his shirt off far less do a posing routine. He could not wait to get off stage and started selling t shirts and personnel photographs. Sorry if this upsets anyone but it was the worst seminar I have ever attended. Dorian's was one of the best.
Could you imagine how godlike Flex’s physique would’ve been if he really had that mental grit and that drive to be the greatest. If he really dedicated his everything to the sport like a lot of the Mr. Olympia’s and competitors have, then I think his physique would have been undebatably the greatest of all time. I personally already think that he had one of the greatest physiques ever, so if he really tried 100%, I don’t think that I would even doubt it.
Flex has the best body of a man ever walked on earth... but dorian was the game... a monster... unbeatble
If we’re all being Honest...
Flex had by far the more ideal Body. Judges were looking at mass more then that’s all.
They still do.
Look at him now. Look at his arms, what he did to himself? Lost leg due to Synthol abuse too! Dorian didnt use that crap
the ideal body for the average gym rat maybe-great arms , abs with ok back and legs
but if you go with the IFBB criteria he doesnt even come close to Yates
out of the then 7 mandatory poses he beats dorian in front double biceps, and for the sake of argument lets gibve him the abs& thigh pose as well. But Dorian beats him in the 2 back poses, the 2 side poses and the front lat spread
plus dorian was way more conditioned, ppl just think he beat flex cause he was bigger, but he was also also harder, drier and denser.Of coruse the average gym rat doesnt care for density or hardness like he cares for peaked biceps and aligned 6 pack abs..
Dorian is just great
Bro please drop the gravano interview already

He could he in any era. He just didn't work hard enough to win the Olympia. But hell, he won everything else!
David Pierce Any era except the Dorian, Ronnie and Jay Cutler eras. Those were the eras of the mass monsters.

I think the thing to remember is Dorian came out with insane mass and conditioning vs the typical symetry and that's what always pushed him further. Back then mass monsters were more a rare commodity
Flex is a myth a legend.. the balance he had was much much better than Dorians
Dorian just won cuz he was a bit bigger then flex but prime Flex 1998-2001 was too bigger than Dorian he used to rival big Ron in size
Harimann Bakshi yeah he used to Robo call Ronnie in size but that’s like comparing Someone’s size at 22 y/o to someone’s size at 16. You cannot compare them like that you compare them with prime versus prime

The jump from 92 to 93 that he did physique wise Mass wise shredded wise those black and white photos that came out on Flex magazine a few months before the 93 Olympia everybody at that point new and figured out that they were going to be competing for second place.
It was a psychological coup that they wouldnt be able to recover from for years. I mean in those pictures alone he was stage ready at that point, months before the Olympia.

Dexter?? GOAT? He is without a doubt in the top ten as he is a truly phenomenonal bodybuilder....but he is not in the running for GOAT.
He won the Olympia, and he looked incredible in doing so, but many others have won the Olympia and are not even in consideration for the top ten greatest. Columbu, Dickerson, Bannister are good examples.
Jackson has turned up in shape time after time and is a true representation of longevity in the sport (and personally my favourite bodybuilder), but his package is too incomplete to be considered in the running for GOAT, I'm thinking of high lat insertions, no calves, a certain lack of width, these may be minor considerations but they still matter in the overall assessment.
That said, I can see why you might consider him given his continued showings right up until the age of 50, that is worthy of special recognition on its own.
It wouldve not looked gon his part because it wouldve been a lie Doran ushered in the mass monster era that's wht got him by

This type of competitiveness doesn't exist in bodybuilding anymore and it shows in the quality of the physiques today.
