- After chasing CEL codes for months, replacing the MAF, O2 sensors, plugs and coil packs, we break down and take it to a dealer -- Forgot to mention that after they test drove it, they also replaced the oil dipstick since that was contributing to a leak in the sealed crankcase ventilation system.

thank you so much ,had the same thig only rough at idle and eml light came on so i was freaking didnt know what to do didnt want to go to the dealers,so i came online found alot of rubbish info till i found you took off my engine cover and there they was two split vacum pipes ,replacesed them and WOW,sorted so thanks to your video i saved a fortune,so thanks again, neil from london england
Had the same problem.
Bought a 1metre of 10mm silicone hose and it solved the problem. It's more flexible than original part
PCV valve is also a common source of vacuum leaks on some engines and is really easy to check. With engine off, find the tube that runs from your PCV to the intake manifold and unplug the manifold side. Leave the PCV valve side connected. Clean the end of the hose with a shop towel and blow into the tube. You should hear a check valve close and feel pretty immediate air resistance. If you don't hear the valve and there's little or no air resistance when you blow into the tube, you have a bad PCV valve.
thanks for the video. I think this will really help me out
Sometimes on these cars, especially as they age, the engine mounts go bad. Transmission mounts sometimes too. The engine is running perfectly but it feels rough and looks rough too. Some polyurethane engine mounts will not only last longer but give you a much better feedback from your engine while driving. Not saying this is the case here, just a word to the wise before you go to all the trouble of hunting boost leaks.
My 06' GLI makes that same engine sound... the ticking noise, but now I see that this is actually what the MK5 sounds like.
Man, it had me stressed tf out

Please check your measuring blocks 91/93 (any good scanner will do.
If they are out of spec, make the decision now to change the chain and tensioner. Can't impress on you enough.
Love the GLI.
Hey bro i have error code p0030 maybe you could help me what part i should replace i have vw golf 2.3 v5
Hello, what kind of issues you had with this vacuum problem?? Aceleration problems? Or power loss??
gener Luna check out the previous video czcams.com/video/HqR1-UpJkuA/video.html
FearlessMods thanks! I tested that line, and actually it has a leak, little but is leaking, i will fix thanks again
Thanks for sharing.
Did the dealer list any part #s on the paper work? Im having the exact same codes and issues.
RCAST I’m sorry. I looked for any service records but didn’t find them. I’ll check one more place and if I do, I’ll let you know.
Thanks Biff, I would appriciate that.
Hey i’m having very similar problems would really appreciate if you could find the exact part needed was it the wiring harness or the brake booster hose that was replaced? Thank you in advance! 👍🏽
Still looking fellas. Going to call the dealer with the VIN to see if they can pull it up. Stand by...
Thanks Biff. The area that you described i found this Power Brake Booster Vacuum Hose on fcpeuro.com. I think thats the part you were talking about. It will come in tmrw. We shall see. Thanks again.
I heard hissing from my gti after I turned it off which is why I’m thinking I have one. Did you hear one w urs?
That was a while ago, but I don’t recall us hearing any hissing.
Can the oxygen sensors be clean??
I've never tried that. However, once they're bad, I would assume replacement is the most reliable solution. Easy enough for you to give it a try if you wanted to though!
Nice! Can you get the part number off of the invoice that they replaced?
cjdoc77 check out the thread. I believe everything you’re looking for is in my reply to RCAST 10-11 months ago. Good luck!
FearlessMods problems you had with this faulty part??
how did the dealer find the vacuum leak ? and can you give us part number
From a comment 3 years ago: brake booster vacuum hose. Ours was p/n 1K0612041GM. They also pinpointed the leak to the dipstick cracked and not sealing the crankcase (p/n 06F115611F) and some OEM fuel additive (p/n A001780M3). We didn't go for their recommendation to replace the vacuum pump even though they said it was leaking oil ($605...No!). If it ain't yet broke...
@@FearlessMods thanks very much , i have a rough idle on my 2.0TSI , much vibration , hesitation , on coasting throttle it stutters .
And ive changed a lot of stuff , and didn't help so , im narrowing it down .
could not see where is the problem cant see what you were trying to explain
Sorry you couldn't see it. I recommend you look at a few different videos to help you identify and fix whatever problems you may be having.
What the ticking noises I hear on mine a lot I hate it
That’s injector noise. Totally normal on these engines.
That's a shame
