  • In this video i show how to disassemble the top half of the Bosch VE injection pump found on our first gen dodge Cummins diesels.
    I then install the "366" governor spring and an aftermarket fuel pin.

    I hate seeing a dirty work area, all that crap going into the pump internals. It's a very easy/dumb way to mess up your pump. Always clean your work area before disassembly, it makes things much easier to work with, see, and prevent unnecessary damage. It's as they say... "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure".

      yes, i missed that because i did not do it. I didn't know why you were supposed to back it out, so i didn't. No harm though. if you carefully re attach your cover and make sure it isn't hung up on anything, you'll be fine. If you do break it though, you'll be taking off the IP!

    thank you for this great video! But I have one question. How do you remove the fuel supply line crossing over the top of the tps? Do I hold the top nut with a wrench while turning the bottom with another wrench? Thank you!

    • @themadmailler
      @themadmailler  Před 7 lety

      Thanks! glad you enjoyed it. I don't know what you mean by "tps", but i assume you're talking about the one on top of the injection pump. It's like a larger brake line fitting. keep the bottom fitting (closer to the pump) stationary and turn the top one. be careful, the nut may be rusted onto the line and want to turn the line with it.

    • @db7454
      @db7454 Před 7 lety

      themadmailler themadmailler sorry, I mispoke. I meant the throttle lever. But yes, that's the correct fuel line. I'm not entirely sure but I think it's the opposite of what you describe. Turning the top wants to turn the whole line, and there isn't any rust. The bottom fitting appears to turn but not easily.

    • @themadmailler
      @themadmailler  Před 7 lety +1

      There is probably rust in between the nut and line - it doesn't take much to stiffen it up. use oil and a torch to try to loosen it up, and work it back and forth a little at a time. the bottom fitting doesn't turn easily because it's still attached to the top, which does not want to spin. be careful with it, but you'll get it.
