You know CoD has really gone downhill when a single mission from a decade old game manages to be more fun than the entirety of CoD Vanguard
Yup look at the early cods like Finest Hour, Big Red One, COD 2, WaW, COD 3 and some others they're superior in every way.

A game needs to take certain liberties to be enjoable, but if the setting makes you immersed in the time period and area it's supposed to portray - then it's done the job, whether historically accurate or not.
P.S.
The reason there are trashed Tigers II's in Stalingrad is because they only modeled two types of wrecked german tanks that come from later in the game (where you actually fought them in previous video). So to save time and money they re-used it in Stalingrad so they don't have to create Pz IV's that were only going to be used for one scene because in no other part of the game you see/face Pz IV's and their subsequent wreckage, but you have entire 2 missions where you fight and wreck numerous Tigers and Panthers . A lot of assets work that way. It's not necessarily because they weren't aware that they don't belong there, they very much did. But it's because they had to cut as much time as they could without sacrificing too much. Remember this is already in the era of Annual Releases.
I'm pretty sure in the mission Blood and Iron you face Panzer IVs but I could be mistaken I may need watch a video on that mission to confirm whether or not there are Panzer IVs in that mission but I'm pretty sure there are.
@@inductivegrunt94 No, you're right. There are panzer 4s that you one shot while driving the tank. There are essentially three types of tanks you'd fight and it's the Panzer 4s, Tiger 2s and Panthers
@@TedTheHobbyist Never actually seen a PZ4 wreck personally, at least not the ones like wrecked Tigers and Panthers in Stalingrad. Maybe a low-res placeholder models that you don't see for long perhaps?
Annual releases don't actually affect development time. Even when it was just Treyarch and Infinity Ward, that still gave each game two years of dev time and now that they've added Sledgehammer to the mix, each game gets three years of dev time.

WaW is definitely a certified classic, personally it’s the very best WW2 themed FPS to this day despite not being the most historically accurate. Despite how hot CoD4 was doing and Treyarch was one again making another WW2 game…they still made a true passion project from head to toe. However this game’s potential wasn’t fully taken advantage of due to the annual release bs. I guarantee you that if WaW had an extra year of development time, we most likely would’ve gotten the British Commandos for the campaign and multiplayer as well as the Italians. Probably the ANZAC too.
Fun Fact: The Mosin in game has the charging handle moves, but the bolt never opens and closes. It only does that when you reload
The crosshair on the Mosin is wrong, just noticed after god knows how long.

The part that makes me sad is that the devs of new CoDs don't try to hard on the campaign because 90% of their playerbase only give a shit about multiplayer. I truly believe the only reason there are 60 round mags and other dumb attachments are just to make the guns competitively viable in fucking warzone.

Its not really true though, there were tons of die hard fans that played every campaign before going into multiplayer. It was almost like training for it. You got to see the settings for the multiplayer maps and learn all the guns and equipment. To me the story was the only reason i was buying cod games lately but not they are just token shit holes
Same can't be said for Infinite Warfare,MW and Cold Wars Campaign despite the Decline in Quality in CoD

Vanguard was definitely lacking in the campaign department. Only 10 missions and story was just flashback with you in a cell most of the time.
HOWEVER, cold war and modern warfare were definitely fun, in my opinion. Shoot, infinite warfare, the game that ppl love to hate, has what I beleive to be the best campaign in all cod!
Notice how he points out so many inaccuracies, like vanguard, but loves it so much more. It is all about how the campaign is, which Vanguard dumped out the window.
He pointed out barely any. You could watch the first 10 minutes of his first vanguard videos and he will have pointed out more mistakes then he did in this entire mission

The King Tiger wrecks,Officer Uniform inaccuracies,Mosin Nagant scope in accuracies,the planes in the sky,the Panzer IV modules,the location itself even.Its not as accurate as the Red Square,he mentioned it during the fountain scene. The Flamethrower the german uses being "fictional" but i'd correct him theyre using the M2 Flamethrower.

Just by looking at the models of tanks and such in this mission, you can tell the developers could only model so many unique vehicles. The rest of the soviet missions take place in the later war so it makes sense that if they didn't have time to model 1942 vehicles that they would just reuse models from the late war missions. The reuse of the M2 flamethrower from the pacific missions in this mission also displays that.

Kind of, but on the other hand it wouldn't be that difficult to remove the turret skirts from the Pz IV to make it Stalingad-appropriate and to create a destroyed model of that instead of Tiger II.
At 3:20 you mentioned the corporal chevron on Amsel’s right sleeve. What I believe that is supposed to be actually is the honor chevron for the old guard which would be for anyone who joined the SS before January 30th, 1933. There’s photos of higher ups like Reinhard Heydrich and Heinrich Himmler wearing it

That would still be inaccurate because Amsel isn't a member of the SS - even if he was he wouldn't be wearing the chevron on a Heer uniform.

The scene with the bar gives me goosebumps every time. The music, the speech, the implications for their war crimes later in the campaign, perfect.

The flamethrowers in this mission (and the rest of the Soviet campaign to a lesser extent) are American M2s from the Pacific campaign.
You were right that they aren’t accurate, but was likely due to not wanting to make an entirely new German flamethrower model for the few times it appears.
I really like the detail at the last square where you can see one of the german troops pointing at the players direction while trying to get his fellow soldiers to shoot at the area. You can clearly see him pointing several time while also communicating with the rest, it's a nice detail added.
Its true that even WaW have their own history inacuarte in this game but whats actully great is that Germans dont wear Winter coats like in Vanguard, also its pretty for eyes to not See MP-40 with Drunm magazine and Some random Scopes, also why noone ever shoot those Halftrack with That PTRS-41 cuz its Anti tank/Anti material rifle.

This was a fun listen. If you're playing any of the Wolfenstein series, you don't expect any realistic weapons or historical accuracy, because it's not meant to be those. But when the game devs tout the "realism" and "historical accuracy" of their game and proceed to not look at any history to make it that way, those add a level of irritation with the game that doesn't need to happen.

Me! I literally shouted "Reznov, move your ass!" when he turned around.
That's reminded me moment from Saving Private Ryan film and similar scene with sniper in the end.

Reznov has a straight bolt handle on his rifle which would get blocked by the scope, but when he gives it to you it has a bent bolt handle.
As everyone else is saying, it would be cool to see you do this with the older, original CODs and their spin-offs (COD Classic, Finest Hour, 2, Big Red One, 3, WaW Final Fronts)
I really enjoyed the WaW final front missions.

Fun Fact: This King Tiger Has arrived to Stalingrad by the Time Machine, It was fighting in Morasko, to cover the Die Machine in Nacht der Untoten bunker. But as Soviets kept pushing, the Germans opened a portal to dark aether and they started to get convoys inside to travel to Berlin. But zombies attacked and they went into the bunker, all tanks were broken now and one inside the portal time travelled to Stalingrad, because the nazi that was responsible for portal travel turned into zombie and got the Tiger to Stalingrad instead of Berlin.
Best to ignore the Zombies plot line :D

Hey, I would love to see a historical breakdown of a mission of your choosing from Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault. I played it not too long ago and I think it’s one of the more accurate WW2 games out there
Is that the MOH where I can shoot down Zeroes with a M1 Thompson at Pearl Harbor? I think I got it for free on Origin once, played like the first few missions, then got a new laptop and didn't reinstall it while playing other games.

If you’re going back and playing old CoD games, might I recommend Call of Duty 2: Big Red One? It’s a spinoff with a captivating and unique story that deserves far more recognition, in my opinion.

So from my memory, the Wehrmacht in here use M2 flamethrowers (I’m not 100% sure since I haven’t really looked and I’m by no means an expert) but they probably reused the models from the American missions. (Just like why they have a KT and the PZ IV. It’s cheaper and easier and most people won’t question it lol)

They are absolutely M2 flamethrowers. If you pause at 9:29 or 9:30, there’s a German outside the window with a flamethrower, and you can clearly see the distinct double pistol grips and the big conical housing near the muzzle for the pyrotechnic igniting charges, both defining features of the M2.
God never when I played this mission did I realize that the freaking tank turret turns to fire since I kill Amsel towards the end of his run or in the car but seeing the tank turret turn to face Dimitri and Reznov for the first time I was like "Oh Shit!" and that was funny so much cause I never saw that happen in my entire time playing that mission dozens of times over. Brilliant use of the tank to fire on you and forcing you to make your escape via the river.

This might be the hardest call of duty campaign to play on Veteran, hours of dying, raging, grenade spam, etc.

One tidbit about the ptrs, it's got an offshoot; which is the sks. The "s" at the end is the initial of the designer, he made those two guns.

This Call of Duty is the best WW2 set game in the series next to CoD 2, for me. Would really like to see a breakdown of the pacific campaign.
Also, maybe some of the Medal of Honor games in the future, like Pacific Assault. A game that I believe might have the closest to accurate gameplay/settings then the rest of the Medal of Honor games.
This game was made during a time where looking for historical accuracy relied on books since the internet was just starting to rise

Something I've always wished people would appreciate is the fact that the Mosin PU scope is only a 4x, it's not the range of a hunting scope

World at War was sort of rushed, it was supposed to have a British campaign and the Russian Campaign wasn't originaly mean to be in the game lol, that's why a lot of things are unfinished, wich is kinda sad...

I know you may hate me, which given the context is fair, but have you thought about the historical stuff from Battlefield 1 and the recent Battlefield WW2 game? I know both had campaign missions so would you hate doing historical breakdowns of them?
The norway mission in battlefield V will probably give him a stroke.
Battlefield 1 campaign is pretty good, not perfect, but enjoyable nonetheless in my opinion

Cod world at war reused the M2 Flamethrower for the Germans to use, later we get to use the M2 Flamethrower
If I’m remembering right, the only model of flamethrower in World at War was the M2 from the American campaign. The German troopers here in Vendetta, Heart of the Reich and Downfall all use M2s. For whatever reason, they either didn’t bother to find, or couldn’t source a Flammenwerfer 35 or 41 to model one. Just like how the Americans (or more curiously, the Japanese, considering where you find them) are using M9A1 Bazookas despite them only being in production for a couple months by that point.
The soviets also use bazookas for some reason, but it only happens like two times in downfall, and it can be excused as lend-lease
And just to add some Russian perspective:
6:10 there would not be winged angel statues in the USSR, the sign at 6:28 says одуежда but should be одежда (clothes).
Smaller nitpick, but there were no bars or bar culture as such in the USSR before the 1950s, and it does look weird that a Soviet soldier would feel emotional in a bar instead of a park, bund or cinema at least.
Remember, the current heads of CoD said there were NO good memorable characters in all of CoD

The flamethrowers are the American made M2 model. I don't believe any German made ones are in game, likely do to save on modeling costs and stuff.
Just a little nitpick the chevron on Amsel's arm isn't meant to be a corporal chevron. It's a SS Honour Chevron at least from the look of it. I think in the game he is supposed to be a SS general but they sorta mushed the Heer and SS uniform together to make him.
That’s what was throwing me off. It’s the same chevron from appearances and distance. I’m like, he is a Wehrmacht General. So that can’t be an SS chevron. But you’re right. But he arrives in a Wehrmacht staff car not an SS one (which they usually have their own, the image I showed has an SS numberplate). This mission is really the only seriously inaccurate one of the Russian missions. Besides Blood and Iron. But gratuitous tank battle to the Oder river is worth it.
Yeah his uniform imo is the worst in the whole game. In terms of historiclly accurate since he is mainly just a asset dump. With a SS jacket with Heer ranking tabs and a SS cuff title with NKVD breeches.

The sound of the PTRS on the map Seelow was the one for me. I still hear it haunting my dreams.

I think the german flamethrowers are using the same M2 flamethrower the Americans have in the Pacific campaign.
The intro of vendetta is one of the best intros, it shows you just how brutal and unforgiving the germans were towards the soviets.
The Fw200 condor actually did serve in the battle of stalingrad, so this scene is spot on.
One thing that pisses me off to no end with most WW II games (this one included) is the improper mag pouches for the weapons they are carrying. (at the start of the level the german riding on the back of the panzer IV in the cutscene was using a kar 98k but had Stg 44 mag pouches for example)
Not as a bomber. KG40 was shipped in after they were encircled as emergency reinforcements for transporting supplies. Which as a former airliner the Fw200 is suited for. There were also only 276 built. I see about 80-100 in the opening scene. As a bomber it was exclusively Maritime operations, minelaying, anti-shipping. It was also Hitlers personal plane.

While vanguard was mostly cringe, they had plausible\period-correct posters and transparants in Stalingrad maps. Much more grounded into the culture, bar the cringy para-russian tokenism and fuckfest with everything else in the game. WAW, while being period correct in the uniforms and guns(mostly, PTRS had no optics installed on it, only iron sights, optical mount for it was considered by Kochetov, but not implemented in Stalingrad timeline. Zaitsev wrote something about mounting PU on it for the sake of it, but nothing more), fails to deliver the SOUL of Stalingrad. Soul of the soviet union.
What WAW shown us, was a story - from being beaten and humiliated, comes the revenge. What germans did to soviets in Stalingrad, soviet did the same in Berlin.
The flamethrowers the germans use in this mission (and the Reichstag assault mission too) are actually just M3 flamethrower assets from the pacific missions that got flipped and reused.

When I 1st visited Stalingrad (volgograd) I really enjoyed it but at the same time it felt very strange... coming out of THE train station ... seeing the fountain still there .....
The city had obviously modernised but some things are still there ... pavlovs house etc ...... walking upon mamayev kurgan ....seeing how important it was . . Could see so much ..... the memorial.... the tanks parked outside the museum ... tanks parked in the streets to indicate final assault positions etc...... best German restaurant I've ever been to..... didnt swim in the Volga despite plenty of people doing so ....
They should make a cod game about what happens to reznov and dmitri in between Stalingrad and Seelow Heights
If Vanguard had been this, I might have bought a COD game for the first time. I never played the series other than the very occasional few hours at a friend's house. And I didn't enjoy my time with the games we played there. But this sort of campaign would be excellent, I would probably have had fun with WaW if I was playing video games at the time.

they're using the M2 flamethrower, since they had the model for it and figured "nobody will care enough to make sure we have ROKS-3/Flammenwerfer 35s for their respective factions."
It seems they modeled the tanks based on the late war given most of the game takes place in 1944-45 so the Panzer 4 J, King Tiger and Panthers makes sense that they didnt want to waste time making more models

The flamethrowers they're using are M2s. Probably reusing assets to save memory and disc space. Same for the wrecked king tiger and late model pzIVs. The game is old after all
More World at War. Do the whole campaign. Especially the airfield, where you get the flamethrower.
This was my favorite Multi-players game, always used bolt-action rifles.
On the topic of tense missons, Pavlov's house from cod 1 does it for me.

So the Flamethrower is an amalgamation of the American M-2 flamethrower, and an experimental conversion kit for the American tanks. That was copied by the Germans for their M-35 Light Flamethrower.
The M-35 had several short comings as after American M-2 flame throwers where captured in 1943. The Germans began making similar designs for theirs. Swapping out the old Oxygen systems for a more stable nitrogen and later helium.
The reason those tanks explode is cuz the Germans never switched out of Oxygen as an accelerator. But the Flamethrowers should not be out in the open. They would be near tanks or armored cars, the tank would also not be worn unless assaulting. It should be on a truck or in its storage crate

IIRC the flamethrowers the Germans use in this mission are M2 flamethrowers from the Pacific campaign standing in for Flammenwerfer 35s and 41s.
I'm guessing all the King Tiger wrecks are because the whole rest of the Soviet campaign takes place in 1945, where the developers placed those tanks everywhere (as well as had to model them since you destroy several of them), and they simply either didn't have time; or didn't bother to model Panzer III/IV wrecks just for this one mission
Most likely the former. I think the tank wrecks were reused assets from cod 3 if I remember correctly.

I don't know how many people know this but you can actually destroy the halftracks using the PTRS, so it is functional as an anti-tank rifle

The flamethrower the Germans are using is an American M2. My guess is that much like the late war German tanks, the devs didn't want to waste disk space on modeling the correct FmW 35/41 since it was an asset that would be seldom used and not really visible to the player up close so they just gave recycled the existing flamethrowers from the Pacific campaign where they were going to be prominently featured.
The flamethrowers that the Germans were using are on this mission is the M2 Flamethrower. Yes that’s right, they were using an American Flamethrower for the mission, but my likely guess is trying to model another flamethrower specifically for this mission will probably be ass to do but probably most likely due to budget for the game.
