Enjoyed your video. Thank you I like the Craftsman’s too. Roper 771’s. Craftsman’s Poulan 3700,3800. No idea why either. But these Solos have gained my interest. Awesome. Take care
That's just the way the brakes are on them, very stiff. To add to your differences, a major one is the piston. Dished in a 651sp, flat top in 651. 2 shoe clutch on 651sp, 3 shoe on 651. Coils are not limited that I'm aware of.
I have a Homelite 290 that I bought a few years ago for cheap from a local secondhand shop. From the research I did about it after I bough it the saw is supposedly a SOLO 647 just in Homelite red casings. The thing is absolutely grody looking so it was obviously a very well loved saw when it was new. It does run, or at least it still did before the pull cord broke. Which I didn't feel like replacing at the time. After finding out it's a SOLO and that finding replacement parts for them is almost near Un-obtainium I also decided to keep it as a backup just-in-case/collector saw. I have a few other older saws as collector units as well. A McCulloch 1-40 & Mini MAC 30, plus a Poulan 2400 Woodmaster, Stihl 026 and a John Deere CS36. I've been in the process of getting the Stihl 026 going, it'll pop off with a little gas down the cylinder so the coil is good. But it's missing the gas tank vent, the carb is possibly going to need a rebuild, both tank caps need new seals and it needs a new air filter. The ones on it are rock hard and formed into shape. The CS36 runs like a top when running but doesn't want to run for long and the tank wizzes gas when you lay it on its' side. So it's probably in need of new fuel lines. My Stihl MS251 is my main saw so these not running isn't really a problem. But it's nice to have extras that do. I'm also in the process of shopping around for a much bigger saw so I might get one of the NEOTEC clones as a cheap addition.
😁, my wife thought it was a great idea 2 inform me(CHS Sufferer) there was an auction w/ possibly some saws there and she was correct, God bless this woman! Some were sold in lots
Would be cool if you could slap a modded muffler on there see if it seems any more stout .! Cool addition to the collection. Exclusive decals are worth it long as they stay exclusive.!!!
I had that exact saw but in Yellow. It was badged for DR. The company that makes outdoor power equipment. you probably saw it in Brennans collection. I knew it was going to a good home.
Another difference is, I believe the 651sp came with a spur sprocket and the 651 had the rim sprocket. I recently picked up a project Solo 651sp and haven't had a chance to mess with it yet.
Solo is a different cat. Pretty good saw, just a little different. Kinda the Echo of Germany. Now you can get a Homelite Solo so you can mix and match parts.
I have one of these sold under the Lesco name as their 5150 its dark green. Once you shitcan the stock restrictive muffler they run well. I may port mine. They are a torqey saw in stock form. I wish rebuild parts were more readily available. Get used to the sometimes recoil starter. Theyres no real fix. Its temperature sensitive too. Mine has a single line inlet Walbro carb. Im interested in seeing how it will perform if ported. I dont really like Stihls, I love fat girls and one off saw brands like Olympyk, Effco, Dolmar and I have a 15000 rpm full tilt Poulan Wood Shark stratto..
@@timberslasher4899 hey u can say whatever u want about the Walmarts but down cheer we don't take to kindly to the poulan bashin! U might as well be making fun of Moses beard!
I don’t understand when you say you like craftsman chainsaws? Don’t craftsman get other chainsaw manufacturers to make there saws? Like Poulan is made by husqvarna? Please I’m just asking. If so you like the manufacturer who made the craftsman chainsaw. I believe Poulan and craftsman had some saw that where identical except for color?
It is what it is, somethings just tickle you a little more than others! The SOLOs like this are red and or yellow but not as rare and cool IMO as the Craftsman branded ones. Electrolux bought out most saw manufacturers starting in the late 70s, from what I remember. CHS can make you do crazy💩😁
I have a work area in my yard under our big oak, had an Echo chainbreak explosion while I was doing some maintenance/cleaning. Found the last piece I lost after about 2 months of sporadically looking, rain helped me out. Awesome 4 you 2 give Evan a shout out👍🆙🐊
If what some has said here that the difference is a cupped piston vs a regular piston then that is the same thing Husqvarna did with the 261 & 262xp! They put a really thick cylinder gasket and cupped piston to bring down the compression and make it milder. Change to a 262 piston put a thinner gasket and you have a 262xp!
They call the 651sp the consumerized version of the 651. Horsepower ratings for both are 4 hp. Not sure what the differences are besides one having a rim sprocket and the other a spur sprocket. Surely, that's not the only difference between the two.
Have you done anything w/ this saw? I forgot about it until my wife mentioned an auction close 2 us and soon as i seen it from a distance i knew exactly what she was! She came home w/ me along w/ a dozen others🙄😬🤐😁
Theres times when i get a saw and take the heat gun out and remove every sticker off a saw. Why? Dont know other then i just dont like them . Kinda the same way i dont like BIG chunks of tomatoes in my chilly.
Proof me wrong mate, but it looks like someone mixed dolmar 550 with a 262... like the company who makes dolmar (ish) saws since dolmar is out of business... i think the brand was "hecht". Theyre saws look like they mixed dolmars with something else 🤔
lmao "open port pro grade" nothing about open ports are pro. I only consider closed ports "pro grade". also color on grease, oil or locktight doesn't mean anything.
