This is the way (Mandalorian joke, but not), I have even written this into my will. The older I get the more I belive in the old gods. I did the DNA- test, funny thing, I am so Nordic that is it almost a joke. I love humanity. Like Mandalorian it is not about blood, it is about will. Mandalorian is a Creed. Like how I love Aurora, my Creed to her is absolute. Live your life :-)

I post my comment again, cause it was partly erased for some reason: "Hi Mace, loved your reaction and the fact that you wanted to give the song a second listen. It has taken me some time to fully appreciate this song and its lyrics. In my mind it's a masterpiece!!! I think it's both about imaginary "soulless creatures" the evil forces that operate in the universe, and (at a more realistic level) about soulless people in interpersonal or intimate relationships. I like the idea of the soulless lover asking: "Give me a piece of your heart...Give me a piece of your hands as we go" (the original lyrics) until the other person loses himself/herself and has nothing left to give."

As far I know, this song is about a letter from Gaia (mother Earth) to humans. A Different Kind of Human (Step 2) is a concept album, so the songs must be seen in context, The Seed, Apple Tree, Soulesss creatures and so on.

It's at least in part about humans and what they are doing to the planet. Her first live performance of this song! Mesmerizing! Here are the lyrics: Soulless Creatures
Never knew this curious head of mine
Never knew what's love if kept inside
Nothing but an endless, empty heart
Like laying in the sea within the dark
Give me a piece of your heart, of your heart
Give me a piece of your hands as we go
    I wouldn't mind if I can't find, I can't find
    Anything to save our kind
All the pieces of my body gone
Look at me now and tell me how I feel inside
Every piece that I lost, I have loved
Calm, I wander after dawn restores
Waiting for the world to turn once more
Listening to the deep magnetic sound
Hunting for a victim, lying down
Come back to me, after peace restores
    soulless creatures
Feel some hearts, I wouldn't lie
I've got memories that travel my mind
    Fear not, fear not
    When you go,
I've got pieces of your hate in my soul
Look at me now (look at me now)
    I'm falling apart in daylight
All the pieces that I've lost, I have loved
Eh eh ah, eh eh ah, oh eh ah, oh
Eh eh ah, eh eh ah, oh eh ah
Eh eh ah, eh eh ah, oh eh ah
    Ah
    Eh yeah, oh, oi ah
    Eh yeah, oh, oi ah
    Eh yeah, eh yeah oh
    I wouldn't mind if I can't find, I can't find
    Anything to save our kind
All the pieces of my body gone
Look at me now (look at me now)
    I'm falling apart in daylight
All the pieces that I lost, I have loved
Look at me now (look at me now)
I gave both parts of me
I gave both parts of me
I give both parts of me, oh

This is a very beautiful song and these words ...... the hurt of emptyness.........our hope of something better ...... the.hate....
Aurora is the Best............we're lucky she's around, all the pieces that I've lost are lost I gave both parts of me
She is unique, she talks to you directly..same with me....with every one and it hits you personally, intimately.....she does that

For me soulless creatures is a bit about mental health and about humanity and empathy in general. The first part is from the perspective of the individual, I like to imagine it as a person returning to consciousness or gaining awareness of something they once were not aware of, a conversation with self. From " give me a piece of your heart" The view changes and is like an awakening to a more social and empathetic standpoint. This person has now realized the love/care/ or soul is missing from their being, and another is now reaching out to help them, but this act of reaching out to help/ to be empathetic is not an easy thing in a world of soulless creatures, because, you were a cup you're pouring out, but there's no guarantee that you'll receive back to fill in what you gave. In this selfish world of pleasure and self preservation, why would one person do something so reckless and put themselves on the line to help others when there is nothing to be gained and when it just makes you more open to being back stabbed? Most people would think such a person is foolish but the song answers the question with the lines. "Look at me now, don't tell me how I feel inside, every piece that I've lost I have loved." I think the perspective then goes to an overarching higher being's perspective with " Come my wonders after dawn restores" Which is calling/gathering those who have awakened empathy and is warning them of the enemy that seeks destruction of humanity. She then turns to those who have not been able to awaken empathy and are still cold hearted and afraid and she lends empathy to their situation. She cannot save them, but she understands their plight and will remember them. Quite a few parallels with end times..

I think this song is about the earth trying to convey to humans the bad things we have done.
For next reactions I’d suggest Infections of a Different Kind live at HAIK and the follow up song A Different Kind of Human live at Christines Radiofestival.

"It´s an interest thing that´s going on there". Bro, I literally made an entire theory connecting all of her music. There´s a lot of little universes over there, hidden meanings, you just have so much to talk about. If you think about the rest of the EP, full of hope, this song is my favorite because it´s a breakdown point. You can try all you want to become a different kind of human (the entire concept of this journey) but you´d have to know how hard it would be, how painful. World is a painful place to live in, but you must not lose your hope. That doesn´t mean you´re not allowed to feel angry or dissapointed about it, and, to me, that´s the importance of this song in the middle of this emotional journey.

From a human perspective, perhaps loss of innocence and empathy for all life. For a natural view, a world slowly losing its ability to sustain life, through exploitation and destruction of both land and water resources by humans in positions of power (soulless creatures) who lack a conservation ethic or a humanitarian ethic. Beautiful song, complicated lyrics!

  • @willywonkasamekindasaurora5536

To me this song is about loosing your childish mind piece by piece to the harsh realities of the world both on a global level and human relations level. It's in much contrast to her song "Through the Eyes of a Child" where she sings about preferring to see the world through the eyes of a child, i.e. not knowing.

I don't get the lyrics also. It is very complicated. But, as often with Auroras songs, I have the feeling it is about the borders between life and death and other human beings. That we are all bound together through a spiritual realm. And here it is like someone is giving away parts of her body, her soul to enrich others, who are empty. Trying to save them. And this giving made her empty, nothing to give is left. I feel, that this is the moment she passes by, from this reality to another. Maybe from life to death. And while giving everything (like a saviour) and dying there is no regrets... only love, no fear. Only peace... but maybe I am wrong...
