What about bering gear? Is it that bad that it isnt even on the list?
Can someone pls read my comment
@@sethgaskin9542 no
Come one yammer taichi gear is not a S , it is A .. doesn’t look so good
GSXR 1000, tank top, camo shorts, vans shoes, and a bicycle helmet
You die, you die- never die halfway.
Vans?? Flip flops bro
S tier for sure. S for squid.
Turbo busa bro
Sure! What could happen?
Besides, death is better than steering your wheelchair with a stick strapped to your head, right?
Can't drop other brands down for being limited in gear lines and then give RS Taichi ''S'' which yourself claim is limited.
Was thinking the same thing
Also never heard of the brand and there are a lot of well known brands that weren't brought up..
Yeah or maybe just maybe this is a list of personal preferences and he does not like adventure or café racer gear, but is really into track gear....
Try RS taichi and then open ur mouths
@@pravesh736 You clearly missed the point. I'm not doubting the quality in the least bit. I'm pointing out the fact that other brands were knocked down for only catering to certain riding styles and this wasn't. hypocritical with the ratings if you will.
Take it from someone who works for the US importer of Taichi that stuff rivals Astars and Dainese. Just because they don't have a huge marketing presence like Icon here in the US doesn't automatically mean they are bad.
This tier list gets a B rating - B for biased ;)
Isn’t klim pronounced climb?
I'm almost 100% certain that you are correct. That is what I was told by the rep when I purchased my original Badlands Pro jacket. Still waterproof after a 45 mph slide with pavement.
Yes......yes it is.
Sorry to be captain obvious, but I suspect he pronounced it incorrectly on purpose to get on Klim snobs' nerves
IKR?
@@hvymtal8566 you give yam too much credit. He doesn't know a lot of things that he should probably know if he's gonna have a motorcycle channel but what can you do?
Helmet tier list? Ive heard a lot of good things about those 6D lids.
i'm heavely inclined to the AGV K3 because of the internal sun visor, and i need a big brand couse in my country (Brazil)
we don't have all models
@@deluccs2592 I Have a Shoei RF1200 its a great helmet IMO.
Waiting for helmet tier list
Me too! I like Bell. Always have. Make fun of me. But, I like I can see a sledge test against 5 points of impact.
6'8" tall here. Unfortunately Bilt was the only non-custom order jacket with a proper fit in XLT. If it's all you can fit or find, it's better than a Puma track suit. Who am I kidding? Life goals turbo busa with matching Puma track suit.
So i had a buddy that worked at cyclegear. He said the bilt jackets are solid (add legit back plate). I got wrecked wearing mine. The bilt max speed. I had no damage to my upper torso. So the jacket worked. Gloves, helmet? Hell no. I do have bilt boots because i dont do heavy riding and they are comfortable. I may get racing boots one day, but their sizing tends to be way off
Alpinestars is completely S tier and you forgot to mention Aerostitch if you can afford $1100 for a rain suit they are the best💢
What about scorpion? They make good gear that won't break your bank
I was wondering this as well. Love my helmet from them, and got a jacket as well. I think they're great bang for buck and pretty stylish to boot
I got the Scorpion SGS MK II Gloves and when I stacked going 35MPH they held up great. Still using them today. Plus they look awesome :P
Best bang for the buck. Take it from someone who works in a gear shop that ISN'T Cyclegear.
Exo-R2000 saved my life at 80mph
I honestly thought about Scorpion too. I think it'd be like an A/B tier... But this is Papa Yam's listen. Soooooooooo
Lots of unknown brands lots of major brands left out :/ Rukka, RST, Daytona, Bering, IXS, Oxford, Spidi, BKS and many others even i'm forgetting are all at least A tier or higher, with RST being especially amazing value for money, Incredibly good construction, very high safety standards and is exceptionally cheap, 200$ for a leather jacket that probably beats some higher priced Alpine or Dainese stuff
I’ve been wearing rst’s tractech evo 3 boots for a year, and they’re absolutely amazing.
Tbh, Rev'it! is an S tier. Their stuff is brilliant in every way.
Agreed. Love my Revit gloves
Fully agree! Rev'it's gloves are currently the best on the market and their leather suits hold up to Dainese easily.
Yep Rev'it has some of the most comfortable armor too and it will save you. I went down at 60 in all revit street jacket and rev'it riding jeans and I was pleased with the performance and protection I bought it again.
Agreed. Got the Ignition and Traction Jackets and they're both excellent.
Nobody is making anything close to how badass and how good looking the Revit quantum air jacket/suit is! I love it.
I would rate Joe Rocket as a C tier brand. My Atomic 5.0 jacket is excellent since I put a Forcefield back protector in. Speaking of which, are you going to make a tier video for armor? Forcefield would be S tier for sure. Good video as always Yammie.
This gear saved my life. At about 80 mph I put my bike down into a guard rail. And was able to stand up and walk away unscathed other than a minor fracture in my left wrist due to "breaking" my fall when I put my arms out. I am grateful everyday. I will be back on two wheels in a month. My setup was:
Helmet: scorpion exo r2000 - $250ish
Jacket: Sedici Niccolo Leather Jacket - $300ish
Gloves: my sedici Castro gloves were not with me at the time so I borrowed a pair of cheap coretecs and that was shitty going down in. Dont leave your better gloves at home
Pants: Bull-It sr6 sidewinder - onsale for $90ish (I think full price is around $180)
Shoes: Alpinestars sektor - $170ish(?)
P.s. I see you've labeled sedici rather low on your list but let me say that my jacket was one of the nicest looking things coming out of this wreck. Even good enough that I have rode with it since. Full leather is full leather. You get what you pay for.
thekiddtaylor I know this is late, but I wanted to comment as another person who crashed in Sedici and came out OK! Low sided at 30mph around a corner, bike was on top of my leg (knee protector saved my leg) and only got scratched up because I had the right vent open of the wrist all the way. Had on Sedici Diego jacket, pants, gloves, and boots. Everything came out good enough to where I still ride in it!
SO glad to hear my Rev'it stuff is considered good! I didn't know how good when I bought it, just that it fit so well. Thanks Yams!
CanineMinefield same!
I can highly recommend joe rocket armored leather jackets (can’t remember which specific one I own). I went down going 50, anything that jacket was covering came out without a scratch, can’t say the same for my legs but nbd.
My first ridding jacket was a Joe Rocket, purchased in 2005 and it’s still intact after going down. No holes no broken zippers. Maybe their new stuff is bad but my old jacket has been great.
I can safely recommend Rev It jackets for the street I have one and I can’t fault it
Arai, Sidi, Aerostich... I like the idea of doing one thing exceptionally well.
Yo, I was hoping to see where Harley gear would fall on this list. I saw it in the thumbnail, so what is this? Clickbait? From yammie noob? Haha, JK
Not JK. Definitely some fuckery going on.
As a Harley rider (saving up for a MVA BOIIIIIII) I personally thing most HD Gear is great. Just their lids are trash. I'd rate them B or C tier because of the obvious lack of diversity.
i took the msf course at the harley dealership and checked out their gear... alpinestars/dianese prices for bilt level quality. complete garbage
The problem with a lot of Harley gear I've seen is that they're just rebranded gear. I started noticing when I saw a modular helmet that was an HJC IS-Max 2 with a Harley logo on it
@@BeastMode1210 gotta disagree with you. Most of their gear is made by name brand manufacturers.
Yams has wisdom. I laid my bike down at like 25 mph in a Bilt jacket and it shredded instantly. Spend the extra money and get nice gear. Get something like a Rev’it or Alpinestars
Thank for you for the recommendations Papa Yam!
Just spent like 2 weeks painstakingly researching gear to get the best value and most protection for my first gear set. Without even realizing it I ended up getting alpine stars boots, gloves, pants, and jacket and an arai helmet. I look like an AS fanboy but couldn't be happier with all of it. ESPECIALLY the boots, goddamn. They're the most comfortable and best fitting pair of boots I've ever worn (corozals).
I'm doing the same thing right now except I'm almost going full icon gear
So I actually like Joe Rocket but I am biased. I'm a new rider of only 12 weeks and went down high side getting off a parkway (lessons learned). My Joe Rocket jacket took the impact like a pro. I was able to get up and drive home. Also, ATGATT with Alpine boots and gloves.
Love the channel, keep it up!
Artamis Light I fell years ago and Joe Rocket jacket kept me safe too. 💪🏾
Real late on this but I had a friend wearing a joe rocket jacket and went down going about 3mph at the msf and broke his elbow bad enough to have surgery
Now he sells a Speed and Strength helmet on his site
Alpinestars would definetly make for category S in my opinion. Being as good as dainese as i have experienced.
What about "Fox"?
@@clarencewilliamsperturbed7240 what about them? They don’t make motorcycle gear.
@@micahroberts4481 um... they do. I own Fox gear.
Lol most Alpinestars Gear did not score very good in the most recent tests ice read. While being very expensive, they werent up with the best in any category
Alpinestars, Dainese and Icon are always the 3 manufacturers I recommend. Always a good product and they always stand behind their products. You have a problem, they fix it.
I'd add rev'it! as well
Just to let you know, klim is pronounced like climb
Wait til he learns how to pronounce Ewan!
@@mayorofnow Now that's funny!!!
Bruhhh, that misleading thumbnail though LOL.
It's funny how biased your "tier" lists are. Klim makes high quality gear. That's why it's so expensive, way better than Icon at least. C'mon Scammie Newb, a little more research
Klim isn't that great my little yam. High price does not equal high quality. Now go out and upgrade your low teir shit before someone sees you riding in that crap.
Alpinestars is literally the same as dainese just different looks i have both and feel more badass on my alpinestars than my dainese
@@Slabri LoL I don't own any Klim gear, just saying.
Klim is expensive because it's quality and has it were it counts but is for sure more ADV oriented.
He said Klim was lower on the list because they only really make ADV gear.
TFW AGV is made by Dainese. Also, I have Klim pants for trail riding and they’re probably the best I’ve worn for that purpose. If it was an off-road tied list they’d be comfortable in A-tier but because they basically do nothing for street riding, I totally agree.
Disappointed in your Klim rating Yamster. Their quality is on par with Alpinestar.
I agree with you, B tier at least, in fact, I say swap Icon with Klim, icon doesn't disserve such a high rank, I'm not saying it's not decent gear.
Klim is definitely up there
This dude yannie n00b talks alot of crap guys.
@@DShort1088 Yea Klim should be A tier for it's tech, B for their targeting group. Icon does deserve B tier, they are so diverse and help every type of rider out with innovative new things. Their helmets aren't worthy of B tier tho
I have a Klim jacket and Astars boots and gloves, both are awesome quality. A tier fo sho
Yam strikes back great content man
Great job to the editor. Well done
Loving the new style of dankness
I have a carbon strada helmet from Sedici and it’s actually good quality, very quiet and lots of features. Very lightweight too because of the carbon. Not sure why they get such a bad rap
Is it true if you buy a Harley you don’t have to wear gear ? Just curious before I buy my first bike
100% true.
When I started in motorcycling (about 2 years ago), I got some ok gear. Last fall I bought a Dainese jacket and I love that thing. Dainese will currently be an S Tier brand in my book.
Klim is really great. It is a bit expensive I guess but tbh they make super safe stuff.
Klim makes some of the best offroad gear available. Not familiar with thier road gear
I’m a beginner. Alpinestars appeared to be the most recognized gear brand, so everything I bought happened to be Alpinestars !
I have a Klim Induction jacket and it’s a great product that isn’t really for ADV or off-road riding
I always get Triumph ads when watching yammie's videos. Getting closer to that long awaited sponsorship bois !
I was expecting to see some scorpion on the list. I would rank Joe Rocket higher, even though they don't have their own race R&D they still advance. I have owned a Joe jacket for 6 years and it still looks and feels brand new.
Alpinestars also makes some quality mtb protection so they are of course top tier!
And their hoodies are top titty
I have a sedici and a alpine stars full one piece track suit and they are not far apart at all I was actually quite surprised with the sedici suit on their quality
the piano was so good I slept during my work break and woke up 2 hours later
I like my Icon jacket and pants. They do their thing well. I do have some Dainese shin/knee guards I use in place of armoured knee pads in my pants. The extra protection on the shin has already helped me avoid getting dinged by stray rocks at least once or twice. I like 'em.
I have to say pretty accurate, but when I wrecked last weekend, I was wearing a Sedici jacket with Alpinestar gloves, my jacket took most of the impact and barely scuffed it, the alpinestar gloves on the other hand ripped to pieces and eat my hands and wrists to pieces. Just saying, sometimes just because it’s expensive and has all the “hype” doesn’t mean it’s the best.
This. Each motorcycle gear brand has good and bad products. I guess your could say which brand has the most good products on average, but I'd never buy without checking longer-term reviews. So hit-and-muss. (For that matter, I've had some Bilt and Sedici that's great!)
@@TravisTerrell Does Alpinestars make better boots than gloves?
You forgot Furygan.
A French brand around the same price and quality of Dainese, with a wider selection.
Wider selection? Where? Not in the US. I'd like to get a Furygan track suit but no option in US and can't figure out where in Europe to get one.
I have no problem with my Joe Rocket Resistor jacket. Thing feels light and has a great amount of airflow. Threw the level 2 hard armor in the back and it comes with ce rated shoulder and elbow armor. I do 50 miles round trip per day to work and I love it
I've had pieces of all the major brands, and agree with you. Back in early 2000's I had a lot of joe rocket. I'm surprised it is so stagnant in the modern era.
Yammster giving up on that Triumph sponsor and going after Dainese.
I see you....
😂 the way your pronunciation of KLIM was classic! 😂😂😂. It’s not “Clem” as in “Kadiddlehopper.” I have always heard it pronounced like the word “climb,” without the “b” sound. But it’s okay Papa Yam Ham, you say it anyway you want. Excellent video.
J T You can see the accent mark over the i too 😔
Fullface helmet, camo shorts, dryfit t-shirt, flip-flops.....that's the island rider way bradah :D
I buy Bilt and I have found nothing but quality. My Bilt jacket is warm during winter and cool in summer with the ability to add better padding
Joe rocket gear kept my ass scratchless in a 75-80 mph slide just a couple weeks ago, you done them dirty
This piano-music in the background xD
Hey I missed the follwing brands IXS, Furygan, Rukka, Dane, Difi, Bering and Maccna.. are these also available in the USA?
Sorry my man. The Americans hasnt yet had a chance to fully appreciate the *European Finesse* in brands like Rukka and Dane.
I just found the brand who makes the perfect Kevlar jeans! John Doe. It's amazing!
My 3 levels :
Jeans , Pendleton , hiking boots.
Sweats , tee shirt ,Sneekers
Shorts , tanktop , flipflops.
I was one of those who used to say "uh whats the point of getting a £600 fancy helmet when you can get one that passes the safety standards for like £100".
This all changed when i tried one on and saw what i was missing, and i soon bought an Arai.
For your weekend warrior or good weather rider, you really dont need that half a grand Arai, but for people like me who commutes to and from work daily, all year round in rain, snow, ice, galeforce winds and heatwaves, you want a premium helmet like an Arai.
You dont need one, but theyre just so comfortable and a pleasant experience to wear, and it just makes commuting more enjoyable and helps you concentrate more..
thank you yam
Love my RSD jacket. Soft and supple straight of the rack. Expensive yes, but you can't complain about the quality. Besides, everyone needs a jacket with a gold satin liner at least once in their lifetime. :)
Is all it's f-tierness 😆, my Bilt jacket (first jacket) did in fact save my skin when I went down when I was just starting out. Better than nothing, that's for sure.
I thought CORTECH should've been in there somewhere.
I use
revit (gloves)
Alpinestars (pants and jacket stage 2 with chest and back guard)
Dainese (boots)
Totally agree with your list
More of these videos please!
Id probably switch Klim and Icon for a couple items but overall pretty spot on.
Exactly what I was thinking.
K A Fair enough. I actually like my Klim riding jeans and dislike my Icon Boots. That said I won’t purchase either again.
Alpinestars FTW!!! Klim should have been in the A tier and Motoport should have been S tier. I'm not into Dianese just because of their logo but that's a personal thing; their gear is high quality for sure.
Happy with my REV'IT gear!!
I started wearing alpinestar but i got some.hand me down dainese gloves and i was like wow. My favorite 3 are dainese icon and alpine. I agree with u on this chart. Some brands i never heard of.
Yam what about RST?! Think they're a really solid brand I use a lot of their stuff and never had an issue- might be a tiny over market price though
Wouldve liked to see more in depth with brands like, bell, simpson, scorpion, etc. since most noobs only wear helmets anyways on their gxsr 1000. Pretty accurate with the gear list however.
Better see you going on dirt with your pretty tomorrow.... I'm not going back but grew up doing it and I think you'll love it
I rock Icon myself. Been happy with their stuff. Bought a set of alpinestars gloves a couple years ago that fell apart almost immediately which shocked me but I figure I just got a pair that was made at the end of the day on a friday
You forgot about Spidi definitely a brand to check out.
Can you do this list again because I wonder where you would rank brands like: Richa, Macna, IXS, Bering, Held, Segura, etc. As a Dutch person, I of course love to hear you ranked Rev It high up. But that's beside the point.
The list omits various high-quality European brands
Sedici helmets come with 2015 Snell ratings, prima strada which I own and s&s twist of fate jacket ( with d3o amour shoulders and elbows and and alpinestars krc stand alone) revit jerez gloves also sidi boots , guess what I am saying pick your pieces and look for quality in your choice from any brand, always good videos bro stay cool and keep the gouch juices to a minimum
I have both low end and high end gear. My Built sneakers for $50 fell apart in 1 month from just regular riding. My Dainese sneakers have held up for over a year now and still in good shape. My Sedici jacket has held up well for over a year now
I think Klīm is pronounced "Climb" due to the "long" i (ī is "eye"). It would make sense to being a gear maker aimed at ADV riders.
You should RST as a brand .. they do TT riders gear.. would be nice to see a piece on this unknown brand
I got rst boots and gloves and tbh for the price they're awesome
My ankle and arm would be smashed to bits if I didnt have rst gear
RST is awsome kit!
RST is awsome stuff!!!
I was waiting the whole vid for him to do Ixon and RST
I upgraded from a Sedici Strada Carbon helmet to a Shoei RF-1200. The Shoei felt better, but it wasn’t a mind blowing difference. The Strada Carbon was much lighter on my head and the interior parts were just as comfortable.
Especially with their new carbon helmets coming out, they are snell rated. I’m not so sure on their other gear but their snell helmets are a great budget option for maximum safety.
My wife has a strada 2 helmet, and she loves it.
Dainese does make the best jackets, never been hot or cold in their leather.
You really should have mentioned the RST , it's arguably an A or even S tier brand for the price of C or D brands . TT races ... enough said .
My $40 bilt gloves held up wayyyy longer than my $100+ alpinestars gloves
Yeah not sure why people knock the cheap stuff and assume it’s all around junk. IMO they hold up great and some of them can be found with great features for incredibly cheap. And you can upgrade the armor if necessary.
@@michaelm.3641 I also got a bilt jacket from cycle gear came with elbow and shoulder pads and I added in a D30 back protector. Costed $150 total. Would protect me just as well as a $550 alpinestars jacket. Sometimes I think CZcamsrs just have deals with companies to promote their overpriced garbage. I’ll gladly buy the “Costco brand” gear and make adjustments where needed.
i personally put alpinestars & dainese on s tier. I have a dainese jacket & apstars boots & I love them both. super comfy & solid protection. I also think icon is A tier. just my opinion cool breeze!!
RevIt airwave and RSD Walker leather. Best purchases I've made for riding in the last five years.
no cortech on this list? i love their jackets.
me watching this after being happy i got my bilt gloves on sale for $30 👁👄👁
Absolutely love the Tier episodes. Please do 600cc tier, 1000cc tier
I love icon gear, it just always lands within my taste and pricing is reasonable.
Alpinestars is most definitely S teir. The tech-air system is worlds ahead of the D-air system.
Wtf
Revit, Dainese and RS Taichi are definitely S grade.
Include 4SR next, they're doing fantastic things.
Klim with Forcefield armour is S grade as well.
I have to say if someone is looking for an affordable track suit agvsport is solid. I low sided at the track at 70 mph and my agvsport suit held up great. All it needed was a dusting off and I still rock it to this day. Do recommend 👍
Finally, a tier list I can agree with
Scorpion? They make everything and the stuff they make is race quality but surprisingly cheap
I had scorpion all weather rain pants and they were FUCKING BRILLIANT. 2 hour rise in pouring rain and not even moist. Would buy again.
@@andypants1000 could u tell me what model and where did u buy them from thx
@@wilsmith9230 I bought them at a motorcycle show, and it was going on 9 years ago now and I sold the pants when I moved, so I cannot recall sorry.
@@andypants1000 thx anyway I want t9 get a motorcycle ANF I have a few questions. If I wear a leather jacket and it rains outside and I put a regular rain jacket over it will it leak. My longest rides would be 2 hours max
@@wilsmith9230 depends on the fit and the gear, as well as how heavy the rain is. I wore commuter gear that was waterproof from top to bottom for commuting and leather gear for fun days. I just found it easier than carrying separate rain gear.
I was curious about some specific brands but none of those appear on this list: Rukka, Richa, Spada, Oxford.
Are they not generally European brands like RST, I have RST leathers and boots just as good as dainese.
I like Speed and Strength, their stuff keeps me comfortable and safe. I also have a BiLT helmet and jacket that work great.
Just bought an RST AdventureX suit and i'm very happy with it. Thought RST might have been on this list
Alpinestars is obviously top tier
Nah. They are okay but oberpriced for the Medium quality they offer.
@@haterboy4740 fair enough
I believe Speed and Strength being in the E tier is accurate for 99% of their products but they do make 1 jacket that's the best sub-300$ jacket. The Hammer Down textile jacket, I own 3 of them currently and I own the predecessor which was the Drop Dead Center (I've owned it for 7 years and still works amazingly). The Hammer Down jacket is one of the only sub-300$ jackets that comes with CE armour in elbows, shoulders, and SPINE.
I like that icon says that. I ride on the streets and really don't care about motogp, Rossi or any of that crap. Maybe my next gears should be icon.
Going to search what they have, thanks Yammie
