In the first part of a series on motion graphics in Blackmagic Fusion, we look at using the 3D environment to create some interesting map animations! This is a basic tutorial intended to equip you with the tools to make even more complex animations.

NICE. Consider us impressed!
Hah! That's deeply appreciated! I just love how enthused Johnny gets about maps. I feel the same about them :). Love your work!
came from reddit, instant sub once you mentioned leaving after effects subscription behind haha. Been using AE for quite some time and its the last thing holding me in adobe land.
Certainly one of the best videos regarding fusion with a bit of advanced features 😅
@12:29 "kinda go in without a plan"...perfect! Great content once again!
Subbed and shared on reddit - this is absolute gold
Thanks!
Thanks a lot.......Pure Goldmine for beginner like me🎉🎉❤
Impressive stuff.
Splines in Fusion are kinda weird but if you're used to any proper 3D program, they are a godsend versus any NLE or even AE. AE's curves always look AE, they are not particularly precise unless you are in value mode and even then it's not really anything close to the precision of Maya animation curves. Fusion is much closer with a bunch of quirks like overshoot because the Bezier handles are not horizontal on all parameters when you choose quick smooth. Easy enough to fix up. I still don't know the hotkey if there is one to lock or snap the handles to horizontal. That would be nice to know to save on trial and error time. Nevertheless, this is the way animation curves should be done.
I'm a simple man. When I see a channel who loves MAPS and ANIMATION, I sub.
It ain't much but it's honest work.
Love you bro
Quick question, under Renderer 3D you switch the Renderer Type to OpenGL. I'm not seeing those options. I see Software Renderer (default) and Hardware Renderer and Hardware UV Renderer. Not sure if it matters but I'm using a Mac. Any suggestions? Thanks a bunch for this vid. Really great stuf.
Nice Video. All essential functions for those kind of projects explained.
Stuff that is still a mess and missing in Fusions 3D that nearly every other program has.
Object based automatic focal plane locking
Ambient Occlusion workflow is hell. (AO in Fusion is via a process AFTER Render-Node and with Aux-Channels. It is slow as f*** as well)
Shortkey based object and camera ajustment.
Fusion is an incredible good compositor for already rendered footage. And very fast and nice for 2D. But not the most pleasant for 3D workflow.
So I switched to Blender for those steps.
Agreed! Blender absolutely nails it when it comes to 3D navigation. I found myself a little discouraged when I didn't have the ability to just choose a focus object in Fusion and needed to adjust the focal plane manually.
It makes me wonder if there's a better camera out there for Fusion. If there isn't, someone could probably make a killing selling a plug-in like that.
didi we you imagine in the fastnoise in Davinci resole 18
Did this work with DaVinci Resolve 18
It certainly should!
Can we do it in free version..?
LONG FORM OF VIDEOS.. INSTA SUBS
2: 31 In and I have suscribed. I feel like when you go to the movies and you know it is going to be a good one. Let`s see.
can you make more
Absolutely!
Interesting video. You do not state what version you are using. The you just right click, or pop ion and out of views and selections without describing step by step. Very are to follow exactly how you are doing things. Move to fast, popping in and out is hard has hell to follow along. I could not figure out using 18.6 how to biforcate a map so half is above the grid and half is under the grid. It layed on top and I could not do any of what you aere doing. Need to slow down. Explain exactly, use menus and drop downs from there real world locations. Cool video, just very frustrating to replicate.
I actually moved to After Effects from Resolve to gain access to Geolayers. This is interesting to see though.
I will never support a company like geolayers that only make their stuff available to adobe AE.
disgusting.
