Which chest protector should I go with? And what is your favourite stick?
Ccm premier 2.9 stick is amazing in my opinion
The Puck Stops Here, Whoa! Fellow Model 3 owner!! 👋🏻
Heard a lot of great things about Warrior lately. Definitely gonna try them next time around.
I use a Bauer 2S stick and a Vaughn VE8 chesty, I don’t feel a thing with it, and the stick is amazing as well :)
Like i said in the other video... Go with warrior. I just feel like they last longer and already feel broken in. My stick choice would the warrior cr2 or cr3. Or the ccm premier line is nice as well.
I really like the x700 sticks from Bauer. I can only imagine how much better they are the more you go up
My current stick is a Warrior Ritual CR2
I'm using a warrior cr1 mrazek curve 26' paddle and I love it feels so sturdy not the lightest stick but is a light stick compared to foam core the only thing I'd change is more grip on the handle also give piranha pegs a shot if you hate you post popping off
Ethan Corner I like the idea of a rubber grip on the handle of the stick. I don’t tape it there so that would be good. And they just got some piranha pegs for the leauge so I am quite excited to try them out!
I have the Warrior Ritual G4 and I love it. You don’t have to break it in at all when you step onto the ice and it feels like a Protecter you’ve had for years. No problems with it
Don’t get the one with the plastic get the one that was under the one you picked out.
Yes
I like using the infinity goalie sticks. The sizing is a little different but a 27 inch would be like a 29 inch for infinity goalie
Libor Gallik oh wow. I didn’t know they were that different in sizing. Wow. Good to know!
I had an older true composite, it was the lightest stick I ever owned. It was literally the best stick, I loved it. Its so much easier to move around and get from side to side with it, you don't know the difference a lighter stick makes until you try it. Only drawback was that it broke after someone crashed the net, a bulkier stick would have probably held up better.
That’s awesome to hear except for it getting broken. How long did you have it for before it broke? And what part of the stick broke?
@@ThePuckStopsHere I actually had it for a good 5 months, but it surprisingly broke on the paddle, about 5 inches above the heel. It probably break more easily than any other composite.
I see. That sucks but I guess there is always a compromise between weight and durability. Can have the lightest stick and expect it to last the longest. But I wonder if that player didn’t crash the net, how much longer it would have lasted.
I rock a Passau Chest pad and use Warrior Swagger and Abyss. Love the Swagger and Passau.
Yeah? Do you mind me asking how much the Passau was? I keep hearing a lot of good things about them
@The Puck Stops Here
I got mine used for $200 and it is a gen 1 body with gen 2 arms. So far it has been amazing. Going on my second year with it.
Ken Walsh wow, that’s an amazing deal you got. Maybe I’ll look for some used ones too
Currently using an SLR pro chesty, 300 bucks and it's survived ACHA and B league with minimal stingers. Great bang for your buck chesty. And also for sticks go with the Bauer 2S. It's hella durable, and lasts WAY longer than the 2S pro
DeathByTheFox $300 for a good chesty sounds awesome. And yeah, the 2S Pro doesn’t look like it will last long. I’m skeptical about using it.
I use a Vaughn V7 XF Pro Carbon. The thing is a tank and comes pretty much broken in. 1 ice time and I was good to go. Also the Bauer 2S Pro stick is an unreal stick.
I’ve heard a lot about this pro carbon. I really need to check it out before I make my decision 👍 and the 2S looks and feels good, but I’m still very sceptical on the durability.
@@ThePuckStopsHere Yeh you should check it out for sure! I had the same concerns regarding durabilty ( mainly due to the spine on the back). I have had mine 2 months so far and I have 5 ice times a week at amatuer level and there is not a scratch so far! The performance is unreal
I like the ccm premier 2 stick and I have the Vaughn v7 chest protector and it’s a great chesty, i recommend it
Yeah? What curve do you have on that stick?
Warrior sticks are great. Lighter, great durability, and good puck handling mobility
I use true for 1 year hasn’t broken yet best stick I have used
How often do you play?
0:32 you should add knots to your pad laces it will stop stem from moving and it will give you more toe mobility if you don’t know what I’m talking about look it up
Love my g4 pro
I have a true 6.0 it’s has held up AA shots for 5 months and i love it
Ty Jones is it still holding up?
yes it is very durable
Ty Jones nice! I’ll look into it. Thanks for the suggestion.
I use that CCM chest protector and it takes a few games to get used to. But great things overall
Which CCM do you use?
The Puck Stops Here my fault the warrior one. They look so much alike
Sammy!!! Go with a composite stick. You’ll never switch back!! And how tall are you?
27” paddle is huge and I find will give you a bigger 7 hole (between the arm and body) when in the butterfly.
I’m roughly 6’ off stakes and use a 25” paddle.
Keep up the great work!! 👍🏼
bigsteed007 I’m 6 ft too. Perhaps I should try a smaller paddle. Never thought of trying anything smaller then 27”. Maybe I should.
Vaughn chestys all the way and I personally use the warrior v1 pro+ it’s a great stick with crazy durability.
my true stick is awesome. i have been using it for 8 months, have probably taken 300 shots off the paddle, and there is no superficial damage
That’s amazing to hear. That sounds pretty durable to me.
@@ThePuckStopsHere it is very durable, has scraped some paint off and a couple like 2 millimetre chips in it, but nothing that effects the integrity
Bauer 2s pro stick p31 curve rock!
I've heard good things about the 2s. :)
If you're not in a hurry to buy i've read a lot of good things about the Kenesky pops pro 1 chest protector
CCM pro flex is amazing. Or if you want to be creative go with the CCM Premiere Pro chest and change the arms on it to the CCM Shield for mobility in the arms.
Jason Dowling yeah? Do they do that?
@@ThePuckStopsHere it would be custom but I'm sure they would
Yeah, I would like to think so too.
I picked up a Warrior R/G4 Sr Chesty and I love it.
Yeah? What do you love most about it?
The Puck Stops Here it’s super adjustable and versatile. I don’t feel shots and can still move pretty well it in. Warrior includes some extra extension pads that can come out allowing it to be suitable for either tucked or untucked.
crazynova23 oh that’s cool about the additional extensions. I like that.
I use a CCM stick
im with the bauer vapor 1s
And how do you like it?
I use a Bauer prodigy p31 (ima squirts goalie and new so it was a good stick for a good price)
I got the warrior G4 pro it is one of the best chestys I have gotten to demo a lot of different ones and it was the better one for me
The stick I am currently using is the 2s pro I don’t recommend it as it splits at the spine pretty easy I’d go with the 1X or Vaughn
Terrance Archie noted on the G4 and yeah, the 2s Pro does look like it would break pretty easily. How long did you have it before it started to split at the spine?
Bauer 1s and Bauer 1x are the best stick on the market rn
Den Sevostyanov yeah? What do you like most about them?
I'm using a CCM P2 crawfort 26 inch
Nice :) how do you like it?
@@ThePuckStopsHere I love the stick going to get one more next year. im also using CCM P2.9 pads with warrior gloves and blocker that I got in November going to switch my glove to a CCM P2 tho. my first set I was using warrior G2s pad glovers and blocker for 3 years the pads wasn't as good as my new CCM P2.9 sliding and kicking pucks out far then ever..
EnTi Fallen you got to tries the glove ccm p2 if you have 300$ more for each glove aha😅 because they are more protect and rebond is more controlled. They are lighters and close easily. I buy it at the beginning of the season this year. They are like the Reebok
I love my glove. I don’t think I would want to switch at this time but good to know for the future 👍
Warrior
For the chesty or sticks?
Now I'm not a goalie (not yet anyways) but from what I've seen on CZcams, No Name Hockey goalie sticks are just like that True stick, but a lot cheaper (I think its like $300 for a 3 pack of sticks)
Thanks for the tip. I haven't tried the No Name Hockey sticks yet. Perhaps I will look into them when I need a new stick.
I have the Warrior G2 Pro (with the plastic arm sliders) and love it. But make sure the arms fit right, I wish I went down a size.
Also for the stick. I just got a Warrior CR3 (my first composite) Love it so far
Nathan Millsap what size did you get and how long have you had the composite stick?
@@ThePuckStopsHere chesty was large with large arms (I'm 5"11 190lbs) . The stick is holding up great, so light that I'm having issues keeping the paddle down.
Nathan Millsap I didn’t think about a stick being so light that it’s hard to keep it down. That’s an interesting fact. And I see why you said you should have went with a smaller size. I’m 6’0 and I think I am going to go with a medium in what ever chesty I get. I’ve always felt large is to big on me.
@@ThePuckStopsHere I think the chest is fine (I like big) but the arms bend too far down. I got them on sale and that's all they had and for $200 for a pro chesty... I wasn't going to complain. I might call up warrior and buy medium replacement arms in the future.
Nathan Millsap that’s a great idea and what a steal!
Did you visit PHL Heartland??? That's my home one too, I kinda recognized it from the inside, but when you went outside as well it totally looked like it was Heartland...
Warrior rcr3
I have the Warrior G4 Pro chesty and it feels like armor. Warrior chesty rewards you for playing a strict blocking butterfly style; the elbow blocks feel like two extra gloves, and the design of the plastic on the biceps make the hardest of shots just die and roll into the elbows. It feels almost like cheating, but I would only recommend it to a blocking butterfly goalie, or as a second one for practices or where you want more protection (Div1/Div2).
I love warriors sticks
What do you love most about them?
True
You should try a Vaughn chesty
That's what I have and I am going to try some on when I go back to buy one.
Bauer composite sticks on top
Never personally had a True stick, but I've only seen negative reviews on their durability (on GGSU).
I'm a big fan of the Warrior CA but have seen those plastic pieces fall apart. I'm not sure if the Pro G4 has a "Classic" but that's what they call their line with normal forarm protection without the plastic
Jason Paul I’m always worried about the durability of composite sticks. That’s why I’ve never switched from foam core. And thanks for the info on the Warrior. 👍
My coach bought a couple True sticks and he landed me one to try out. It's a 4.5, P31 curve and tbh I hate it. Played 1 period with it and couldn't do it anymore. I'm used to wood sticks, so having a composite one made me feel like I was gonna break it at any moment. And the material of the shaft is more "grippy", so it makes it hard to slide off your stick to poke check. My blocker gets stuck there. But maybe it has to do with the material of my palm (i'm not sure what it is but i use a CCM Eflex 400 blocker, not the newest). I wouldn't buy one personally.
Dude Bro I feel the same about the durability but perhaps it’s something to get use to. Especially if most goalies are using them these days. I just don’t like the idea of spending $300 on something that might break easier then the $120 stick I am using which typically lasts about a season or 2.
The Puck Stops Here Unless there was an exceptional deal or something, i wouldn't buy it if I were you. Trying on new things and moving on from old equipment is exciting, but sometimes it's best to stick with what's comfortable to us
I can understand that theory for sure. If it works don’t fix it right. But that’s like driving a Toyota your whole life and it works and then you have the opportunity to drive a Tesla but because you think “mine works, so I won’t like the Tesla” and then never experiencing something new and way better. I definitely want to try some composites, just need to wait for some deals or demos to see which one I like the best.
I had thee original Warrior. I use to be a very active goalie with my catcher and it made me become more of a blocking style because of the arm mechanism
6th String Tender really? Is that because it was bulky?
The Puck Stops Here To me yes! Amazing protection in the arms, never felt a single shot from any range no matter if it was a Pro -> Rec player. I just found it had me more so tucking my elbows down and into my body rotating my glove downwards instead of staying up and out
The 2s pro is the BEST
Is that what you have?
The goalie interference thing might’ve been valid, but the whole deflection thing was wrong. Jake DeBrusk scored a goal off of his chest just a couple of weeks ago. Also, that hockey store looked like you said-a candy store! I’ve always wanted to go to the Goalie Monkey store in Tampa Bay, it’s like a Walmart size store just for goalies, I don’t even think there’s player gear there. Great game by the way!
-Scotch- yeah, it is like a candy store, I didn’t even show off like 10% of the store. It is massive. Anything you could want regarding hockey you can get there.
My favorite stick is either the Warriors or the trues
What are you currently using?
@@ThePuckStopsHere true
What do you like most about it?
Also, the Vaughn VE8 Pro Carbon THS Spec is the best chesty I have ever worn. NHL beef up package in the arms and sternum (should help with those gut shots), as well as carbon fiber in the sternum, shoulders, and belly blocks. There is also Kevlar in the belly padding. To top it all off, it’s easily the most mobile chesty on the market. It’s top dollar, but it’s 100% worth it.
Carter MacEwen how much does that one go for with that setup?
My favourite steak is ccm
That Tesla is a serious car man. They're nice.
Thanks! Yes, I love it!
Hiii
Love the true sticks because they feel like a foam core that holds it's feel longer, but my second one lasted only 2 weeks. I've been getting them on sale so I keep picking them up
Jen Taylor it only lasted 2 weeks! Did you get a new one under warranty?
Oh I see. Well even if they are on clearance, they should still be covered under warranty. I believe, but I’m not 100% sure.
My goalie stick is a bauer vapour s19
Vaughn V6 2200 Pro. Still probably the most mobile one out there. My favorite stick is an old model Warrior Swagger Howard model. Thing has a great curve and its very whippy.
Dharmaboy I love Vaughn... I’ll have to try one before I make my decision.
@@ThePuckStopsHere You can get some used even in good shape. Honestly the most mobile unit of the group. I hate boxy C/A as I am a hybrid goalie and not pure butterfly. Everything out there is Robocop stiff. Unless you go Kennesky which is what most of the NHL has switched to
Dharmaboy your the first to mention Kennesky. I haven’t tried theirs on yet. I’ll have to look into it as well. I was thinking about used. But it’s probably going to be my last C/A so I think I’ll go new just because I don’t plan on getting another one.
My wife and I both use a warrior ritual goalie stick and like them.
JaredInBlack bro I can’t imagine marrying another goalie
That would be awesome!
@@ThePuckStopsHere It is awesome! I didn't play when we met. She has played since she was a teenager. We are about the same height and have been able to share a lot of the gear, we almost have 2 complete sets now. I play down a couple levels from where she plays.
That’s so cool!
I have Warrior GT. Might get a 1x now that they are on clearance.
Warrior GT is very flexible and I havnt had one stinger yet. nice thing about warrior is when the stores put their 20-30% off sales, warrior pro gear is included where Bauer elite and pro gear is not, and noone wants the entry model gear that is onsale lol. I believe I got my chesty for 30% off sale around boxing day but also had a 10% online sale code so i made off like a bandit. I am 5"9 and my chesty is Senior M. I think I should have gotten a small tho. Warrior GT came basically fully worked in. Felt amazing after 5 mins on ice with in.
Stick is Sherwood BPM 120 bought boxing day for 50% off. ($99) amazing deal.
Man? You really know how to find the deals. I need to keep my eyes out like you! And that’s good to hear about the GT. I feel like any new chesty will be better then what I have. I’m going to have to try on a few more before I buy.
@@ThePuckStopsHere The next day after I commented on your video, ProLife put the 1x already on clearance for another 20% less...lol snagged it for $430ish. Score! My warrior gt is for sale. wink wink haha

Vaughn XF7 Pro Carbon, got it on a 33% sale, but had been eyeing it for about 6 months prior. I got lucky :) and also play Medium so that's kinda the last sizes to get off the shelves :)
Favorite stick: Sher-Wood T80 ... alot higher quality than the GS350 that I bought from them before, the GS350 is Made in China and the quality & durability was shit. The composite however, was top notch and I haven't seen any signs of needing a replacement for it. I have used it over 1 year now, 2-3 times a week on average.

Fabian M wow, I don’t want that to happen to me lol
CCM premier 2 twig it's the best stick
What do you like about it?
It is so light well made so it won't break I have had one for 2 years and the only thing that has broken is the players confidence😁😂😂
One of my players has the hardest Slapshot I have ever seen it's 80 mph no joke, he shots his hardest at my stick and nothing happens except a puck mark
Mat Perron wow! That’s does sound like its durable for sure! 80mph is no joke. And lol about breaking players confidence lol
I have a warrior, and the arms are a little long for me too however it is absolutely beastly. I actually find wearing pants with a chest protector is more important. As a goalie who is more hybrid, it works for me despite being bulky looking and feeling. I use warrior sticks too. Bauer everything else.
Hey man great vid I mean all there goals were good but do you think you can put a camera on the other side so we can see the other goalie or is it to hard
I really want to do that, but I don’t have another camera. I do want to have one at both ends though and perhaps in the future I will 👍

Theo Farano yeah? How’s the vibration?
The Puck Stops Here next to no vibration way better then The old true sticks also been using a 2s stick as well not as good durability but definitely a bit lighter if you can believe it would say those are the two best sticks on the market today

Either the 1x or 2s pro
Hello comment section ( maybe even @The Puck Stops Here )
So I played hockey most of my life growing up but stopped 2 years ago after my high school team won our state championship. While I was growing up I always played defense but I want to get back into hockey in my area this year as a goalie instead. I do not personally own a set of pads yet and I know that helmet is #1. There is a good set of pads at my local store that I am looking at for a really good price, they are enough to last me if I chose to continue but not bank breaking pads. I have played goalie a bit for my rec teams growing up when we did not have a goalie but nothing extensive. Any tips on buying pads and just general goalie things would be very appreciated.
Thanks to everyone who responds.
ongon68 it sounds like you are off to a good start. Since you are just starting out as a goalie, it’s hard to know what your going to like and not like right off the bat. So I recommend borrowing someone’s equipment to try out if you can to see if you like what they are using. The most important thing is to make sure you get equipment that fits you properly and is comfortable because there is nothing worse then being uncomfortable in net as you need to be 100% focused on the game.
Now make sure you get a goalie jock. I just played shinny with my team the other week and I switched positions with one of my players where I played out and he went in net. As he was getting ready he thought he could wear his player jock lol. I assume you know not to wear a player jock in net but if you didn’t, then please make sure you don’t as you can get really hurt if you do.
Another thing is to make sure you get s catcher with a comfortable break. I use a 600 break which feels natural to me. So try on a bunch of gloves and ask the staff at the store to show you different breaks to see which you like best. A break is basically the angle at which the glove closes and depending on your hand, some breaks are more comfortable then others.
Lastly, I recommend not worrying too much about all the technical aspects of the equipment (minus the break in your glove). If you are just starting out, the little details won’t make a difference for you as you will need to learn the fundamentals of the position before you’ll be able to notice a difference between consumer and pro level gear. If you are still learning how to do a butterfly or butterfly slide or even the basic skating techniques that goalies use, then you probably wouldn’t notice the difference between $100 skates and $900 ones.
Anyways, those are just my opinions so please take them with a grain of salt.
I have used warrior, Bauer, CCM, Sherwood, and infinity sticks, varying from wood to foam core to composite and by far my favorite is the warrior CR1. And as far as chest guards go I have the original warrior ritual chesty and love it, gonna need a new one soon though lol.
HaleyHockeyHighlights the CR1. Okay, I’ll have to check it out. And why are you going to need a new chesty? Did that one wear out?
Pretty good skaters you faced and the shots they were producing. Good rebound control dude
The Wall thanks, yeah some of their players were pretty good. But I know I can play better and I’ll get them next time!
Funky game. Easily could’ve had six more goals on you, your teams good should’ve counted unless it was interference. Both explanations are troubling, but nothing you can do. Still amazing with your side to side speed, I need some of that.
Simco Sports thanks I appreciate that. I guess all the odd man rushes and passes across the crease have helped me get faster at getting across the ice. 👍
Warrior ritual cr1 most of pros are using it
theenitehawk I wonder how different they are then the ones on the shelf.
@@ThePuckStopsHere i love mine they had to ship it in its a 250$ stick, i just had pro hockey life bucks from buying my pads and i had a friend that worked there as well, so i paid $40 out my pocket. It's indestructible, great balance, great feel,
Is this the PHL at Vaughan mills?
No, in oakville
I just picked up a Bauer 1x stick today. One thing I will say Is it's been years since I bought a new stick and I'm not sure if they have changed the scaling of them but I wanted to get a slightly shorter stick this time so I went with a 27" compared to my 28 1/2 and the 1x turns out to be taller 😂😂 both senior Bauer vapour just my old one is a 7 year old x50. Not sure what the deal with that is but I thought it was weird
SkylineLynar I can’t believe you have a stick that lasted 7 years. Sounds like an awesome stick lol. And yeah, I bet the sizing has changed since then.
@@ThePuckStopsHere ya man, she was a beauty the only bad damage in it is from me lol. It's been my only stick the whole time as well. Kinda why I decided to get spare in case she finally decides to go. I never really played a high level of hockey so I'm guessing that's why it lasted so long .
SkylineLynar gotcha. I think my Sherwood’s usually last about 1.5 seasons playing men’s leauge once a week. But that’s awesome that yours has lasted that long. 👍
Hey cool, you shop at the Heartland PHL also?
In my humble opinion dude, if you want mobility and feel (aka Jonny Quick style), I'd go with the VE8 Senior Pro (not the Carbon Pro; that's the highest most expensive end model).
I had the epic chesty for about 10 years, and just made the switch to the Ve8. I don't give a shit for size, bulkiness, technology, etc haha I really just wanted something that felt AMAZING, and allowed me to move however I wanted. The Ve8 does that, and I barely had to break it in too. It felt broken in after about one or two skates.
As for the stick, I'm a huge CCM Premier guy (I believe it's the P2.9, so not the higher end composite one, but the tier right below it). The Price Toe Curve is the best stick I've ever owned. It's light, it's thin (so easy to grip on your blocker). Only thing you might have to do is sand off the built in grip shit at the paddle. I found it stuck way too much to my blocker so it was impossible to slide my hand up the stick to poke or play the puck, but if you sand it off it's perfect.

The Puck Stops Here : I used foam core for years and years and it feels very similar. Super lightweight and low vibration.
As a bonus it makes a really cool sound when you tap the post with it. 😎
MegaTony lol, I tap the posts every time there is a whistle, so that might be kind of cool 👍
I've got the exact same Warrior Ritual as you were trying, even the same size! It's just a different colour. I really like it, agree it feels a little bulky (though it's my first ever chest protector so I'm sure everything would feel bulky) but I still have yet to feel any pain from getting hit by shots.
Meikkhaell nice. If the arms were a bit smaller it would be perfect but again, I think it can all be adjusted. So I’ll have to see when I go back to buy one.
Any update? would love to see what you get
I will be buying one and doing the update video soon 👍
Rewatched because of boredom + youtube rabbithole and i was curious if you're still using a 27" paddle? I'm 6'0" and used to use a 27" and switched last year to 26" True A6.0 and much prefer it!
Stephen Kyriakou nice and nope, I’ve switched to a 26” as well and will only use my 27” if that one breaks.
I use 2s pro
Are they durable?
Yes
I love these types of vids can you make more please!
Seth Carroll of course! :)
Thanks!
