  • In this video I demonstrate making of a heavy bottom valve cap to a Bach Stradivarius trumpet. I'm using my Hobbymat MD65 lathe which is an excellent tool for brass instrument repair.

Hi and thanks for you video. Is there a way to get a good finish on the bottom of the inside of the cap? It’s cut with the drill bit tip, so not the best finish. Any ideas?

Hi, the inside bottom should be cut with a milling machine, but unfortunately I don't have one.

Yes, if you have all the gears that come with MD65 then you can do any size of threads. You just need to change the right gears.

Tack! Jag gillar det med dem. De lägger till mer vibrerande massa.
