- With Hugh Jackman returning as Logan in Deadpool & Wolverine we've decided to take a look at the Wolverine Trilogy, starting with the first and the worst X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Acting also as the live action introduction of Deadpool it has all the ingredients of a great X-Men adventure and yet it falls down at almost every step it takes. Fun Fact: this dreadful slog of a film contains some of my favorite pieces of practical set building-namely the stasis tanks present throughout the Weapon X facility. These had to be built to really precise specifications and to withstand tons of physical abuse as they are used in multiple shots of actors and stuntmen bursting out of containment, often close ups and slowmo. The blue liquid inside the tanks is a precise mixture of 90% water and 10% blue raspberry Kool-Aid, which the production team would mix daily in wheeled 70 gallon garbage bins. The liquid would stain any fabric it came in contact with for too long, leading to the costume dept fielding whole racks full of white tank tops for Jackman and Schreiber to change into between takes. It even lightly stained the hair and skin of some of the performers, requiring on-set makeup personnel to even dye the hair of some of the actors back to its original color. The extensive use of this liquid gave the film its working title, “Blue Harvest”

Fun Fact, Mystique was going to be a main character in this one. Mystique being blue, this led to the working title for this movie being Blue Harvest 🤣
MVP of this, without a doubt, Liev Schreiber as Sabretooth, he is terrific in this otherwise shit ass shitty movie. Disappointed that he’s seemingly not returning for Deadpool & Wolverine.

Also, not that logic or cannon mattered in this film in the slightest, but Gambit I guess earned a living in poker and has a plane on standby for whenever a burly mutant needs a lift to an island? And if the studio ever continued with Gambit in a future exploration with him and somehow got him together with Rogue, I tend to think Rogue's character is probably not even born in this continuity meanwhile Gambit is in his 30's if one had to guess.
Also Fox Rogue is way worse than even this version of Deadpool.
