  • Dentention Deputies work to keep inmates and each other safe. Some deputies are more than just coworkers or partners - they're family.

Either you've never been to jail or have only spoken with dumbasses online/dumbass friends who've went.
Yeah, you've got your dick COs, they exist. But most of us, just want to do our job and go home. Just because you beat your wife, doesn't mean we can't have a civilized conversation about what you plan to do when you get out.
Most of the COs, in my facility, will ***gladly*** sit down and have an hour long conversation if you're feeling down. If the inmate wants, even after the conversation, we can still refer them to the facility's mental health team. We also tend stop by the respectful inmates often times to have a short chat during well-being checks. See how their case is going, see how they're holding up, etc.

I mean I agree with you for the most part but disagree a little bit. I have been to the mecklenburg county jail in Charlotte 12-15 times I would guess. (5 times or so for actual charges and countless times for probation violations and drug court violations). I also did 21 months in prison at foothills correctional. Majority of officers don’t really give a damn other then making sure you’re alive but I have met a few who seem to genially care how you’re doing and want the best for you. I can remember one at the jail named officer Baur who seemed to really care about your well being but it could of just been show. In prison an officer named edwards I know for sure REALLY cared about you and how you were doing. I literally saw him call out of some kind of CO meeting to sit with an inmate who was struggling with some issues with his family back home. It must of been close to 45 mins he sat and talked with this dude and just listened to him vent and I assume gave words of encouragement. As I said in the beginning you are right for the most part. I just wanted to point out that I have personally seen the exception to that rule in the NCDPS.

@@jasjuaquin140 no, its a fact. They push open doors they close doors and rarely one does get injured. Show me a proffession or instance in life where that doesn't happen. Carpenters are 1,000 more times likely to die on a job and you don't see people giving them recognition.
Correction officers are the laziest people on earth and or dumbest. Its an entry level job. Fact

@@j.kelley1685 you're incredibly ignorant. I was a Correctional Officer at a jail for some time and it was a hard, stressful, and dangerous job. Staffing was low, so we had 4 officers and 1 in control to control over 130 inmates in this facility... there were many times in which we got into fights for our lives with inmates, I've had co workers get concussions, broken limbs, and various other injuries during this job. Being a CO isn't easy like you make it out to be, and while there are some who are lazy, many of us are hard working individuals, trying to do our job with limited staffing, limited training, and limited funding... you are incredibly ignorant.
