- Hey guys, it is finally time to giveaway our mid-century modern chair! We Just finished making the seat cushion for this chair and we're ecstatic with how the chair turned out. We traced the platform to make the chair seat cushion, so if you have a chair with a damaged or missing seat cushion this is how you can replace it.

I’m definitely late to the game......but just wanted you to know I learned to sew slip covers from your tutorial a few years back....i have done a love seat (thrift store buy..$15) and a chaise (hand me down) .....only I know the imperfections (mistakes) because they look that good!!!! I have been watching your videos and they have been great! I was feeling confident about re-stuffing my leather couch. I opened my seat cushion to look at the foam and noticed their is another zippered pouch inside containing a packet of feathers and down. I assume this packet on top of the foam gave the cushions it’s crowned top. So now I need help. I am a heavy guy at 270lbs and I was thinking of ordering from you the 35 density foam but the I worry it’s too stiff. Do I get it wrapped in the one inch material and discard the feather packet, or order foam only and some additional feathers to add in to the packet. Or do I add poly fill in with the feathers to restore the crown? Help!
Hi David,
We’re so glad our videos were helpful! You have great questions, first things first, I would say that 35 compression would not be too stiff. It is our medium firmness and is a good choice. Also if you like the “feel” of the cushion and are unhappy with the support of your current cushions I would suggest keeping the feather liner and replacing the foam core. Feather and foam is actually one of the higher-end options. Also instead of adding an additional inch to your cushion cover measurements for your new foam core, just measure the cover and order the foam core to those measurements. You could also measure your existing foam core (if it is not misshaped) and order your foam at those measurements. Finally, if you would like to add to the feathers I would only recommend additional feathers and not polyfill (since it can cause clumps).
