The creator of a social media movement urging liberals to detach themselves from the Democratic Party said he was denied service at a camera store because of his campaign.

When I was younger, I would have worn the "Make America Great Again" hat. I would have put the Trump bumper sticker on my car. I wouldn't have been afraid of the repercussions of not being part of the mob, and would have stood up. Now I am old, and in poor health. One blow, from an angry leftist, could kill me, or permanently disable me. I'm already partially disabled. So I go quietly about my business, and jump up and down, in my mind, when I see these young people come forward and say, "That's enough! I am done!" Thank you all, for this #walkaway campaign. You are my heroes, for taking the unpopular stand.

I work in a small retail store and any political talk from everyone there is how much Trump is hated and how badly we need Biden & Harris in the White House. My last straw with the democratic party was when they allowed the government to shut down in order to protect illegal immigrants and DACA. How many American citizens was hurt by that? Their job as congress members is to follow the law and represent American citizens, not people who come here illegally.

Depends on what you consider "hurt." Mostly, it was just a mild inconvenience for people who use the services and government employees. Essential services didn't shut down, and employees get paid for the time missed when it ends. If anyone was hurt, it's taxpayers whose money was spent on departments doing nothing. I agree the Democrats were completely in the wrong. It wasn't even to protect anyone; it was to continue to allow more people to enter illegally. But don't make the mistake of thinking a shut down is some huge disaster.

I was stunned the first time I saw this guy's video, because his entire rationale was identical to my own when I made the decision to walk away months before his video went viral. His message was comforting because I was worried that I had turned into some kind of crackpot. He made me realize that I had not gone crazy or turned into a nut, but rather had made an inescapably logical decision in the face of the left's insane swerve left in the face of Trump's victory (disclaimer: I did not vote for Trump and rooted for him to lose). There are a lot of us; people who felt they had no choice but support Hillary who are now appalled at what has gone down since then. I am not a Trump fan, but my vote in 2020 is now his to lose. And even if he loses it, my vote will never again go to the Dems. I walked away for good.

I was also a Liberal for 25 years or so. I am ashamed of the things i have foolishly believed when i was younger. I will never again let myself be uninformed or misinformed. I will take the extra hour a day and read a bit more, research a bit more and even watch channels like CNN so i know what the Left is up to. We should have to pass an exam before we can vote, just 25 simple trivia questions, unbiased and fair. Just so the people who don't know anything are not allowed to decide our future.

I disagree respectfully. That is voter suppression. I would love to institute an IQ test, but doing so would not only violate the constitution but would alienate people. Just because someone doesn't know what is going on doesn't mean that they don't have legitimate concerns that affect them, their family or community. That's something the Democrats would do.

Even if you are closer to the center, they will nevertheless see you as simply an opponent. The result is in that moment you feel inclined to move further out (to the left or to the right) anyway, in order to stand properly against such irrational zeal. I find comfort in the knowledge that by far the majority of people are not radical extremists. We just hear a lot of clamor from a small group who are.

It only took one lovely lady (his childhood babysitter) to compassionately encourage him to start researching and guided him along the way. Indeed Ecphantus, when any reasonable person is faced with facts and hard evidence, they will start thinking. It is very difficult to make that change when you've been lied to for so long. I only became interested in politics in 2016 when all my friends were absolutely crazy about Bernie. I got caught up in the emotion without facts and it was Bernie or Bust for me. Luckily, I had 25 years of annual security training to realize the amount of corruption that would allow Hillary to walk. That was *my hard evidence.* Many on the left have not had that training, so they can't understand. They need other facts and evidence to trigger their brain into thinking logically.
It's been happening almost everyday since the 2016 election. It started when the media tried to say "Trump called all Mexicans rapists" and that opened people's eyes about the lies they were telling. A lot of Bernie supporters jumped on the Trump train as well because they were upset at the DNC and for good reason. Ever since then more and more people, gay, black, Asian, Latin, and even ultra Leftist self hating whites have been leaving the Democratic party in droves with each new manufactured outrage.

Jana M Oh absolutely, capitalism works and the left's attacks against whites, men and christians are in no way better than the right's attacks on lgbt people. But just because the left attack christians, that doesn't give christians a right to do the same against LGBT people. Then it's just two different forms of tyranny fighting for power. The only way the right can win against the left is by pushing a consistent message of individual liberty and small government. And yes, that includes tolerating lifestyles one may not agree with or which may even be objectively self-destructive. There is no difference between leftists saying government must regulate the economy and redistribute wealth because wealth discrepancy is unhealthy, and christians attempting to ban gay marriage because they deem the lgbt movement harmful to the nuclear family (a view I would contest, because that policy doesn't turn straight people gay.)
That is the major moral hypocrisy of conservatism: they suddenly love big government when it comes to sex. That is why libertarianism or pure capitalism are superior. No one has the power to assume ownership of even one second of a fellow citizen's life. That leaves people to their own devices, and society will regulate itself. Those who make good choices will breed in higher numbers. No one will be able to attack anyone for their skin color, religion, sexual orientation or anything else. Everyone is equal before the law and there are no power structures that inevitably lead to corruption and identity politics.
I used to be left of center. My values haven't changed but now i'm center right. The left now has values that i don't recognize. There is nothing liberal about Islam. Its the most conservative religion on earth.

Former head of a local Democratic Socialist group in the late 90s. I've participated in a number of protests, demonstrations and everything, I was even a big Bernie Supporter...I can no longer stand the left. I agree wholeheartedly with this movement. I have been able to have more civil conversations on ideology with people I once would have considered to be my "enemy" than I have been able to have with "friends". We need to pull together, clean our country up, bring more jobs in, that's all we we need! Look, when there are jobs available that you can actually live off of without assistance, a person tends to change their view, we need a middle class! We need good honest people in charge of our tax money, that will use it to benefit our country! We could produce jobs by fixing our infrastructure, hiring more people to keep it looking good, builders to upkeep our historical buildings, build new ones, programs for inner cities and rural areas, that would also provide jobs, and at the same time be providing a service to our people! I'm sick of hearing the border situation...every country has their laws and they enforce them!! No one here wants to keep immigrants out as long as they are coming in lawfully! The man, bless his heart, wanted to micro-manage everything and it was too much but he taught me to love and accept all.
