    I am ordering this upgrade soon, the video is going to be a big help.
    To those who may have trouble keeping up with the video, you can play it in .75 or .5 speed.
    Unfortunately many people who do "how-to" videos feel the need to do the process as fast as possible thinking it emphasizes how "easy" the process is, not thinking that people are actually more served by someone undertaking the work at an intentionally slowed pace.

    When I got my Ruger max9 to the range for the first time I was really regretting my purchase.. then I gave this trigger a shot.. man! What a difference 👏. Why Ruger did not have this in the first place beats me.... with the factory trigger I was always pulling my shots due to all the play.. Galloway took all that away and made my max9 fun to shoot. Must have upgrade. Thank you Galloway once again

    I.. LOVED... everything about the Max-9... EXCEPT the trigger. Of all the 4 or 5 micro 9s out there it fit MY hand the best including the P365 and I am a Sig guy. I didn't like the long take up of the Max-9 but what REALLY bugged me was the almost 2mm sideways slop both to the left and right of the trigger. I solved ALL my trigger issues by installing the Maxxis Short Stroke Trigger from Galloway Precision. It has a wide, flat face. The take up virtually disappeared and the wall, break and reset are awesome. This simple to do $36 upgrade has turned the Max-9 into my EDC.

    • @larryholton9560
      @larryholton9560 Před 2 lety +1

      Yes the sideways slop combined with my big fingers sometimes put slight pressure to the left as I start pulling and then the trigger will not pull it binds up this is a complete no-go for a carry pistol. This is the factory trigger I am referring to. I guess I'll shoot the gun a little bit and if I like it all except that I'll order me one of these triggers

      I bought the Ruger Max-9 pro (without thumb safety) about 9 months ago. After over a thousand rounds through it, I’ve had zero malfunctions and I love it. Around 250 rounds in, I installed a Holosun 407k red dot and my accuracy improved dramatically. Love this gun even more. Being my first sub-compact 9 and first red dot, the Max-9 performs flawlessly and I had no complaints. Until, I started watching videos about people talking smack about the trigger. I suppose I did notice the trigger being a spongy and long take-up and a little sloppy in the side to side wiggle, but not until they told me. (Always have your gun unloaded and follow along as they play with the trigger. You’ll notice they are right about things you hardly noticed) I figured the original trigger was okay and got used to it. I wasn’t expecting anything like the precision and perfection of my Beretta 92F in this little gun but saw room for improvement I didn’t know existed.
      Along came the videos about the Galloway Precision trigger kit for the Ruger Max-9 and how it took away the long take-up and reset.
      Gotta have one. The only hard decision was, red or black? I clicked on “red” on the order form and noticed there were 10 in stock. I clicked on “black” and they have 15. (More people are choosing red) Not being much of a follower, I watched a few videos and everyone had the red one. Still not sure. Why not choose black and make it look like the trigger is stock? Well, screw it. The red one does look cool and I don’t care if everyone immediately knows I replaced the trigger, so I went with red. And of course, the range guys noticed I had a new red Galloway Precision trigger. Said it was the best improvement I could have made for the Max-9. I agreed and secretly wished I’d ordered the black one so that they’d think I just got a whole lot better at shooting the Max-9 without any help. Oh well.
      The installation video here is what I followed and I highly recommend using the pause button a lot. Even slow motion. This guy is pushing pins out and throwing them aside and at full speed, you’re not sure which ones he lost or cares about. Hint: He re-uses every pin and didn’t lose any of them.
      After successfully installing the Galloway Precision trigger, the initial dry fires were very satisfying. Tested the wiggle side to side. That’s almost gone where the original trigger was really sloppy there. Take-up, reset, dramatically improved. Range time.
      It shoots like a brand new gun with a really good trigger. Imagine that?
      I’m almost 60 years old and no gun expert or fanatic, but I’ve owned some great pistols that needed no improvements that I was aware of.
      The Ruger Max-9 definitely needed the Galloway Precision trigger and I’m glad I got one. (Still not sure about the red color but it’s growing on me)
      Thanks Galloway Precision for making the cheapest sub-compact .9mm shoot like any of the more expensive models in this class.

    Just got mine installed, it is a huge difference. I guess the one thing about this video you need to be aware of - watch carefully as he does the disassembly and reassembly, he puts his fingers over spring and holds them in place so they don't just drop out. And watch that takedown pin cover! It is magic in the way it can disappear - and then you hunt for it with a flashlight for an hour because you can't live without it.

    Installed tonight with help from this vid. Made it relatively easy for this novice. Thanks Galloway! Only problem I had was the Frame Insertion Pin was slightly bent from the factory, so alignment of the Grip Frame and Frame Insert was a problem on reassembly. With the Frame Insert removed, I determined the correct pin rotation to allow insertion, marked the inserted pin face at a 12 O'clock orientation, removed pin, reinstalled Frame Insert and banged the pin home using the marked 12 O'clock alignment.

I was really looking forward to trying out the new trigger (and optic I installed) but now I'm on hold till I receive another safety spring (ordered two) from Ruger.

    I just installed this on my new Max9.
    What a difference!
    The stupid factory banana shaped POS trigger that came on pistol was an absolute abomination!
    Loose side to side play! 10 miles of take up! Looks ugly as sin!
    The new Maxxis trigger is much better!
    I can actually get my finger in the trigger guard without depressing the trigger safety.
    Take up feels like it has been reduced by 40% - 50%!
    No more side to slide slop!
    Looks the way Ruger should have made it in the first place!
    Install wasn't that tough. Galloway's video did a good job of explaining everything.

      Both versions work with the MAX-9 California Approved Model without the need to remove the Magazine Disconnect. The latest offering "Maxxis External Safety Short Stroke Trigger for the Ruger MAX-9 California Model" is for the California model only and eliminates the Trigger Safety leaving the manual safety enabled. For your Cali model it comes down to wanting the trigger safety or not.

    The trigger and the black pin that goes horizontally through, tolerance is real tight had to tap it in with the punch. now the steel pin that goes in vertically will not fit in, despite trying to center it in. Anyone else had this problem?

    • @GallowayPrecision
      @GallowayPrecision  Před 7 měsíci

      We do test fit each trigger on a nominal pivot before sending them off to anodizing. We have seen an increase in tapered or slight offset in the part line shift on the factory pivot from production. The plastic trigger will stretch over this imperfection, but the aluminum will not. The best option is to fit the pivot to the trigger. Take a look at the factory pivot for the taper or shift, and with some fine sandpaper lightly sand the taper or shift out a little at a time until the trigger properly fits on the trigger pivot. I hope this helps with your installation.

    I was looking at upgrading the trigger in mine but there are 2 options. There is the california compliant version without a trigger safety on it and this one. Why doesn't the california one have a trigger safety? Is there any reason not to get that one if I don't care about the trigger safety?

      We have two versions that work with the MAX-9 California Approved model, the Maxxis Short Stroke Trigger Kit and the Maxxis External Safety Short Stroke Trigger Kit. The choice is yours on whether you'd like the Safety Blade Version or the Non-safety Blade version. It's a personal preference. Both kits come with our stainless pivot pin and work without removing the magazine disconnect in the Cali version.
