She was by far the best vocalist I’ve ever heard. The emotions she transferred into her interpretations were just second to none. The “Elohi” version from the closing scene of “Queen Margot” is the most emotional piece of music I’ve ever encountered. She was a goddess indeed.
Ofra is my absolute favorite voice!! Many say in their comments she sang like an angel and I totally agree, she was as close to perfection as possible. She is sorely missed! I am so glad that more people will get to know her wonderful voice, thank you for this!

People forget how famous this woman was in the 80s and 90s in the western world especially Europe. She had several #1 hits worldwide and was best seller with such people such as Michael Jackson and Prince in many places in the world. I still remember the day ''Im Nin Alu'' and ''Galbi'' came out. They were everywhere in the disco clubs and we were all fascinated with this talented and unique lady, as we had never seen anything like her before. We loved her and we still do. Rest in peace immortal angel.

Who the hell came up with that "Israeli Madonna"? I never heard it until seeing video reactions to Ofra but it is the most inane title. She is in nothing comparable to Madonna. Not in image, not in personality, not in music and most definitely not vocally.
She is called that because she was also provocative with some of her songs which were considered taboo in Israel (not as provocative as Madonna). Plus she was as famous in the eastern world as Madonna was in the western world. So I think it has to do more with success.
And I agree, she cannot be compared to Madonna because it would be a shame to compare a vocal goddess to someone who uses autotune often
@@eurech I lived in Israel...never heard her be called that. As far as I know only the frecha song caused a stir back in the early days of her career. Hardly on the level Madonna shocked folks.
To say the comparison came about because of fame strikes me as nonsensical. Ofra's career started earlier and also there were very famous singers in the west who were more comparable to Ofra vocally and stylistically . Why would anybody go for Madonna? It makes no sense to anybody who knows a bit of both.
But yes, to be absolutely clear..Ofra was many classes above Madonna vocally.
