Why a woman's doctor warned her not to get pregnant in Texas
By Elizabeth Cohen and Danielle Herman
Nine years ago, Cade DeSpain messaged a friend about a cute girl he saw on her Facebook feed.
The friend introduced him to Kailee Lingo, her sorority sister at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas. Kailee remembers that when she and Cade met, it was "a connection at first sight."
A month after college graduation, Kailee and Cade married in Marble Falls, Texas. They're both proud to be native Texans: Kailee's family has lived there for generations, and Cade's ancestors are among Texas' "Old Three Hundred," the original families that joined Stephen F. Austin to settle the area in the 1800s.
At the time, the DeSpains were both passionately anti-abortion.
"I was just your quintessential pro-life Texan," Kailee, 29, told CNN in a recent interview.
"I was raised in central Texas by extremely Republican parents and grandparents," Cade, 31, said. "One hundred percent pro-life."

Arrest? He literally dragged her outside, violently, for doing her job. 💀
Ikr
He kidnapped her
Never in your LIFE treat a lady like that. Especially a health care worker . Both of your jobs meanings is to protect and save peoples lifes. What if you were in that same position.
Police are near the top of the law you give them what they want and they won’t need to arrest you resisting what the police ask of if you is also a crime
@@callsign_ghost3189 "Do what they tell you or be violently arrested." That's basically what you're saying. Fun fact, that is how a dictatorship works. It is not a crime to disobey police, especially if what the police ask you to do is not legal. Rights exist for a reason, police are not allowed to just trample all over them.
The cop was humiliated by the phone call so he got mad, abused his power, and arrested the nurse.
Right ... he needs to be jailed

She listed the three stipulations under which they could draw blood and none of them applied. They arrested her for making them look stupid.
Pride and ego got in the way.
That's the name of the game for people in positions of authority sadly.
you'd think they'd be used to looming stupid hy now
Policy doesn't override law. If there are probable grounds, then exigent circumstances as per the motor vehicle act, warrant that a health care worker MUST provide a blood sample to the officer, regardless of whether the patient is conscious or not. The cop may have been an idiot for not articulating this, but he wasn't completely wrong
@@AB-se3me No. Just no.
I love how the nurse calls her superior for clarification, he takes her side, tells the police officer not to threaten medical staff, and the cop's reaction is to immediately attack her. What a lunkhead.
In case anyone wants to know that officer was also an ambulance driver. He lost both of his jobs because of his misconduct.
I appreciate the good news
Good wonder how he treats his wife
Good, not fit for either.
Considering he's a piece of garbage that most likely arrested her to intimidate and get her to take that blood sample even against policy it's really good news that his dumbass won't be doing that again
Great news 👍👍👍 no one deserved to be treated like that.

As someone who works in a hospital, I'm so afraid of this happening. We've had some very crooked cops here with our patients.
Mental institutions and the police seem to collaborate to make a person's life hell. I was handcuffed by the police, thrown in a police car and whisked away to a mental institution. They they have me mislabeled with psychosis and schizophrenia which I don't have. The nurses and 'doctors' played with my dignity.
Dear Chost Cookies: It is better to comply with the police. They are there to help the public.

This cop should have been fired on the spot for arresting a nurse for her following policy and law over a blood draw demand on a victim of a fleeing driver from police...
They so badly wanted to find something to charge someone with just for being in the wrong place and wrong time
That's exactly how I feel! Judges are just as bad, this one judge I stood before was going to give me 6 month in jail. But made up his law instead of going by how the law was written. My Lawyer pulled it out of that court and went to a higher court, and won. This young girl claims she saw me when it was getting darker. But in court there were 7 people in their and she could pick out in a well lite room. I was in a different state on the phone at the same time this girl saw me. I had my phone to show where I was at that time and he didn't want to see it, he just want lock me up. In the waiting room the Bailiff came up to me and said the system is f*cked up. they just want arrest everyone and locked them up. The Bailiff was right systems f*cked up.

For sure, you see it says that the victim/patient was hit by a car that was being chased by Salt Lake City police car. Not jumping to conclusions but there was something shady I mean really shady going on there.
People tryna say she overreacted but how the hell should a person act when they're being assaulted for no reason in the middle of a crowded room
She acted like an innocent person being unlawfully detained. Nothing unreasonable about that.
The only thing unreasonable was the ego of the officer who didn't like being told he was wrong, so his high school bully inside stood up and forced his will upon a victim. ikr, exactly what I was thinking
that's y it doesn't even need to matter if you're "nice" about things or "cordial" w/e. Just protect people's rights and serve justice. LITERALLY that's all they need to do!!
because being rude would've warranted assault and false arrest??? miss me with the respectability politics...
@@medranochav I so agree!
The cop was fired, his watch commander demoted and the nurse settled for half a million dollars. Seems like a fair outcome.
Where did you read that?
@@Tina.Di.Napoli I didn't double check but some people are saying the same thing in the comment section. So I guess it's what happened.

nah, he needed jail time
@@pandapower5902 agreed
You forgot the part where the cop got hired at Weber County Jail in August 2019. He's still a sizzling piece of bacon and a threat to America.
Wow. Hope that cop was fired and never serves in a position of authority ever again! Disgusting!
I HATE when the police or others use their power or authority to satisfy their egos and bully others. I am sickened and disgusted by that kind of behaviour.
If the police officer wasn’t a police officer he would be in jail...
If the police officer was not a police officer this would not have even happened. No ordinary person can come up to a hospital demanding a blood sample from a patient.

ummm if guy in hospital was hit by the car the cops where chasing.. .my guess is they wanted his blood to say he was intoxicated or some shit, in case they hadda cover thier own ass. don't matter if he was or not, he would have been intoxicated an at fault if they 'needed' him to be.
that's the kinda shit they do.
makes zero sense theyd even want his blood. the car they were chasing hit coma guy.
Well, a few laws were broken, but no by her
And clearly didn't give af about his job .
You shouldn't let them off the hook!!! To them that positive reinforcement they will do it again ti the the next person because there are no consequences to there poor actions!!!!
Some cops deserve a bully beardown.
He should be sued.
Not only was she assaulted but also humiliated. Imagine seeing a nurse arrested on the job all kinds of scenarios run through your head.... Was she trying to abduct a newborn, did she pocket meds or abuse a patient? So putting her through that type of humiliation is unacceptable.

Oh no, poor woman got humiliated 😱😱 anyway
Write a blog about it then.

No the police chief needs to be let go
The back story is: the truck driver is a victim of police chase. When police was chasing down another suspect, this truck driver was severely injured. That’s why police was desperate in trying to get truck driver's blood sample so they can find a way out of lawsuits.
They wanted a blood sample of an UNCONSCIOUS patient who wasnt even under arrest?! Then dragged the nurse who told them its not legal to do so?
This sounds like some super secret CIA shit
yup why the question marks xD
The patient was running from the cops
@@adrmax3292 "His [patient] truck smashed from a car racing from police"
Doesnt sound like they were taking the blood from the person running away from them. Maybe the news anchor misspoke because I dont understand why they would need the blood from the person in the truck.

1. This wasn't just a mistake he was told by multiple people what he was doing was wrong before HE escalated it.
2. Fuck police anyway. I'd rather have a different system entirely.
@Steven Hopkins well if we have to endure abuse of power and overuse of force, maybe we are better off without those who do this kind of stuff if there are only 3 policeman/woman in a city, is what we as a community deserve for raising criminals

Sometimes when something traumatic happens and there’s all this attention, you just want the whole thing to go away so I have empathy for her. I do wish she had pressed charges because an officer like that is dangerous
They kill citizens, get a paid vacation, and then are working the streets a few weeks later. 'Internal investigations' determine nothing wrong was done.
Imagine what he is doing outside the camera
@@Badwerty0 Exactly! This cop just couldn’t believe that the nurse failed to cave to his bullying! He’s been getting away with this sort of behavior for his entire career. There has been far too much of this in recent years, (or perhaps cell phones have merely spotlighted a long-standing problem) and I believe that every single case this cop has worked on should be called into question and re-examined. It would only take one or two instances to get the police to start policing themselves. My biggest fear is that these abuses undermine public trust in the justice system ... which is effective ONLY with the backing of public trust.
