Honestly. Does it ever get better (happier) than doo-wop? Dion a great talent.
Something about Dion's voice --It was rocker-strong with cool swagger and nice range.. a bit of street and finesse in one style..
I love 50s and 60s music. They didn't have to auto-tune.
And they shouldn't "have to" today either.
@@thomastimlin1724 Seems kind of obvious that singers should be able to sing.
@@66edoug unfortunately a lot of them can't without auto tune for instance Fergie lol
Now you have to hear Dion's even better "The Wanderer", the followup to #1 "Runaround Sue", where in "The Wanderer" the guy is doing the running around.
I see young kids dancing to this on CZcams all the time.
That's how they did it back in the day pretty lady. No vocal tricks, no auto-tune, just pure talent. 👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️🎶🎶🎶🎶
I will go to my grave saying that my generation had the best music
Now that's music to my ears!! Great choice of song Angela. 👍
Don't you just love when a song makes you dance in your chair ❤👍
Dion DiMucci defined pop for several years both with The Belmonts and as a solo artist -- A Teenager In Love (1959), I Wonder Why (1959), Lonely Teenager (1961), Runaround Sue (1961), The Wanderer (1961), Love Came to Me (1966), Abraham, Martin and John (1968)...
Abraham, Martin and John is probably my favorite Dion song, the song was released after the assassination of Bobby Kennedy.
* I Wonder Why (1958)
* Lonely Teenager (1960)
* Lovers came to me (1962)
Dion “ The Bronx Poet” is an American treasure, who is still a significant force in the music industry.
Check out his song “King of the New York streets”
You’re the best.
I would like to ask Dion if "The Wanderer" ever met up with "Runaround Sue".
he actively looked for them probably ...they aren't around for a long time but god bless em for a good time lol
LOVE this kind of '50's-'60's "feel good" music, & Dion was one of the best! Thanks for your reaction.
Enjoy this music and the pretty lady!
KEEP PLAYING OLDIES PLEASE SO WE NEVER LOSE THEM --YOUR THE BEST
Absolutely NO "AUTO-TUNE" modifications here!!!
A pretty lady dancing to a pretty good tune! 👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️
Love Love Love this song. Just puts a smile on your face x
Great great song & one of my All Time faves!! Bumba heyla heyla hay....bahhhh..!!!... Lol!!😅😅
Love Dion's voice, great song. How does the audience not even tap their feet? :-) Thanks for sharing your reaction to Dion. Suggestion: Harry Chapin, "Taxi".
When Dion left The Belmonts he 'hooked up' with a group called 'The Dell
Satins' to do background vocals on his records. Two members of that
group wound up joining Johnnie Maestro when he formed a group called
'The Brooklyn Bridge'.
He's 84 years old and still performs, writes and records.
My Mom loved this song!! Great music unfortunately left us years ago…with the occasional song that may come out today every blue moon that is mediocre ❤🙏🏻❤️
My older brother & sister had this 45 and I never tired rockin it back as a kid!!!🎶🔥♥️
Just listening to a song I've been listening to for 60 years and found myself dancing in my kitchen chair. Can you listen to this and sit still?
This is a bit of a classic from the early 60's. Another good song of his is The Wanderer that was covered later on by Status Quo-Colin Ward
50s music was great and hard to beat. the nice thing is when i go to hot rod car shows, they always play this kind of music.
My fraternity performed this for the annual Greek Sing. We had a blast and the girls went wild.
I saw him perform this live at the first concert I ever went to. He played at Pleasure Island, Wakefield Massachusetts in 1962. It was a large amusement park that had a lot of popular perfomers that played there. He did a number of his hits, this, "Teenager in Love", "The Wanderer" and several others.
Years later, after returning from the Navy in 1971, I got to meet him. I walked into a local breakfast spot and saw my father having breakfast with him. Somehow they had become friends and whenever Dion was in the Boston area he would call my father and meet him for breakfast! Surprised the heck out of me! 😊
Doo-wop was a major pop musical style until the "British Invasion", then it was instantly passe. Later, Billy Joel paid homage to it with his Innocent Man CD. Dion was among the best.
Great song. Hope you like it.
Hey Angela you are the best….. i have never waited and looked forward to videos as much as I do to your music reaction videos….. you are so much fun to watch….. keep up your awesome videos
First time I heard part of this song was an episode of Family Matters with Donna Summers “Aunt Oona” One of the groups competing against Eddie in the talent show was a group that did this song 😁
The Belmonts were with him PLUS Dion is still at it. Another great video
this was REAL music !! ... before "auto-tune"
Great song!! Loved this since it came out!! 😅
I literally know every single word to this song
Dion got some really good songs. This from a movie, when the audience was into Rock "N 'Roll , The young really Love it !!
He doo wop rock heavy for the time great live music and he from the Bronx like me
He had a lot of hits as a single as well as lots of hits with the Belmonts. They were from the Bronx,NY.
The world was a better, happier place then, I know, I was there.
Like you, Angela, I love Doo Wop! To be fair, Dion has more than just a great voice - his sense of timing and phrasing was unmatched. A note slightly sustained or a word delayed a split second, all to build more tension. It meant that we feel the song instead of just hearing it. He scored a number of great hits during the late 50s and early 60s, until the arrival of The Beatles and the rest of the British Invasion bands changed everything about music. While the hits dried up for him, Dion kept on in the clubs, adapting other styles into his repertoire. In 1968, he hit the big time again with the very touching Abraham, Martin and John, a Folk based song protesting violence while pushing the thought that we are all the equals, despite our outer differences.
Great Reaction as Always Beautiful Angela..😘😎
If im not mistaken, Dion and The Belmonts were one of the acts that replaced Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper at the Winter Dance Party tour when all three were killed in a plane crash in February of '59 - or they may had already been touring with them.
About a year ago Dion released A Song for Sam Cooke (Here in America) with Paul Simon. A nice tribute to Sam Cooke and a comparison to what befell a white singer and a black singer back in the day, It was a joy to listen to these two eighty year olds sing.
I truly LOVE you girl,, your reactions are truly sweet and genuine, and MOST IMPORTANTLY Ya don't pause, I've never understood how someone could possibly judge something untill they've heard it all 😘 keep it up ✌️
This song really stands out to me as unique for it's era. It's got a real energy, a great groove. Though it's from '61, it is essentially a 50s-style song, but really jams! There's that grit in Dion's vocals that also contributes an edge to it. One of the very few songs from the era I really like.
This song was in sleeping with the enemy...Julie roberts
Hey Angela, Dion did his thing along with his band too...This is an absolute classic masterpiece!!!
The follow up song to this one is the Wanderer. Dion DiMucci sings about being a serial dater. Love ‘em and leave ‘em.
Hi Angela! Good choice to choose Dion, he was called the King Of Bronx. Some suggestions for other 50-60s groups: "Monotones - Book Of Love", "Silhouettes - Get A Job" or "Bobby Freeman - Do You Wanna Dance". Also have a lot of other Doo-Wop in my music collection, if you want some more suggestions? Good job, keep it up. 🙂
You or spot on again 😅 on your reaction/comment! They don't make anything like they used to, that includes people! But brighter 🤠 days are on the horizon!!
Music of my childhood!😎🎶I managed to slip in to sing with some Doo Wop groups… this music makes me very Happy! Thank You!
The talent was behind the microphone and the instruments. Unlike a lot of today's music where the talent is behind the mixing boards.
Thanks for the reaction, really enjoyed it. One of my favorite songs.
I love the dance that you do.
Yup. There is something special about genuine talent. You're right, you either had it or you didn't back then. No hiding it behind the dreaded 'A' word we have too much of today.
No room to hide...you had to be good vocally to stand out. This is a classic for sure...Timeless, a great tune
Great song. I believe he was with the Belmont's then. I know for a fact he wasn't in 68 when he had a big hit Abraham Martin & John. Very good singer,! They had a few hit records
This clip is notorious because the crowd shows NO reaction until the end. Meanwhile Dion just kills it on this track....spectacular.
He's still recording ,and better than ever...➡️🎶💎I. think you will like WRITTEN ON THE SUBWAY WALLS BY DION....
Great great song, it’s played in a lot movies
A great talent. You need to see his video Abraham, Martin and John- it will tug on your heart strings.
Love your groove…fun!
The movie American Graffitti is full of the original songs. The movie is set in 1962 and around cars and cruising
He has a song "Abraham, Martin and John"
About Lincoln, Luther King and Kennedy.
Another great reaction, DayOne Reacts.
Dion's newest album came out in 2020.
I LOVE ❤ the fact that ya don't keep pausing the video's, I offen wondered how people can comment on a video untill they've heard the song ✌
"Hat`s off to Larry " has to be next ,similar vibe to Dion
Classic❤
My favorite song at the time (along with Runaway by Del Shannon) - - when I was 13 in 1961. Do the math.
61 I was 12
You might like a catchy doo wop song from 1961 by The Jarmels - A Little Bit of Soap. The 30's and 40's were the era of the big band. The 50's and early 60's was the era of vocalists. The Beatles introduced the era of the rock band. There were still great vocalists like Karen Carpenter, Gladys Knight, Donna Summer and Engelbert Humperdink, but rock bands became more important and turned into variations, like psychedelic, punk, heavy metal, etc. where vocals were not as important as electric guitars and drums.
Way to go Angela. Doo wop is still great after all these years. None better. And New music can't compete with it for longevity either!!
Dion has a lot of really fun songs, but you should check out one of his more moving songs like "Abraham, Martin and John". The song is a tribute to Abraham Lincoln, John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert F. Kennedy. The song was written the same year after MLK and Bobby Kennedy were assassinated.
Great song and back then it was all about Talent. Try "Abraham Martin And John" by Dion. Bring a Tissue.
Good to. See. You. 😊
You should listen to the Coasters; 50's music with humor. Charlie Brown, Poison Ivy, Along came Jones, Yakety Yak.
I'll never know how those people sitting there watching and listening to Dion didn't all stand up and start dancing. What a great tune, sung brilliantly well. This is a great memory-jerker for the long lost days of de-wop. 🙋♂
They are extras in a movie behaving the way the director told them to.
@@sg-yq8pm Yes, but it was a lovely and powerful touch nonetheless, surely you agree.
You should do one by the platters. Beautiful singers.
Awesome ❤️
Angela, try Jay and the Americans "Cara Mia". You will love it 😊
Poor guy was singing in front of dead bodies😮
Dion was one of Robert Plant's favorite singers. Robert of course is the lead singer for Led Zeppelin. I notice you've reacted to the live version of Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven, but you haven't heard the studio recording yet. Led Zeppelin were so improvisational, it's hard to get a true understanding or appreciation for their songs by hearing the live tracks first. You really should always do reactions to Led Zeppelin's studio tracks first. Please consider doing a reaction to the official audio/studio recording of Stairway to Heaven. It is one of the greatest achievements in audio recording history and it will open your eyes to the magic and greatness of the song.
Peace
Great tune from the past! True, in the past if you had talent, you had a chance. If not, no chance. Looks and charisma helped, but you couldn't get there without talent.
THIS IS WHAT I GREW UP WITH
You should try Jimmy Donley ( The Shape You Left Me In / Born A Loser / Love Cajun Style / What Must I do / Our love /Rockin 'Bicycle ) are just a few
Sounds as fresh as the day it was made, from arguably the greatest of all the doo-woppers. The instant recognition on your face was priceless. It's great that you move with the music - that's what it's for, but try not to wave your arms in front of the camera too much, as it can be distracting, Keep rollin' 'em out, girl.
Dion was supposed to be on Buddy Holly's plane but he balked at the $36 price .
Nice reaction. Would love to see you react to the band Gov’t Mule doing Bad Little Doggie live. I believe you would really enjoy this one. Keep rocking it. Peace lovely lady.
❤
His full name is Dion DiMucci.
My Music!
The audience though!! They're stiff as boards!! How can you not move to a song like that!!😮
👍💯💕
need to listen to the "The,Wanderer"
😃😃
the audience in this movie clip cracks me up, it's music for teenagers and there are bunch of adults in gowns and suits. Reality check here: They would be plugging their ears and complain about that noisy rock and roll, heading for the door as fast as they could...
I really enjoy your reaction videos. Have you ever reacted to Home Free? Say, "End of the Road?"
This type of music, which I consider early rock, was contreversiol with some older folk back then.Imagine what they would've thought if they heard Metallica.⭐
