  • A plan to consolidate Air Force and Space Force personnel which could force the relocation of hundreds of Air Force personnel from several states. Gov. Jared Polis, as well as some of those Airmen, say they don't want to leave Colorado.

The whole point of the National Guard and Reserves is to allow opportunities for American citizens who want to serve our country and soldiers who were in the Air Force or Army to continue to serve our country by staying in their home state. One of the biggest reasons soldiers refrain from relisting is that they constantly move around and are far from family.

I'm not sure if moving the National guard like that is even legal. What they are contemplating is doing an end run around the state Governor to mobilize the Guard for the convinced of the Pentagon. Someone needs to remind the brass at the Pentagon that many of the guard are only there part time and have regular jobs where they live and that mobilization is at the discretion of the state Governor.

Unfortunately when the states agreed to deals in which they were allowed to send their respective state guard to the army for training, they also signed away their rights to keep their guard in state and to decide when they are activated. This is why individual state guards are sent over seas when they really shouldn’t be.

Isn't one of the defining factors of the national guard that you serve locally, except in cases of emergency?
Otherwise why would anybody sign up for the National Guard as opposed to other branches that give better career opportunities? If you are going to take actions to decimate it, you might as well completely eliminate the guard altogether and use the other more focused branches of the military for all of its functions and responsibilities.

When you choose to work for the military you give up your right to choose where you live.
It makes sense to consolidate given the amount of money that the military spends. Every one complains until it affects them.
    Bunch of crybabies!

You're mistaken. This is the Colorado Air National Gaurd, not the USAF. You absolutely have the right to live where you want. The DoD has been playing games with the states guards since Clinton. This is just the next evolution of that. And since this particular unit are the subject matter experts and are tactical/mobile group, the Governor has every right to be upset and to fight it.

You are completely wrong, as Air and Army National Guard Members are not Active duty. When you enlist in the Colorado Army or Air National Guard, you are not a Federalized Force like active duty. The Guard Members live in the communities in which they serve.and are commanded by the States Governor. The activities conducted in Greeley can very easily be transferred to Buckley Space Force Base and incorporated into the 140 TFW Command. The biggest whiners are infact the liberals who never served in either the Active duty, Reserve or Guard Forces.
